Are steam carpet cleaners worth it?

If you are debating whether or not to buy a steam carpet cleaner, you may be wondering if they are worth the money. The answer to this question depends on a few factors. First, consider how often you will use the machine. If you have a large family and pets, your carpets will likely need to be cleaned more often than someone who lives alone. Second, think about the size of your home. A steam carpet cleaner can be very helpful in large homes with a lot of carpeting. Finally, consider the price of the machine. Some models are very expensive, but there

SpotClean Pro with Carpet Shampoo Review:

I should start by saying that I have three carpet cleaning devices that I can use based on my needs:Machine for professional carpet cleaning by Bissell, model number 86T3 (for those large jobs like the semi-annual whole house cleaning)Portable Carpet Cleaner-Corded, Spotclean Pet Pro, Bissell 2458 (this machine for those in between jobs)Hands-free Spot and Stain Cleaner with Deep Reach Technology, Bissell SpotBot Pet 33N8 (for smaller jobs, like smaller than your hand)Herein lies the problem; while the larger machine will undoubtedly perform better, it will also cost significantly more; the middle machine, which I am reviewing, performs only marginally better for messes that don't quite require that big machine (which weighs about 60lbs); however, less vacuum power translates into a longer drying time. The last one is kind of a mixed bag; it works beautifully for small stains no bigger than your hand if you simply fill it up, set it down, and press the button, but it is woefully inadequate for anything that would require you to actually use the attached hose, so despite appearing to be able to replace the middle machine, it cannot.Let's talk about that middle machine now. It weighs less than 15 pounds when fully filled with water or solution, the hose is long enough to not be an issue, and for once Bissell fixed the problem with how the hose stores and remains in place. The vacuum power is where you can tell you have a smaller machine because it extracts less water and takes longer to dry. The brush relies on the strength of your arm (no rotating brush of any kind). I used it on a flight of ten stairs with two little landings, and by the time I was done, I was fatigued. This is where this machine really shines; cleaning up after the big machine takes at least 30 minutes, and cleaning up after the small machine might take just as long depending on what needs cleaning. It took this machine around 5 minutes to clean the deck with the water hose, let it dry, and then store it for later use. This machine also has a separate head that will allow you to clean it up in small amounts and empty the small container on the head as you go. I did not test this feature, but I can see how it might be something you might want to have on hand for REALLY smelly messes that you really don't want to suck down into the bowels of your machine. It is rated 3 Stars compared to the $500 machine, but 4 Stars for overall utility because it can be a lifeline for apartment dwellers and those on a tight budget.

BISSELLProHeat 2X Revolution Max Clean Pet Pro Full-Size Carpet Cleaner, 1986 Review:

Let me start by saying that a few years ago, I wrote off all home carpet cleaners because, regardless of how pricy or nice they were, they all had the same issue with cleaning them after use. But the worst aspects of that known problem have been removed in the new Bissell design. I've never had such easy access to the brushes and suction tunnels that you do with this machine. Because of how simple it is to clean, I've rejoined the bandwagon of home carpet cleaner users. This unit arrived packaged extremely well, and by extremely well I mean it was in a huge box, inside of which was another large box that filled in the empty space before the product box. There were no surprises because the machine was packaged tightly inside the product box, as you would find with any vacuum or cleaner when you buy one. But Bissell deserves praise for not using a lot of Styrofoam; well done! The four pieces snap together easily, and only one Phillips head screw needed to be installed during assembly. I was able to determine how to disassemble the front section for cleaning after consulting the manual, so I was ready. With the flat design and ease of accessing the ends of beds or furniture, cleaning was a breeze. I also like that the hose and accessories are packaged separately and only need to be connected to the machine when needed, reducing bulk when using the main unit. I want to again praise this section. Using the foot controlled "extra" hot shot was also nice, and the main carpet portion was simple to complete. Basically, there is a foot pedal you can step on to squirt hot cleaner solution on the spot before the machine gets there to help assist with the removal of said spot if you have a spot coming up in front of you.Despite the fact that my dogs were still lying on the couches, the handheld attachments quickly dismantled them. very simple to use and very simple to attach to the machine Most of these things are quite similar if you have ever used a home carpet cleaning machine. The cleanup is next. With the brush heads' removable pieces, it's very simple. Only the brush heads themselves required me to bend over and clean while I was still using the machine. Access was simple, and a tool to help clean these brushes was even provided.Although this may seem like a lot of information, I wanted to make sure I shared everything I learned so that anyone considering purchasing this unit could see my first-hand experience with it and, hopefully, use that to inform their choice. To cut a long story short, I would definitely suggest this to anyone who needs their carpets cleaned at home. Already, my mother-in-law has been eying mine. You won't be disappointed with this machine, so good luck!

