The pain of losing a valued family member is unlike any other.This necklace for a mini urn is ideal. Richter, our cherished dog, went away less than two weeks ago. My Miniature Schnauzer passed away from cancer recently. I was looking for an urn that honored his life rather than served as a constant reminder of his passing. I had his paw cast in plaster years ago, and it still fit inside the exhibit, even though it was too late to use the provided equipment to get a paw imprint. There is plenty of space inside the box. I was able to keep his collar and harness in addition to the box containing his ashes that the burial home provided me. If I choose to hold one of his favorite toys, there is still space within. I still feel a great deal of pain from his passing, but I appreciate being able to show a picture of him smiling next to his pawprint. This is precisely what I needed to honor his life, and I got it. My family and friends are happy that I pursued this concept. I had to make a small tweak to the design to fit the plaster cast, but if I had been able to use the kit that came with it, I definitely could have produced a slimmer version.

At first glance, I must admit, I thought this product was lovely for the price, however upon closer examination, I saw a few imperfections on the front of the frame. Both of the two that I had ordered, one with a paint bubble and the other with paint scratches on the bottom of the photo side frame, were imperfect. I chose to return them in hopes of getting frames without faults, however the two additional frames I received, had similar, if not worse, problems. One of the boxes already had a small tab sticking out of it, giving the impression that it had been opened. I initially believed I had just received a defective batch, but I now believe a manufacturing fault may have occurred. It's a shame because the product initially has a nice appearance, but paint bubbles and scratches prevent this from becoming a memorable object. I'm still looking.

I'm ecstatic about this frame. After using it, I agree that larger dog collars probably aren't the ideal use for it, but our little cat's collar was the right size. The bell was held firmly in place despite my first concern that it would "dangle" a little due to the gap between the mat and the glass. It's nothing to worry about for me, simply something I hadn't considered previously. I had no problems with the photo opening either. I utilized a 4x6 print of the day he moved in with us, centering it, taping it to the back of the mat, and trimming it to fit the frame as necessary. Other than needing a little mild patience with the adjustable bracket bit and making sure it didn't harm the mat, I had no trouble getting his collar through the slots. I was worried that I didn't have many horizontal photos, but the rear of the frame is designed so that I just had to rotate it once before putting it back in and stand the frame up on its side. It's a fantastic product that looks to be nicely built, and I'm thrilled to have it in my home as a memento of the finest cat ever.

Now that I have two dogs, I wanted a matching one to go with the one I received as a gift for my first dog. These will never be hard decorations, first and foremost. This is not a paste that hardens; there is no baking involved. It nearly has the consistency of waxy play-dough that you roll out, put their paw into, and over the course of 24 hours, it gradually hardens to rubber. If you make your ornaments smaller than the cutter they supply, you actually get enough in one to make more than one (they provide you with everything except the foil they say makes it easier to keep the material smooth when rolling it out). Your hands will eventually become sore from the roller (I wound up making 4 ornaments when all was said and done).Before pushing their paw into the material, properly clean it because this thing will display every bit of dirt. And it's non-toxic and safe for them. After drying, it can also be painted on. To identify whose ornament it was, I used standard art project paint from Michael's and added their names to the bottom. The material is also quite pliable; I used it to make two additional ornaments. I cut out letters, placed them on top, then moulded them into the shape of bones before painting them all after they had dried (for pets who have passed on).I won't lie; this will resemble a kid's craft in some ways. If you want something that is cooked in a kiln and then glazed, do not get this. But if you simply wanted something enjoyable to always remember your pet by and enjoy doing things yourself (besides, it created for some enjoyable moments with my pups), then I strongly recommend this. These were the enjoyable, family ornaments that I get to remember making with them:) I have porcelain "Gotcha Day" decorations from Etsy to be all nice looking.
