Yes, Audacity can record MIDI. You will need to connect your MIDI device to your computer and enable Audacity to record from it. Once you have done that, you can record MIDI messages by playing them on your MIDI device.
MIDI is a standard protocol used for recording, playing, and manipulating digital music. Pro Tools is a digital audio workstation developed by Avid Technology that can record, edit, and mix digital audio and MIDI. Pro Tools can record MIDI in several ways. One way is to use an external MIDI device such as a keyboard or sequencer and connect it to the Pro Tools system via a MIDI interface. Once the MIDI device is connected, you can use Pro Tools to record the MIDI performance. Another way to record MIDI in Pro Tools is to use a virtual instrument
No, you don't need an interface to record MIDI. MIDI is a digital protocol that can be used to connect musical instruments and computers.
You can record MIDI notes to the instrument track by using a MIDI controller. MIDI controllers come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs. When you have a MIDI controller, you can connect it to your computer and use it to record MIDI notes.

Good results. Simply connect a midi cable to this unit using the Out port on your keyboard controller or sequencer. Then connect 4 distinct midi wires from this box to 4 different pieces of equipment's Ins. This is traditional 5-pin MIDI, not USB MIDI, so it is compatible with older equipment. Make sure you understand that. If it lacks a traditional 5-pin midi port Out, you will not be able to utilise this through a box if you get a modern small controller (Arturia, Novation, etc.) that only has USB MIDI. It does not require a battery or an AC converter because it is powered by the midi Out.

It was an absolute joy using a LiDiVi adapter for the first time after using other USB/5-pin-MIDI adapter manufacturers in the past and having to struggle with all of them to get gear to work. I plugged it in, my keyboard was immediately visible to my laptop, I pointed my laptop software to it, and, done! We're putting on a community theater production of MAMMA MIA!, and to control the more than 100 MIDI "voices," we need five laptops and keyboards. Five keyboards—five different brands, five laptops running various MacOS versions as well as Windows 7 and 10—range in age from fresh to fifteen years old. On every variation, the LiDiVi adapters performed wonderfully. The lengths of the cables to the IN/OUT MIDI ports are fairly long and prone to tangling, whereas the wire from the circuit module to the USB port is relatively short. I would prefer the lengths be reversed. The startlingly bright LED "power" light. We'll use tape to cover the lens, but I wish they'd just gone with a softer LED light intensity.

I have a very ancient Casiotone MT 240 keyboard that I probably bought in the 1980s, long before USB was invented. I like to use it to record music, produce Midi files, and print sheet music using Finale Software, which is (very basic free) software. I'd prefer to speed up note entering into Finale files by using this keyboard. Even though I'm a complete newbie, I've found this tiny, old keyboard to be quite helpful. For my purposes, the FORE Red USB IN-OUT provided the ideal solution. I haven't tested other devices, thus I can't say how the FORE USB IN-OUT performs on them. I can only tell that the FORE Vendor stands behind the goods, though. I emailed FORE because I had a quick issue. I got a response and a solution right away! I'm curious to know if the few individuals (and those who left negative reviews on Amazon) who had trouble getting the FORE USB to work took the time to contact customer service? Just inquire; it was there. Anyways I can give FORE 5 Stars because of the selfless assistance I received. Regards, FORE.

I eventually upgraded my work laptop to a 2017 model when the battery in my outdated 2009 MacBook Pro died. Even though the laptop is fantastic, my M-Audio Quad did not function properly with the new OS, and they had no plans to upgrade it, so I was left without an audio interface for upcoming performances. The PlayAUDIO12 seems like it would meet my needs after little investigation.I required an interface with at least six distinct outputs for various instruments that I could attach through USB. Although MIDI and inputs weren't crucial, I couldn't accept much lag since this would be powering all of my synthesizers on stage. I also needed a backup connection so I could use a hot spare laptop in case of an emergency. This gadget takes care of all of that and more. Since I've been using it regularly for the past six months, I've encountered no problems—except for the time I upgraded the firmware without first backing up my configuration, in which case I lost my presets. But that was my fault. Please notice that I have not utilized any of the PlayAUDIO12's MIDI capabilities. It merely serves as an audio interface through which MainStage can output various audio channels from soft synths. Although the iConfig program is not visually appealing, it is simple enough to use and the instructions is adequate to set up sound and redundancy in a matter of minutes. For those who are familiar with this type of routing, the software's graphic representation of the MIDI and audio routing makes it simple to understand. In conclusion, it is a reliable, high-quality audio interface that works with many different Mac systems. Undoubtedly, I'll buy a second one to have as a backup.

