Although this product functions, the design might be improved. The following two things bothered me:1) I hoped to be able to lower my bundle of cables into the middle and fan them out to the sides like a 66 block. You cannot accomplish this because there is no opening at the top or bottom. It makes it more challenging to dress the cables nicely.2) Rather of TIE/EIA 568 B, this block is connected. This alone is not a problem, but the pin out that it utilizes is not stated anywhere in the literature. To find out how a cable was wired, I had to wire map it after punching down one end and terminating the other. But given that I thought it was 568-B, I'm delighted I did it. When they could have just written this in the manual, it would have saved time and effort.I gave the device a 4-star rating since it functions and has a good, compact form factor.

At first, I intended to purchase all of the components for the wall outlets as well as punchdown tools. I made the decision to purchase the wall outlets with the female/female Cat 5e keystone jacks after I saw this kit so I could just connect into them. The lines were to be terminated in the main panel anyhow, thus the crimping and supplied Cat 5e jacks worked perfectly.The tester (9v battery not supplied) prevented two of my errors! I believed that I had been rather thorough. On one of my connections, I misplaced two wires, and on another, I didn't correctly clamp, causing a few wires to make improper contact.Quick tip: When testing your connection at both ends, take sure to look at the order of the lights. Connectivity is indicated by the lights at either end, however a loopback (one without a battery) will indicate if the lights are not in the correct order.

This product is really helpful because it is essentially a crossover cable in a compact form. It is not necessary to maintain specialized Cat5 cables on hand in case you ever need to use a crossover. My home network was severely suffering as a result of the 9 TB of data transfers I was doing between my old server and new server. I was able to connect the computers to one another immediately utilizing this, which led to a very reliable transfer. If you're trying to connect two PCs, you might not need this because newer gigabit NICs can auto-negotiate. Since the early 1990s, I have been installing phone and networking wires, but I have never come across a tool that makes such a difficult process much simpler to complete. Anyone who has ever terminated RJ45 ends will tell you that you need to practice this skill frequently to stay proficient. Every time I've had to terminate one, the first one takes me thirty minutes, and the second one takes me five. With these modern ends, you can inspect and confirm the work before crimping. Incredible product and amazing technology. Excellent shipping times and customer support. I was dreading having to complete these, so this was a relief. It was so simple that I ended up running extra wire and carrying out a few more tasks than I would have otherwise done using the traditional approach.

The jacket is the only thing that anyone might find problematic. As long as the cable is used indoors, it works wonderfully and is reasonably priced. The jacket is a light vinyl, so it won't hold up to abuse or outside use. I pulled it around the house to wirelessly connect a number of security cameras on a temporary basis before moving on to the next one. The cable exhibited little drag and was simple to use. It was simple to roll up and didn't require memorized twists as some cables do, which makes them challenging to handle. A nick in the jacket, however, quickly turned into a full split (see Picture). The cable was still usable, but it only served as an illustration of how sensitive the jacket is. It will work nicely for a fixed interior installation. However, the jacket simply isn't tough enough to withstand the abuse when being dragged around to create a network.
