I put the batteries in a few of days ago, and so far it's fine. I'll update this later after more use. I fully discharged the battery before charging it, charged it to 100%, and then unplugged it. The instructions were at most adequate and shown how to remove the battery but not replace it, but if you simply watch a YouTube video, you can quickly figure it out. The aftermarket replacement I purchased was terrible and lasted only a few months because mine had previously been removed once.Positives: I can tell it has a bigger capacity. The bundled equipment and parts are of reasonable quality.Cons: The instructions might be better.

I've used the traditional Pro Tech Toolkit from iFixit for years, and it's never failed me. During a black friday sale, I recently upgraded to the 2016 Pro Tech and have had a chance to use it. The newest kit, the iFixit 64 Bit Driver Kit, is by far the highlight of this toolkit, although I was quite pleased with every element.For more information on some of the adjustments and additions, watch my video review.Update, information I've learned since recording my video review:The steel used for the bits is 6150 (manufacturer's website), which is a type of CR-V steel that is frequently used for knives and swords. It has the following compositions: 0.5% C, 0.8% Mn, 0.9% Cr, and 0.18% V "A carbon-chromium alloy steel with fine grains that is highly abrasion resistant is called 6150. This alloy's major characteristics include excellent toughness and stress resistance after being heat treated." The Pentalobe did an excellent job of opening my MacBook Pro (Late-2013, 15" Retina). The magnetised tips were a great help in preventing screw loss.But my Torx screw was stripped by the T5 screwdriver (that may speak to either the strength of the screwdriver bit or the weak screw head or my abilities...you choose).The nylon spudger is also a terrific asset because it makes it easy to work around the bottom panel's edge and peel the back panel off. Excellent for removing old heat paste from the CPU as well.I am satisfied with this buy overall.

Because I repair electronics for a career and have access to a full toolkit at work that allows me to fix just about anything, I was frustrated by the lack of good equipment I had at home whenever I needed to fix something. I bought this kit for myself since I thought it was a good value. I can attest to the durability of these after using and breaking more expensive ifixit parts. Precision bits will break if you are not careful, but these are reasonably durable in the majority of circumstances. Aside from heat tools, the package has a number of equipment and is essentially an all-in-one repair kit for phones or computers. Definitely a recommendation.

I took a chance and bought it to use for auto dent repair, which the manufacturer did not promise it could handle. A larger ding I had on the side of my CRv was easily removed by the suction cups, but a smaller, more challenging one was not.Having said that, I must acknowledge that these simple things had a bigger impact than I had anticipated. Although pulling a dent back out is different than raising a tablet screen, I can't see why its performance in the former would justify doing the latter. These tiny objects easily adhered to sheet metal and could only be loosened with a force of 26 lbs or more.I wouldn't hesitate to suggest this to other potential hobbyists, though I would definitely advise them to go elsewhere for their more specialized automotive need.

A good set of Torx drivers is necessary because I maintain my folding knives frequently. I wanted a set made of S2 steel after twisting several more bits and snapping the tip off of one that was allegedly made by Wiha. I used the same metal for two flag-shaped drives, and it just seems sturdy. This bundle, which costs just over $10, is a great deal. The driver handle that comes with it isn't really something I use because I already have others that I prefer, but if you don't, it looks adequate. If you have screws that are difficult to reach, the extension bar and flexible extension can be useful. When you press a little tab on the case's outside, all the components stand up for convenient choosing. When finished, simply press them back down so that they rest flat. The case's clasp is functional as well. If you need to work on a computer or a cell phone, the SIM card ejector and plastic prying tool that come with it are helpful. However, going back to the pieces themselves, they are doing well, and that is what matters the most.

There are numerous tools in this set that make dealing with contemporary gadgets simpler. However, I've discovered that real guitar picks perform better and last longer than the miniature blue imitations. The little blue spudger is also not very effective and is quickly damaged. A driver's license, customer reward card, or gift card that has expired all function perfectly. These are, unsurprisingly, the parts of the kit that I dislike the least.The metal spudgers in this kit are my favorite component. These are useful in any circumstance where you may typically reach for a butter knife to use as a tool.A few tweezers, an exacto-style knife, and a thin metal ruler are included. There is a suction cup that is quite powerful. There is also a variety of plastic picks and rods included, which may be handy, but I would get more use out of this kit if it came with an instruction manual explaining how to use each one.

The package includes more than you could possibly need to open a phone. I value the variety of options offered by the opening tools. I like to use the plastic triangle picks because I'm accustomed to doing so, but I'm eager to try the thin metal opening tool because it seems to be much more effective. The screwdrivers are of excellent quality; the tips haven't come off, and when gripping the black top, the body turns effortlessly for one-handed operation. Since pentalobe screwdrivers aren't highly magnetic, working with such tiny screws is difficult. The yellow magnetizer that comes with the package might not be able to repair it, but it's worth a try. Amazing tweezers, indeed! They are just as useful as you would anticipate. Overall, having this kit is an excellent idea in case you need to access a phone for whatever reason. feels like a well-made kit.

This set is great. In fact, I bought it so I could operate on computers and open the chassis when it was hard to do so. Despite the fact that this set is designed to fix specific gadgets like tablets, phones, ipads, and portable handheld gaming devices, there are a few helpful tools that come in handy when working with really delicate items like the vbios battery removal and some of the data transfer strips that need to be unplugged from their holsters. The tweezers do help with this because some wiring needs to be removed with specialized equipment without damaging the hardware itself. You shouldn't try to separate the bottom chassis from the top chassis with any form of screwdriver or sharp item since you risk destroying the nearby hardware, the wiring, or the pins holding the chassis in place. The tiny and large triangle wedge tools are quite useful for this. For the price you are paying, the material used is actually quite decent. Despite being made of plastic, the material doesn't feel at all cheap. and the metal tools appear to be well-made as well. I heartily suggest this to anyone looking for tools for fixing any type of portable device, from laptops.

I probably bought six different sets of drivers for smaller screws in a rush of tool purchasing. This one, like the others, had flaws that I didn't like, but they were small and easily overlooked in contrast to the flaws of the others, which smacked you in the face every time you used them. Eventually, those were returned along with an explanation of why they didn't actually meet the descriptions in the "commercial."The philips-type bits fit Canon camera screws better than the others, the swivel cap on the end of the driver is raspier than others but smoothes out after time, and each bit is individually labelled on the bit itself as well as on the casing. This set has enough pieces to meet all of my demands. This means that instead of using trial and error, you may glance at the case and find the information you need the first time. Additionally, because the bit markings match the case markings, you can simply put things back where they started after a few hours of disassembly when you want to tidy up a bit before the next stage.Although not overly pricey, this kit was clearly designed to be more than just a set of well-made parts for people who work in the repair industry.
