These are fantastic products! I bought a house that had been abandoned for more than a year (estate issues). My bathroom sink has been obstinate for what seems like ages. It finally gave up and clogged 100% a few months ago. I did not drain at all. I tried using a super-cheap technique and what I already had at home—baking soda and vinegar—but it didn't work. After doing some research on Amazon, I decided to purchase a plumbers auger, or "snake," for the drain. That did affect the drain since it made it possible for it to empty the water that had been collecting in the sink for a few days at that point. But that didn't make my problem go away. I was still unable to use the sink more than a trickle for fear that it would overflow. Before I gave up and hired a plumber, I tried this product one last time. Even though I adhered to the instructions to the letter, nothing seemed to have changed. After the required wait period, the hot water I poured down the drain backed up again! And to make matters worse, it was emitting a kind of chemical "smoke" into the air! I was left with roughly a half of a bottle because that didn't work. I renounce! I'm making a plumbing call. A few months later, I still haven't called the plumber. I was brushing my teeth in the shower every day due to my amazing procrastination abilities and a work schedule that didn't coincide with any plumbers! After a little while, foam began to develop from beneath the bowl, so I filled the sink with more water. My sink drained out of the blue with a whoosh-like sucking sound in the background. It's been so long since I last brushed my teeth in the sink that I forgot what it felt like. Nothing is more wonderful than the huge air gurgle that occurs when a drain that has been blocked for THREE YEARS is unclogged. In fact, three years. I just purchased this item yesterday. This item is really fantastic! I've had issues with my main drain for more than five years. When I inquire about what I can do, the response I receive is that they can install a camera for $250 and check to see if they might need to dig up my floors and replace the line—a "solution" I'm not willing to consider. I have a toilet where it's completely unpredictable whether or not the #2 will flush. Despite repeated reminders to use the other restroom, the children would only remember to do so a few times before returning to clogging the toilet. These kids weren't wasting any toilet paper, so we checked how much they were using for their #2s.Then Christmas came, and it literally took three hours of plunging and snaking to the point where the entire porcelain bowl was left with all the marks. I had to drain it and use Barkeepers Friend to clean up the marks after we finally got it to go down because it looked so horrendous I couldn't stand to look at it. I so conclude that something must be there. Since the long-haired ladies use that bathroom the most, we did catch one kid flinging hair that got lodged in the shower drain there; perhaps that was it, or a hot wheel vehicle or something. If it was a wad of hair or a q-tip, surely some chemical would dissolve it, but of course all the draino things say no toilets...so I looked for a chemical plunger for the toilet and came across this and figured $12 was worth a try to avoid Roto Rooter. One day, I knew I was going to have to spend the $100 for the rotorooter when whatever it was finally became stronger than our plunging ability.I made the decision to hold off on using it right away in order to avoid the inevitable next youngster backing it up in the wrong toilet. And that was last night. I added an additional 4 cups of boiling water, which is more than usual. When I observed no movement, I crossed my fingers and flushed. All the way to the top, it backed up. Argh! I believed I had been duped. When I picked up the plunger and sighed, I was prepared to stay there for another hour or two as usual. But lo and behold, on the second plunge, everything sucked away! YAY!Now that it's all gone, I'm going back to get another bottle just in case, but it definitely did something! And I didn't have to dive for another two hours! I'm hoping that cleared everything up, but I'm buying another one to prepare for a gigantic hairball or whatever was down there.
