adore cats My two cats were adept at using the litter box, but I was unable to do so. Cleaning the item was the worst. They were excellent, but I was the one who was rebelling. In addition, I believe that one of my cats' asthma attack was brought on by inhaling the fine clay litter.I had their litter box set up on top of the toilet for a few months while I was in a precontemplation phase. They felt completely at ease climbing up there to conduct themselves. Then, I switched to City Kitty Trainer one day as a surprise to them. This worked great, but my heavier cat didn't seem to be very at ease balancing on the toilet seat. I then changed to this because it had a larger cat seat. I agree that it would be wonderful if the wings were a bit more robust, perhaps with some sort of support beam underneath. But I've had no problems with it tipping over or anything like that.My kitties were about 8 months and 1.5 years old, respectively. From the time I started these toilet trainer things until I got them where I wanted them, it took approximately 2-3 months. They have been using the last step for around five to six months.The last ring is still on and I don't intend to take it off. They appear to enjoy the increased foot room, and 99% of the time, they flush their waste into the toilet (bypassing the ring they are standing on).When using the black light flashlight to illuminate the toilet and examine their urine, it may be determined whether they had urinated prior to any unneeded flushes.After flushing the toilet, I also used to and still do the following: spray the interior of the bowl with a stain and odor remover like Natures Miracle. (The substance isn't really effective on carpet. but works fairly well for cat urine from the toilet. Keep in mind that cats are far more sensitive to odours than people are. Also, avoid inhaling anything hazardous that can cause asthma. Their bathroom is more hygienic than mine. Ha!Not everything has been perfect. My female had one problem with urinating on the carpet, though. I believe stress was to blame. I started giving them incentives for a filthy toilet and especially if I catch either one in the act, and I raised her physical activity level. I dash inside to help them. They now rush inside to grab their goodie as soon as they hear me flush the toilet. She responded to praise so quickly that it astounded me.I hope someone can benefit from my tale. Two years ago, I used this kit to potty train my cats. Today, my kitties are still using the restroom. My three-year-old cats are kittens. In February 2014, when the cats were still older kittens, I began potty training them on a single toilet. They probably took a year to get used to the concept, in my opinion. They now behave naturally when using the restroom. With the Cats Of Thrones Toilet Seat for Cats Starter Kit, I initially began my training. I botched my training because of that kit's significant shortcomings and confusing directions (more on that later). In May 2014, I made the choice to purchase CitiKitty. With the CitiKitty and a few other tools, I was able to complete potty training. This evaluation will serve as a kind of road map to record my accomplishments. This kit isn't flawless, therefore I only gave it four instead of five stars to offer you the best chance of success!You'll also need the following items:ââ¬âA brand-new toilet seat, SPECIFICALLY the Mayfair model with the child seat that detaches. The child seat is fairly flat and may be removed from the adult seat if necessary (pro tip: don't do this; keep using it forever). After installation, it is rather simple to remove the entire toilet seat on and off and clean it. For various toilets, there are circular and extended versions available: 183SLOWA Mayfair Elongated, White NextStep Adult Toilet Seat with Built-In Child Potty Training Seat. This seat is designed to reduce the size of the toilet seat hole so that you cats feel more comfortable using it. Additionally, utilizing this seat, you are not required to complete more than six punchouts on the CityKitty. My cat would defecate in the sink until I discovered that with a full-sized seat, he accidentally fell in while attempting to use the toilet.ââ¬âCat litter that is flushable. I used chicken feed and Cat's Pride Premium Scoopable Cat Litter Jug, 14-Pound, which you can get from Walmart (buy from Tractor Supply Company, a farm supply store). Yes, you need to remember to take this extra step. Which is worseââ¬âhaving to constantly stow this child seat away or having to scoop the cat litter every day and risk having it track all over your house and odor like feces? Or maybe your cats have stopped using the toilet because they are too afraid of falling in? Simply said, I decide to treat my cat like a kid. Additionally, the child seat prevents some water "splash back".ââ¬â Comply with CitiKitty's directions. Take your time taking off the rings.ââ¬âTo tell your cats that the toilet is their new litter box, mix the Precious Cat Litter Attractant into the litter.ââ¬âIf you share a toilet with two cats, make sure to check it twice a day and flush all waste. I do not recommend more than 2 cats per toilet!! During training, you MUST keep the litter and area clean all the times. This means vacuuming/sweeping/changing the litter and wiping the area with a pet stain cleaner like Nature's Miracle. You will waste a lot of litter (that's why I used chicken feed; costs $12 for 40 pounds).ââ¬âClean the toilet bowl and seats often. Cats will miss and can get pee on the seats. Removable seat design from the mayfair seat helps a lot!ââ¬âDuct tape your toilet lid to the water reservoir. My one cat is aggressive with the burying action and she clawed at the lid one time and it shut the lid on the toilet. The lid might have shut on her, too, I don't know. I came home to find poop on the floor because cats couldn't use the toilet!ââ¬âIf you have to go away for a long time (a weekend) and won't be around for more than 24 hours, I recommend you bring out the litter box. If no one is there to flush, cats will poop else where with a dirty toilet! My cats have no problem going back to the toilet once the litter box is removed again.Avoid doing the following:ââ¬âDon't make your cat use the adult human toilet seat. I had this problem while using the Cat of Thrones toilet seat. My cat fell in once and started using the bathtub and the sink! I now have to put a bucket in my sink and leave 1 inch of water in my tub as deterrent because my one cat now prefers to poop in these spots instead if the toilet if I do not catch him. Do not make the same mistake I did, take precautions!ââ¬âDo not skimp on litter and not change it frequently.

