My wife wanted a clothesline so that we wouldn't have to use the dryer as frequently because our laundry facilities are on a screened porch at the back of the house. Since it won't be exposed to rain or sunlight, this rope is ideal for that application, though I'm not sure how long it will survive outside. I will strongly recommend this for indoor use. Use it outdoors at your own risk. When I was a child, the majority of the residents in my area hung their clothes outside to dry. Over time, the cotton ropes would become black and start staining the white goods. Although towels get somewhat scratchy after drying in the shade without any movement, the wife is happy.

I own three of these useful things. My darling husband had arranged a property for us to stay in for a 12-day holiday, but hadn't made sure it had a washing and dryer! This inspired me to check Amazon for "travel clothesline"! I used the three lines and a folding metal drying rack to dry enough clothes for my family of four for two days. I was able to attach these to pillars, ceiling hooks, and even the umbrella on the patio table to complete the task because the house had a nice deck. I even used it to hang swimwear in a hotel room. I emailed the vendor with a very, very tiny problem, and they answered with more than I expected in terms of customer care. I now have some lovely wall hooks that I can stretch across the room to another hook so that I may hang laundry at home. One of them will be permanently hung in my home behind a curtain. I used to have a retractable clothesline much like this, but it stopped retracting. I'll just use one of these in its place. That's a lot of words to describe how great this thing is! Even if I don't believe I'll need one, I'll probably never go without one again.

This is excellent for drying on a porch. The variety of hanging choices, which are simple to install with clear instructions. Although it slides off the screws, it is much larger than it appears in the picture. It works perfectly to open my door and is ideal for beach, sheets, and Jean's towels. Before going to bed last night, I did a load and hung it to dry. It can support two loads. The line should be as thin as possible and have a variety of line lengths. I am only 5'1", so I need a step stool to hook and unhook lines, but it's not difficult for me. Just keep in mind to disconnect each line individually and hang onto it as you walk it back to the holder. When I first held it up, it returned to the winder with rocket-like velocity. I'll gladly buy a new one if it breaks. really excellent!

We adore this clothesline to the fullest. When retracted, it presents well and blends in. The unit's plastic casing is sufficiently strong, but the steel underneath is really sturdy. The clothesline is made of smooth, sturdy plastic on top of a stainless steel cable. It will need to be hung up, so you'll need some tools. I advise mounting the unit and hook plate into studs because this line can handle some big loads of laundry and you don't want the clothesline to be too strong for the wall.TL;DR It is obvious that this is made to resist the mistreatment of hotel visitors, making it a fantastic purchase for anyone wishing to install a discrete clothesline within.

It has been about two weeks since the retractable clothesline was put. It was built up with a 6' line height and a 35' span. We utilize two "stay-poles" that I constructed from freshly cut 6'1" closet clothes poles. To prevent chaffing on the line, I cut a 1/8" wide x 1" deep slot for the line to fall into and rolled off the rough edges at the bottom of the cut. The poles are spaced apart by my wife at about 12'. (I marked the distance on the line with red-colored electrical tape). Wake up, those who don't anticipate "line sag" when hanging clothes. Over time, all lines sag, and the more weight on the line, the deeper the sag. About twice a week, my wife utilizes the line. She cleaned a few area rugs from the kitchen and bathrooms today. Yes, there was line sag, but the stay-poles much reduce it. I hope that was useful.Mark

After putting it in our laundry room, I made the decision to post it between two porch beams so that it could dry clothing after the kids get out of the pool. I must add, it can support a substantial amount of weight. Since I've only used it frequently for a month, I can't say for sure how long it will last, but so far, so good. The only issue I see is that it crimps the cable when you tighten it to retain it, leaving a visible mark. It still works perfectly, however in the future it might become problematic. Regardless, I still adore it and find it to be really practical. Once we are finished utilizing it, we simply retract it, making it invisible.

I know.... If you're old enough, you're probably picturing Jethro Bodine or Ellie Mae Clampet from The Beverly Hillbillies.But I got bored of waiting for my better half to finish the task because I needed replacement drawstrings for numerous pairs of cargo pants. What I needed was this rope.Now, I wouldn't have bothered to repair the drawstring if the company that made the pants had made the initial belt loops on either side of the button and zipper closer together. (Thanks for allowing me to vent; but, this is unrelated to the clothesline rope.)It most likely would also work for a clothesline.When I was a child, we had a heavy-duty wire clothes line that was stretched between poles that were firmly planted in the ground.In contrast, this kind of rope was strung from wall to wall inside on hooks that were high up on the walls. In the winter, Mom would hang some laundry indoors. It also served to humidify. We had an adjacent laundry room with a Maytag ringer/washer and a copper double boiler running on two propane burners. there is no dryer. I'm not even certain they existed back then.Why just 4 rather than 5 stars? It is merely a rope. It's not crafted with gold.

following one use. Over a span of 23 feet, I set it up. I didn't reef on it, but before wrapping the cable around the bottom 'cleats' of the unit, I felt I had pulled it rather tight. I'm not sure how much the "cleats" can take or how hard I can actually pull it. When the towels were hung (see photo), the line drooped by roughly a foot due to the weight of the wet towels. The line, however, never dipped below the first droop after hanging the towels, and the towels dried perfectly in the sun and some gusty wind. After taking a shower, your skin is dry as soon as a line-dried towel touches it since they are stiff, rough, and extremely absorbent. The receiving hooks were supposed to be placed such that the line was level according to the directions, but I think I'll move them up by about a foot. I waited until the following day to retract the lines since they don't retract in a ZZIIPPPP fashion; instead, you have to grasp the ends and walk the lines back as they do so. 4 out of 5 stars since I'm not sure how this will hold up over the season (s)
