I am OVERJOYED that I purchased this item! I get cold sores around twice a year, and they can last up to three weeks! I made the decision to purchase this and applied it the day after I had a cold sore. (On day 1, I wasn't at home with my abreva when I first felt the cold sore forming. I appeared as like I had been punched in the lip due to the large, painful cold sore. The cold sore was flat after using Abreva for one day. It didn't hurt and it looked lot better. It had nearly disappeared three days later! I wouldn't even be able to see it unless I positioned my face near a mirror. Another thing I enjoyed was that applying Abreva to the cold sore when it tingled or itched rapidly reduced the itching. As long as you use it within the first few hours of experiencing that tingling sensation or beginning to notice the bump form, it works beautifully. However, Campho can only reduce the damage such that it doesn't worsen if you start to see the true blister appear (beyond the initial bump you first feel). I've been using this thing for a while, and it's stopped a ton of breakouts. Definitely essential.UPDATE (2/6/19): Since this review has received a lot of attention, I though I'd provide a personal recommendation. I've purposefully eliminated (or at least greatly decreased) any meals high in arginine, particularly nuts and nut butters, in addition to the usual immune system and stress management techniques. Although there may not be a clear connection, they do contain a lot of arginine, and I did used to eat them frequently as snacks. I haven't experienced a single outbreak since I stopped using them (close to a year). You could always look at the lysine/arginine ratio if you want to go really specific, but that never seemed to work for me. The cause of your outbreaks may not be nuts for you, but rather another food item high in arginine. In any case, it's worthwhile to give proactive food management a shot because nutrition can help with a variety of general health issues. I'm sure these are a pain, so hopefully this will be helpful to someone.

Cold sores have plagued me since the second grade. I'm in my 40s now, and I've tried every thing there is: prescriptions from doctors, products for sores, etc., and this one both prevents and cures. The only thing that does it. Second, if I experience the itching or tingling of a cold sore, I dab this on for two days, but no cold sores appear. I use Carmex in a squeeze tube every day; I don't use lipstick or any other cosmetics, and I have no cold sores. Whenever I blow my nose, I also wash my lips with hand soap, let them dry, and then swipe some Abreva on them. My lips used to be constantly lined with cold sores, but doing these things prevented it. Avoiding aluminum cans and metal utensils has also helped me to get rid of my cold sore problem. Other people I've discussed this with have experienced the same outcome as me, and no other lip products or combinations that I've ever known of have ever licked cold sores for me. Normally, we don't write reviews, but we did want to share this with other families in a similar situation. It's effective stuff! It took about a month, but it entirely removed the rough case of molluscum warts on our five-year-upper old's thighs. The doctors were encouraging us to simply wait for the virus to do its thing. However, the warts had been growing for more than a year and showed no indications of stopping, so we were at a loss for what to do. We were really scared as they were poised to expand to the genital areas! We were attempting to stay away from curettage since it would be too much for a small child to go through. Then we gave it a shot. It was challenging to keep our child's molluscum under control because she has sensitive skin and is prone to eczema flare-ups. One of the strangest things I've ever done, yet it was successful.The patch, which resembles a little pill, was applied on my canker sore overnight. When I woke up, the patch was enormous and had the consistency of a sponge.It was really unusual to apply what appeared to be a dry tablet on the sore, but when you wake up, the sore looks completely different. My lip (near lip line) developed one of those monstrous-sized canker sores, which was killing me and making me feel self-conscious because it was noticeable when I smiled. It usually takes me 3–4 weeks to get rid of canker soars this big. At CVS, I purchased some canker sore patches that worked okay but didn't make much progress. I decided to give this product a try after reading reviews on Amazon.com. I didn't use it immediately soon after receiving it because I wanted to give the patches another chance since I had already paid for them. After two days (the canker soar was still enormous), I made the decision to only use this, and boy was I glad I did! By days 3/4 and days 5 and 6, the canker soar had mostly disappeared. You might not think it's important, but I'll take five or six days over three or four weeks! I used it on a tiny canker sore under my tongue for a day or two till it started to fade, but I stopped using it there because I didn't want to waste the product. :-) The following day, it was totally gone.The following advice and observations:This does stain and it's strong, as others have mentioned. I simply keep a napkin next to my lips or chin to prevent spills from happening elsewhere—on my sink, shirt, etc. Additionally, you'll need to sort of scrape it off if it gets on your teeth, but that's a little nuisance. I dry the soar with a piece of paper towel and then apply 2-3 drops while holding the other napkin next to my lips.Pain: When you apply it, it does hurt. Ironically, despite the fact that it claims to be made of bee secretions, applying it causes a mild bee sting (those who have had a bee sting will understand what I mean). I simply close my eyes, take a deep breath, and count to 10. Seriously, the agony ends after 10–11 seconds, and you'll feel relieved.Taste: I didn't care because I knew this would taste medicinal. More than bearable, actually. Again, just swallow it; you won't even notice the taste.Yes, it's expensive for a small bottle, but if you've suffered from canker sores for over 30 years as I have, trust me, you won't mind paying $20 for the comfort and healing this product provides. :-)

Wow!! So first of all let me say these are awesome! I literally just got rid of a cold sore I’ve had for weeks and of course as soon as that one goes gone 2 more show up 🙃 that were MUCH bigger than the first. Just my luck right? Well I used a full tube of abreva (which cost nearly 4 times as much as this product) I decided I’d give these a try. It seemed too good to be true that this stuff heals AND conceals, but I got it nevertheless. I’m so glad I did! Of course these things can’t be fully invisible but I’m impressed with how much better they seem! I think if somebody tried to put makeup over these it may be entirely unnoticeable. These apply well, covering my cold sore entirely and making it appear two hundred percent better than it would if it were left uncovered (*shivers*). The secret is to carefully remove only half of the backing film that covers the adhesive along the perforation, position that portion of the cover's adhesive vertically on your face over the cold sore, and only THEN carefully peel back the remaining backing. As you adhere, smooth the sticky back cover clockwise over the remaining portions of the cold sore until it is evenly adhered over the entire sore. Obviously, avoid touching the wound! Prior to beginning the above-described application of the adhesive cover, I first applied hydrogen peroxide to the sore and allowed it to completely air dry. Using this method, it actually remains on for three or more days for me, which makes me extremely happy because I was extremely self-conscious at work without a cover for my cold sore and cosmetics does not stay on, plus sores are highly contagious throughout the cold sore cycle.