Bissell 3624 SpotClean Professional Portable Carpet Cleaner - Corded (Renewed) Review:

Although I had my doubts, this small steamer exceeded my expectations! I bought this to use for car detailing at work, and it works excellent! I've used it practically daily on pretty filthy automobiles and haven't had any problems with it.

Hoover Dual Power Pro Carpet Washer Cleaner FH51200 Review:

Amazingly quick shipment! It arrived faster than expected, demonstrating the seller's desire to go above and beyond the call of duty. This carpet cleaning device is likewise fantastic and quite simple to use. I frequently used Lowe's to rent the Bissell Green Machine, and I was really pleased with the results. I wanted to acquire a machine with the Green Machine's two tank system and cleaning brushes, but I didn't want to go over my spending limit. This Hoover Dual Power Pro is the closest thing I could find to the Green Machine I used to rent after doing a lot of research. The Hoover Dual Power Pro is considerably easier to manage, yet the dual cleaning brushes appear and function exactly like the ones on the Green Machine. Compared to the Green Machine, the cleaning brush attachment performs significantly better. By the way, it came with three attachments. A good bag to put them all in with a rotating scrub brush, spot treatment sprayer, and upholstery attachment with little manual bristles. Additionally, I think this carpet cleaner machine contains a gallon more water than other household cleaning equipment. This machine is incredibly easy and practical to use. I use it frequently because I have an old dog with urinary issues. It is simple to take a hold of it and quickly spot clean it before a stain develops. I heartily endorse this carpet cleaner. What a fantastic value!

Bissell ProHeat 2X Lift Off Pet Carpet Cleaner, 15651 Review:

In the past week, I've used this Bissell on our home's carpet a few times. incredibly impressed fantastic at cleaning. water is thoroughly vacuumed. After shampooing, carpet appears to dry in a few hours. Used on the stairs and the carpet. really simple to use. Before usage, always vacuum the carpet. The system is just as simple to use as a regular vacuum.Interested in knowing when the solution bottle is empty. When no shampoo is being sprayed, there may be a way to tell, but I have had to check to be sure I'm not just "going through the motions."Since I only used about a third of the 48 oz. bottle of Bissell 2X Deep Cleaning Formula each time I cleaned the carpet, I'm glad I got it with the purchase. Both the carpet cleaner and the rental units I've used in the past required a lot more water changes. I'm unsure of why the Bissell consumes less water while performing so well, but I'm not complaining.Given that this solution does an excellent job of cleaning and dries so rapidly, I genuinely look forward to cleaning the carpet.

BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Full Size Upright Carpet Cleaner and Shampooer with Antibacterial Spot & Stain Remover, 1548 Review:

The third and greatest Bissell carpet cleaner I've purchased is this one. A pro heat self-propelled device and a comparable single brush variant made up the other two. Both cleaned better than this one. The major reason I won't give it a better rating is that, like the others, this fails to remove more than a third of the applied solution no matter how long one vacuums. On each given cleaning, I reason that if it only extracts a third of the liquid, it will only remove a third of the debris.Having separate tanks for clean and dirty water is a benefit of this design. In addition to the percentage of fluid extracted, it is simple to examine the levels and validate that a second, third, or fourth cleaning still eliminates filth from prior attempts. The previous pro heat model's combination tank made it challenging to make those findings because dirty and clean water had to be emptied simultaneously, which discouraged such a test. That model, in my opinion, is intentionally deceiving. But not this one. This device is by far the fastest of the three in immediately spraying enough fluid to try cleaning. The twin brushes must undoubtedly remove dirt more effectively than a single brush. Even if there is still filth embedded deeper in the carpet, it appears clean. The front pickup is detachable, which I also appreciate. According to my experience, it will usually become clogged with fibers and need cleaning after every gallon of applied fluid. It is much simpler to be able to snap it off and wash it in the sink than it was to partially disassemble the earlier pro heat model and remove screws. The cleaning tool that is provided does assist, but it still takes longer to unclog it than I had planned. In contrast to the former pro heat model, where the hose was always sliding off until fastened on, I prefer that the hose on this model is totally removable. With the hose and wider brush attachment, I tried to clean four carpeted stair steps but was completely disappointed in its vacuuming performance. Due to the larger brush's poor construction and numerous air leaks, there is hardly any vacuum and very little solution pickup. Fortunately, the smaller brush does not experience this issue and effectively removes the liquid. Because even taping over every seam, including the ridiculous vacuum "release" button, does little to make this utterly useless attachment effective, I have no intention of ever using the larger brush again. The "in service" cord holder can't hold the cord unless around seven large rubber bands are added around it to create friction and prevent the unused cord from just slipping off, which is a minor problem. Bissel doesn't even test their design, does he?I can clean roughly 60 square feet of carpet when using the gallon supply container that is filled. I simply pick up fiber clumps as they are spewed out, usually on the first pass, to avoid the pickup being clogged. By the time the fluid is gone, my back will have suffered from the repetitive back and forth motions of attempting to get the water out, therefore it is time to set up a box fan to finish drying the carpet. Do the remaining tasks tomorrow.Despite its flaws, I would still repurchase this model because there are undoubtedly worse ones out there. Every time I use it, the carpets are definitely cleaned of grime.

Hoover Power Path Pro Advanced Carpet Cleaner, FH51102PC Review:

The best rug washer I've ever owned, by far. I typically replace mine every three to four years, mostly because newer, better technology makes the machine lighter, more powerful, and easier to operate.I like the individual removal canisters over the single canister with the other guy's inner bladder since the hover is lighter, the motor is stronger, and (which I have owned). The machine arrived in good condition with no dents or scratches, and assembly was simple. The appliance looks sleek and contemporary, more like a sports car than a cleaner. How does it perform, then?First, let's talk about the surroundings: a medium-sized closed-loop carpet with a backing, three dogs, and three persons. Although the dogs and adults are well-trained, accidents always seem to happen on the carpet. The weekend is ideal for cleaning carpets, so I grabbed my go-to cleaning product and fired up the vacuum. As a result, I rinsed and washed with hot tap water. The flattened heavy traffic areas of the carpet are gone thanks to the dual brush system's rotating (front) and circular scrubbing (rear) cleaning and lifting the nap. You can rinse the carpet by turning a knob, which helps you to get rid of any remaining solution and debris. To remove the surplus liquid from the carpet, the device blows hot air from the motor while also using suction (damp not dry). Instead of letting the carpet air dry naturally, using a carpet dryer or a few fans will help the drying component of the work get done faster and life back to normal faster. Finally, you must clean it after using it, just like any other useful instrument (not following this rule cost me my first cleaner years back). Flush the system after adding hot water to the soap chamber and water canister. The unit should be cleaned, dried, and then stored.Wrapping up, I had a good experience. I had no problems, and the device worked just as described when I used it three times after buying it. Thank you for reading, and I hope this was helpful in making your choice.