To connect my 17-year-old Yamaha DGX-500 keyboard to Garageband, I didn't need a driver. It was easy to plug in and work!**Important information: If you only see a red light on the cable (see photo), switch the plugs so that the blue light will flash to indicate that it is connected properly. The IN plug is actually an OUT plug and the OUT plug is truly an IN plug (see video).Additionally, the seller (KoniteeUSA) got in touch with me following my purchase to check on how I was like the order and to offer help if I needed it.

had a keyboard that was begging to be played. The MIDI wire is a nice length, and I just used the keyboard once. I will update the review as necessary. This works with my Acer Aspire S7, my late-1990s Casio keyboard (CT 670), and the flowkey "free" tutorial. I haven't tried it with the paid stuff, where more than one note is played at once.I made the mistake of connecting the midi cable "IN" to the keyboard's "IN" and midi cable "OUT" to the keyboard's "OUT" because I had previously set up audio and home theater systems where I had matched the colors on RCA cables. However, this is more logical: midi cable IN to keyboard OUT and midi cable OUT to keyboard IN.Anyhow, the connection seems to be solidly constructed; there is a light to indicate if power is flowing or whether it is linked via USB. I occasionally see a blue LED flash, but more often than not, the red LED is on continuously if it is plugged into a computer. Blue, I think, indicates that it is taking in MIDI signals.I'll utilize it more after which I'll update this review.I've only used FlowKey for a total of about 4 hours over the past two days, but so far it's been very trouble-free with my Casio CT-670 61-key keyboard. So far, no grievances.I noticed that the blue LED lights up when I press the key and the signal is correctly sent to Flowkey. As long as it is plugged into a USB port, the red light, which is steady, basically indicates that it is receiving electricity.Gratitude for reading

The thing is that I previously stated that this did not function with my Boss ES-5 because I kept receiving midi communication errors. As a result, I assumed that I would have to purchase the Roland UM-one MK2, which was recommended on the Boss Support page as being essentially tested and true. When I finally got it, I thought, "Wow, I can now program my ES-5." I connected it, but I received the same problem. Then I went to Boss and learned how to check the software version on the ES-5. Ah...old it's 1.00 something, needs to be updated. You have to go through all the steps to get the new drivers from Boss then get a player to load them onto the Boss ES-5, and after that you unplug it to restart. So that's what I did. I downloaded the most recent driver for the UM-ONE mk2 and loaded that on my MacBook Pro The clever setup is that, although thinking I needed to use the Roland UM-on k2 to update the firmware on the ES-5, I probably could have done it with the mi.1 and saved myself the $40 I spent on the UM-One. Well, at least I have a backup in case my Bluetooth ever fails.
If you want to connect multiple MIDI devices to your computer, you can do so using a MIDI interface. This will allow you to connect multiple devices to your computer so that you can use them all at the same time.
There are a few different ways that you can record MIDI files to your computer. One way is to use a MIDI interface that is connected to your computer. This will allow you to record the MIDI files that you create on your keyboard or other MIDI controller. Another way to record MIDI files to your computer is to use a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). No, a MIDI interface is not the same as an audio interface. MIDI interfaces only transmit MIDI signals, while audio interfaces can transmit both MIDI and audio signals.
MIDI has been around for a lot longer than USB, and it is a lot more reliable. MIDI is also a lot more versatile, and it can be used with a lot more devices. USB is newer and it is not as reliable, and it is not as versatile.
There is no one answer to this question as different studios will use different audio interfaces depending on their specific needs and preferences. However, some of the more popular audio interfaces used in professional studios include the Universal Audio Apollo, the Focusrite Scarlett, and the Presonus StudioLive. These interfaces are all well-regarded for their sound quality and reliability, and offer a variety of features that can be tailored to the needs of any studio.
