My young indoor cat was first wary of this new object, but now she absolutely adores it. For scratching, stretching, playing, and occasionally just lounging in the middle, she used every angle of it. She rubs her cheek, shin, and forehead all over it because it has some sort of catnip embedded right in it. She has even invented brand-new kitteh games and taught us how to play them. We like to place her toys on top and watch as she stalks, hunts, and ultimately kills them by knocking them over. As in bowling, we as humans must "reset the pins." I have so many cat toys and scratching posts that I can't even begin to count, but this one is the greatest so far! extremely simple to put together. The two little marbles in the base keep the cats amused for hours. A benefit is having two separate surfaces to scratch on. With both kitties on either side at once, it is incredibly robust and does not even budge! I did take the ball away since one of the kittens became hogtied after getting it wrapped around his paw in some way. All went well because I was there overseeing, but now it's a solo play toy without the elastic! It almost looks like three toys in one. Definitely worth the cost. I've shared it with my Facebook friends, but I caution them to cut the ball off in light of what happened to Finnly and another friend's admonition as well.

I had some doubts that our boys wouldn't accidentally knock it over while trying to scratch. It is quite stable and strong. One of our cats tried to climb it like a tree when we first put it together, but it didn't topple over. They've had it for about three weeks now, and they frequently utilize it. The only issue I have is that it moves around on hardwood floors, but I'd rather deal with it than ruin my couch!

My cats enjoy them so much that I keep replacing them when they break, which tells you two things: they aren't particularly durable. I just got my third hammock scratcher. It is a favorite place for my two cats to sit, lie, and scratch. It's only semi-stable, which is perhaps the best that corrugated cardboard can offer; it works well for my little cat (9 pounds), but not so well for my large boy (18 pounds). It's OK for the young one to sleep on it for as long as they like, but when my large son uses it for a while, the entire thing ultimately falls apart. Although I don't mind replacing it, I do wish it were a little stronger and better constructed so that I wouldn't need to do it as regularly. The cats, however, just like it!

Regarding this cat scratching post, I simply cannot rave enough.An explanation: I have a Bengal cat, and she enjoys scratching. Fortunately, she does a fantastic job of only scratching her posts. Sadly, scratching posts used to only last us one or two months at best until the twill started to peel apart and she destroyed the post entirely. I would frequently go to the pet store and, for $25 to $30, replace it with a hideous carpeted item.On Amazon, I later discovered this one. The pricing is firstly GREAT. Identical in price to those found at pet stores, but much better. This scratching post ought to cost at least $50 because it is so exquisite and well-made. It blends in so well with my furnishings that you hardly even see it. It is also DURABLE. It has been in my possession for almost nine months, and my cat has not yet managed to unravel it or damage it. Going through scratching posts every two months is so different from this. When I first assembled it (which was quite simple to do, by the way), I sat it down and informed my boyfriend that because of the way it was made, if the cat destroys it this month, I could simply go to a craft store and buy new twill (save some money). However, this post has not yet been removed! I'll say it again: STURDY! In addition, you may DIY it by changing the twill if the cat ever does manage to destroy it rather than discarding the complete post because of the wood components.The ball and feather that were affixed to the top were the icing on the cake. Feathers are my cat's favorite and she enjoys playing with them on her posts. This scratching post is absolutely excellent in every way.