Vornado VS-570 Commercial Fabric Steamer with Solid Brass Boiler and Die Cast Aluminum Body, Black Review:

I selected this steamer for two reasons: 1) reviews of its steaming capacity, and 2) reviews of Vornado's customer service. I picked the right path. I was impressed by how professionally packed my steamer was when I received it. The steamer's construction continued to surprise me; the pole diameter is roughly twice that of the steamer it replaces, the tank can contain more water, and the hose, despite being a touch short, is fabric covered and less prone to fracture. After assembling the machine, I discovered that I liked how securely the handle/hose assembly hung from the pole's top. When working my old machine, the handle/hose combination would occasionally fall to the ground, which was both frustrating and possibly dangerous.I wasn't surprised because I had read what others had to say about it in the reviews. I made a call to Vornado right away. They delivered me a replacement machine when I provided them with the serial number, along with pictures of the manufacturers plate and my receipt. Excellent customer service was a major factor in my decision to purchase this machine. When the steamer was finally turned on, I was happy to note that, once more, unlike my old machine, this steamer did not "spit." Not this steamer, but the previous one, I had to cover with muslin to catch the water it spat out. I started by steaming fresh curtains. I wish the hose was longer at this point. To get to the top of the draperies, I had to lift the machine. I discovered that if I manually tightened the fitting keeping the pole in place, the pole would stay in place when I used it to hoist the steamer.I was not looking forward to the short—in the grand scheme of things—delay in the steamer reaching temperature. That, in my opinion, is a minor price to pay to avoid having to wait for the two tank system to function every few minutes. A system is used in the instant steam machines to transport a little amount of water into the heating/steam chamber. As in my old machine, whenever chilled water is poured into the chamber, the steam stops while the water heats up. Using the Vornado, this is not a problem. Continuous steam is present. I favor it.Overall, I'm extremely happy with this device and heartily suggest it to anyone searching for a top-notch steamer. As a textile artist who also sews and weaves tapestries, I will use this steamer in my work. I'll also use it to steam my clothing the old-fashioned way.To sum up:Cons: no spitting, warm but not hot hose/handle, difficult to handle tank, solid construction, constant steam, outstanding customer service.Cons: First machine's tank was cracked; it was pricey, but worth it; the hose was shorter than I would have liked.

Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3 Pet Pack Carpet Cleaner, Large, Blue Review:

When my Bissell machine passed away after many years of ownership, I thought about just renting equipment instead. You see, the cat has me rather than the other way around. There are two types of individuals in the world: cat lovers and regular folks. People who love cats are insane, difficult to reason with, and insist on housing wild felines. The spouse's cat now inhabits likes to play a game called "Who Pooped?" It's the cat, which comes as no surprise, and it's frequently not in the litter box. I firmly believe that the Bissell carpet cleaner did not pass away. It may have discovered how to exhaust its own motor rather than cope with more feces. I'm not to fault.Cheers! In the meantime, I have a big house with damaged and odorous carpet. It makes logical to always have a potent anti-feline weapon on hand because felines projectile emit from both ends, much like a mammalian MIRV. Having a machine that is simple to fill, clean, and move around makes sense as well. The majority of this works.First, this machine only has one reservoir to fill, in contrast to others that have two. Seriously, you'll need a bucket. a container. Combine the cleaning agent (and your FORBIDDEN add ins that may violate your warranty). Wild animals, even alleged domestic cats, smell. A laundry product made by Febreze performs admirably. There may be an Oxyclean ingredient in Rug Doctor and other products, which is great for pet stains. Mix this in a pail of water that is the appropriate temperature for the sort of carpet you have. In general, avoid using hot water. Your carpets are quite susceptible to damage. Water should be cool to moderate. You unscrew the machine's top, remove the reservoir that resembles a white bucket, and carefully pour your mixture into the base reservoir's filter. It will have a total capacity of about 2-3 gallons. The biggest shock is how little frippery and gadgeteria there is. It is plugged in. Holding down a red button causes the mixture to spray, the carpet to be cleaned, and the filth from the rug to be sucked into the white reservoir at the top. Effective use of this requires pulling, not pushing. You flip the one button from carpet to hand tool to get the hand tool, which I utilized for the stairs. You raise the fat intake pipe from behind the machine and attach it to the hand tool. The two ring quick attach valve requires some pressure to slide up. By fully pressing the double rings, attach the fast connect valve from the hand tool, move it into position until it snaps into place, and then let go of the double rings. Nicely finished with brass rings. The hand tool is working now that you've plugged the machine back in. Really, it's just alright. Not as good as I had hoped. Although it might be suitable for furniture, it is insufficient for stairs, which is where I really need it to kick ass. I'd spend a lot of money on a hand tool that agitates carpet just as well as a machine does but fits on the stair tread. For this reason, I docked it one star. The waste water was pitch black, and what I routinely found in the reservoir for pure cleaning power was nasty - which didn't surprise me. We often clean our carpets, and I've never seen anything quite like this. Despite the fact that I used a very slow cleaning method, the carpet was still wetter than I had preferred after cleaning it, and I had preferred the machine to drain more water than it did. According to the advice, it will take 4 hours for carpets to dry after washing, even if you clean them repeatedly without hitting the red spray button.Once the reservoir is empty and the machine is empty, it is a fairly light machine in terms of weight. This may be conveniently stored because the handle folds down. I believe we will have no trouble storing this in the garage. The best advice I ever received was to completely empty the machine after use, which I learned from a fantastic YouTube video. While it is still linked to the primary tank, bring it to your driveway and switch it to the "hand tools" mode. When the tank is empty, plug it in and let it run. I'll take this advice to make sure my machine is totally clean after usage by running clean water through it.

BISSELL DeepClean Deluxe Pet Carpet Cleaner and Shampooer, 36Z9 Review:

