Yes, a grigri can be used with static rope, but it is important to note that the grigri will not work with all types of static rope. For example, the grigri will not work with rope that has a core and sheath construction, or rope that is less than 9 mm in diameter. Yes, you can jumar a dynamic rope, but it is not recommended. Jumaring (or prusiking) is a technique used to ascend a rope, and while it can be done with a dynamic rope, it puts a lot of wear and tear on the rope and can shorten its lifespan. NewDoar Hand Ascender Rock Climbing Tree Arborist Rappelling Gear Equipment Rope Clamp for 8~12MM Rope Review:

This ascender performs admirably. Initially, I was a little hesitant to use it when rock climbing, but after a few falls, this clip held me wonderfully! Really sturdy yet lightweight, I have great confidence in it to support me if necessary. The only thing that is a little challenging is getting this clip to alter and follow you if you are climbing in a direction other than straight up. Except than that, it's flawless.

Petzl - ASCENSION, Ergonomic Handled Ascender Review:

FedEx just delivered this to me today. Both the way it looks and feels in the hand are excellent. I would classify petzl items as first class since other people claimed it was worthwhile to fly first class. It won't be put to use for a while because I'm still awaiting other climbing equipment to arrive. I have so far like it and would buy it again.

Wild Country RopeMan MK1 Forged Ascender Review:

Love it to bits! In fact, I've bought two Ascenders already! I use them as part of my safety system when getting in and out of my hunting stands, and in all my thirty years of bowhunting, I have never felt safer! My hunting experience has changed drastically after I went from using the traditional "hunters safety gear" to a rock climbing harness! As I'm hanging from climbing stairs or my stand and come across tree limbs, I can attach a tether to the tree above the limb and clip a Wild Country Ropeman Ascender into the center loop because the rig I built has both a lineman's belt and the typical center loop. The second ascender should then be removed from the lineman's belt, moved above the limb, and kept permanently fastened to the tree. Once I'm in my stand, I never again have to fuss with trying to slip a safety harness through the back of my jacket! Additionally, I never have to worry about the tree tether getting in the way when I'm ready to shoot thanks to the Climbing Harness attached in the middle!Speaking of the Lineman's Belt, if you've ever found it difficult to tie a prusik knot with one hand while holding onto the tree with the other, you're going to enjoy how easy it is to use the Wild Country Ropeman Ascender! You may either grip the rope's tag end and draw yourself as tightly to the tree as you'd like to be, or you can simply raise up on the cable loop to disengage the teeth and lean back to gain additional slack.Thank you Wild Country for a great tool that has altered my hunting style!

EPIC PEAK Right Hand Ascender - Strong Climbing Equipment with Ergonomic Rubber Handle and Steel Cam - Best Used with 8-12mm Rope - Sport Climber, Arborist, and Mountaineering Safety Tool with Decal Review:

To save money, I initially tried tree climbing with a prusik knot for my foot loop, but it was awful (but it did work). I finally caved and purchased this, and the difference was substantial. The advantages outweigh the cost. I've seen a lot of climbers use rope men and various locking mechanisms on YouTube, but I don't see why you wouldn't choose something like this with a handle. The only problem I can think of is the wear that may possibly occur because it employs teeth to catch on to the rope rather than a gri gri's system? Anyhow, the ascender has holes for a variety of carabiner types, and the handle is covered in very durable foam.

Lixada Rock Climbing Ascender Ultralight Fall Arrest Protection Belay Device Self-Locking 8-13MM Rope Grip Clamp for Outdoor Climbing and Rescue Review:

This is what I purchased for a thin and lightweight rope grip. It is the smallest ascender or rope grip I've ever bought! It climbs a rope without resistance and locks when the carabiner eye hole is pulled downward. It will be put to use on my extension ladders along with a safety rope. (As carried out on commercial ladders.)When performing tree work, I'll also utilize it as a chest ascender and safety rope hold.Ed.

Camp USA Lift Ascender Review:

I have this ascender's "knock off." The original carbon duplicate of this is rated for 100 kg, but it had a 'tooth' that caught the rope that was too smooth. I had to roughen it up, and it then worked well. I wouldn't use this for people because the "pinch" method of grabbing the rope places way too much stress on the rope, but I do use it to pull the bitter end of my lifting rope because I love how it slides up the rope and goes on and off. I can also easily push the grip "tooth" to freely move down the rope. All in all, this is a great design for lower forced needs.I'm not sure what "the usa" has to do with something created in Italy.