Okay, so this has been a success, but I believe there are some tips or things you must do in order for this to be successful.1.) I know this is disgusting, but when you get to the part where you actually mount the system on the toilet, SAVE HIS Feces FROM HIS LITTER BOX. Oh my gosh, placing the poop there was what ultimately did the work and enabled him to utilize the red step after his two-day constipation.2.) After he has been pooping nonstop at the red stage, keep some pee or excrement and place some on the outside ring and some in the toilet so that they may smell it when you get to the orange step. We only ever had one accident, and all we did was pick it up (not with bare hands, hehe) and throw it into the toilet while he watched. Till they are continuously peeing in the center, keep them on the orange stage for the longest. When transitioning from the final orange stage step to the green stage, be careful not to flush the toilet!3. Permit your cat to become accustomed to the constant flushing of the toilet. Place him on a counter and allow him to observe. Though he was initially frightened, my cat adores it.4.) Keep an eye on your cat or simply notice when he does potty throughout the day. During the orange period, I'm very certain there were a LOT of occasions when I knew he needed to use the restroom because he would go to the spot where his previous litter box would be. In those situations, I would take him to the toilet and force him to sit down. With plenty of petting and rewards, I did this at least five times, and I'm sure there would have been more mishaps if I hadn't been there.5.) Purchase a stool with grooves and a litter mat. When my cat climbs up on it, almost all of the waste remains on the stool. I'd merely suggest this as a pleasant addition.Even though typing it all down sounds like a lot of labor, it hasn't been difficult. To ensure that I would be at home to watch him, I only altered the stages on the weekends. This won't take a lot of time because I wasn't there during the workdays. The day before, maybe 15 minutes, and longer when we changed stages. But bear in mind that every cat is unique.Time required: 1.5 months! (Slow down if necessary!)One accident in all, right by the restroom.Value it? YES! Hallelujah, I guess, that I'm not paying for trash any longer.

You need the original 3-tray system in order to use this product, so don't buy this unless you have it already. The size differences between the original 3 trays proved too large for my cats, so the first time I attempted to toilet train them, I made my own transitional trays, first with cardboard (which became soaked and gross very quickly, even when coated with duct tape) then with a plastic cutting board. I had them fully trained for about a month before they regressed after we went on vacation and now that I've restarted the training, the last thing I wanted to do was go back to making my own trays again. I was very glad to see they're offering these transitional trays and I've had a lot of success with them. We're still at the green tray in this set, but it's gone much smoother this time.For those who were frustrated about the liquids getting down around the edges of the trays, this is because of where your cat is squatting on the tray during the early stages. One of mine would do this too, but once we moved to the first green tray, he could no longer squat close enough to an edge to do that anymore. The system is designed to gradually push your cat's position to the toilet seat, so have patience in those early stages and accept that it will be messy until you get to the later stages. There are Yahoo groups you can join for advice on how to go about toilet training your cat and those are very helpful when things get frustrating and you're wondering where you're going wrong (CatsT-Training is the best one I've found for this).

Cats will use a dirty toilet to relieve themselves if no one is there to flush it! Once the litter box is put back in place, my cats have no trouble using the restroom once more.Keeping away from the following:ââ¬âAvoid forcing your cat to use the seat of the adult human toilet. While utilizing the Cat of Thrones toilet seat, I ran into this issue. After my cat fell in, she began utilizing the sink and bathtub. My lone cat now chooses to defecate in my sink and bathtub instead of the toilet if I do not catch him, therefore I have to leave a bucket there as a deterrent. Take cautious so you don't make the same error I did!ââ¬âMake sure to provide adequate litter and change it periodically. Due to the shallowness and small surface area of the CitiKitty, excrement and/or urine will frequently be visible because of a shortage of litter. The cat will avoid the litter and seek for a cleaner location to relieve itself if it smells like pee or excrement. You do not want this.ââ¬âNever use the "if it's yellow, let it mellow" philosophy when flushing the toilet. In addition to normal human use, check your toilet frequently (at least twice each day) to ensure the water is constantly clean. I accidentally left the cats alone for an entire weekend one time, and when I came back, there was feces in my bathtub. I discovered that cats do not like using the restroom if a different cat has already fecesd in it (dirty water = dirty litter). Oddly, cats and people are similar. I also wouldn't want to urinate on someone else's waste. Keep an eye out and flush, flush, flush!ââ¬âAvoid observing your cat use the restroom. They may feel exposed when using the restroom due to its open design. I discovered that while urinating, my one cat would always FACE the toilet cover. However, whenever he sensed that I was watching, he would either try to pee with his back to the toilet cover or, in the worst case scenario, stand up and depart while still peeing. Because of the incorrect angle, there was pee all over the place. Allow your kitties to go potty on their own. Sometimes, both of my cats will indicate that they need to use the restroom, but if they notice that I am following them, they will circle the toilet and leave.ââ¬âWhen I had to use the restroom once, my cat came with me (because they like to be locked in with you).

Great results! Our cat was young and had just undergone spaying. Since then, we have moved into three different homes. I was concerned that she could regress, but she never did. She even used the potty while there was another cat using a litter box in the same home. She continued using the restroom despite the litter box.