I've owned three carpet cleaners in the past twelve years or so—two Bissell and one Hoover. This cleaner took the place of our previous Bissell, which, despite performing slightly better than the Hoover (in my opinion), was not quite as good as this one. We had to immediately replace our first Bissell (a ProHeat 2x) because we had two cats, a dog, and were about to move when it finally gave up the ghost after five years of mild abuse and refused to perform anything. After the introductions are over, allow me to discuss the differences between this Bissell and our previous one that we love.1. We can clean more carpet before having to reload thanks to the bigger tank.2. The water stays hot the entire time the machine is in operation, suggesting that the heater has undergone some noticeable changes. We may have had a faulty component on our previous machine, but we still appreciate the upgrade.3. For us, the hair basket appears to be really effective. The anxiety of blocking a drain and having to play in the filthy water to unclog it is gone, though some still manage to get through.4. Tough places are more effectively agitated by the brushes.5. Finally, the suction is greater, which expedites what used to take a lot of time and leaves our carpets a little drier.Even our ancient Bissell performed better than my old Hoover in comparison. The two tanks in my old Hoover, one for clean water/chemicals and the other for dirty water, were one feature I did enjoy. That did make filling and emptying simpler. Although I wouldn't say Bissell's design is particularly filthy, it is annoying when the clean water is almost completely used up and the dirty water needs to be emptied. You basically have to throw everything out, and I dislike wasting things. There are a couple additional aspects of the new Bissell that we are not too fond of.1. The "Cleanshot" may be misleading.A. It can be difficult to align the stream with the location. On our machine, a direct strike requires that the machine be about 12" from the area and sitting slightly to the left of the target (by about 2"). I'm not sure if yours is different.B. While managing housekeeping at a Marriott hotel, I underwent a hands-on training program with Marriott, Windsor, and Ecolab that involved a significant amount of post-classwork and lasted several months. There are three stages of carpet maintenance: routine (vacuum), interim (shampoo), and recuperation, as one thing we discovered (extraction). The recovery stage is when you use the Cleanshot to spray a direct line of chemical and water onto a section of carpet, let it sit for a few minutes, and then apply direct suction to that area. Generally speaking, your household carpet cleaner falls more into the interim category than the recovery category. For each carpet part, you shouldn't go through the recovery step more than twice a year because doing so severely harms the carpet fibers. Despite the fact that I have utilized the Cleanshot, I do not suggest developing a practice of doing so unless it is absolutely necessary.2. Even without water, the machine is somewhat hefty. Because, as I said, I work at a hotel and we use commercial machines that weigh a lot more than this, it doesn't bother me as much as it does my wife. This one seems light to me. She objects.3. The power button's placement is uncomfortable. It's challenging to commit this power button arrangement to memory because we don't use the carpet cleaner as frequently as we do the vacuum cleaner. There are no power switches halfway down the front of any of the industrial cleaners I've used. It's simply incredibly strange. Here are some suggestions for people who claim that the carpet is really moist, that a lot of hair is left behind, or that the stains aren't dissolving. Before utilizing the carpet cleaner, the carpet must be completely vacuumed. Give it some time. Get along every baseboard and into every nook. To remove as much dirt, hair, and dust as you can from the carpet, go over it at least twice. The carpet cleaner should be used once it has been vacuumed as thoroughly as possible. Most people's natural motion while using a carpet cleaner is to push it forward, depress the spray trigger, pull it back, and then move on to the next area. You are let down by that in a couple of ways. First of all, you're going to miss a lot since you're not giving the chemical enough time to break up the soil. Additionally, you aren't giving the machine much of an opportunity to stir the carpet's fibers or to absorb nearly enough water to hasten the drying process.Do this instead:A. Move the machine forward gradually while pulling the spray trigger.B. Give the substance 15 to 30 seconds to work.C. Reverse the machine slowly over the area you just sprayed. Never pull the spray trigger.D. Re-do steps A through C in the same location.E. Look for any lingering stains on the strip you just cleaned, bring the machine up to them, and agitate the carpet once again. Never pull the spray trigger.F. Gently pull the machine all the way back after slowly pushing it to the top of the cleaned strip. Do this three times. Never pull the spray trigger.G. If there are any remaining stains, push the machine to them and spray with the Cleanshot for two seconds. Stop there and move on to the next section.H. Return to the areas where you used the Cleanshot in step G after performing steps A through C for the subsequent strip. Never pull the spray trigger. Simply shake the carpet to remove the water from those puddles. If the spots are still there, your machine will probably not be able to remove them. Either a specialist machine or new carpet in that region will be needed.I. Go back to the strip you cleaned in step I and finish it.J. Go around the entire room performing steps A through I.The process of cleaning your carpets shouldn't be as quick as vacuuming. It takes some time to perform it correctly, and the carpet needs a few hours to completely dry. However, if you perform it correctly, you shouldn't repeat the process for three months.Even though this is only a temporary solution, the carpet fibers are still harmed. The fibers are further harmed if you use too much chemical or keep your carpet overly moist. Although less so than interim care, routine care also causes fiber damage. Recovery care has its place and is essential, but you shouldn't use it frequently because it seriously harms the fibers. However, if you don't properly maintain your carpets, the soil can quickly and more thoroughly rip the fibers, thus it's crucial to use all three phases.Follow these instructions to take the best possible care of your carpet:Vacuum frequently, preferably every day in areas with significant traffic. Spills should be blotted as soon as they occur, and mild spot treatments should be used as needed. To get dirt and dust out of the carpet's deep fibers, use your Bissell once every three months over the entire carpet. In areas with high traffic, hire a professional carpet cleaner (extractor) every six months; for the remainder of your carpet, do it once a year. If you take care of good quality carpet, it should survive for several years.
