A car antenna can drain a battery if it is not properly maintained. The battery will slowly lose its charge over time if the antenna is not regularly cleaned and inspected.
An antenna signal can be too strong if it is not properly tuned. An antenna that is too close to a power line or other source of electromagnetic interference can also produce a strong signal.
You can go through a carwash with a long antenna, but you will need to be careful. The antenna may hit the walls or ceiling of the carwash, causing damage.

It depends, as so many people have said, on range. On a 2018 JL Wrangler, this is. I enjoy listening to a radio station in Asheville, North Carolina, which is just around 100 miles from Charlotte. I can hear the station reasonably well in west Charlotte (90 to 100 miles away); there is some static, but not enough to deter me. I'm losing signal east of Charlotte in the 120-mile area and beyond, making it difficult to continue listening to the same station. Even in west Charlotte, the terrain and driving angle are important. I'm content enough to hang onto these antennae. I did return a 5" model, but there was insufficient reception on the same station. Although I've only had it a short while, it has already withstood multiple car washes and doesn't seem to get hung up as easily as the OEM antennae. It wasn't received as well as the factory, but that was to be expected.Installing was easy.My only worry is that you must tighten it with your hands or else risk ruining the rubber with pliers. And I deducted a star for durability because I discovered I could continue twisting the upper rubber section even after the threads stopped rotating. Still employed, so I won't worry about it. I'll get a 15" or 16" model to free up that one station a little bit if this one ever breaks.

Let's get right to it. There will be a drop in sound quality when using terrestrial (normal) radio, but it's not a deal-breaker. You won't have ANY issues with this antenna if you have satellite radio. In comparison to the factory sword that towering above the vehicle that is continuously wriggling, it makes my Gladiator appear lot better. In order to remove it for riding through an automatic wash, simply grab some pliers or a small wrench and remove the OEM antenna. The primary antenna component can be turned out by hand while the base will remain firmly screwed into the slot.

Only a very tiny number of people have reported losing some reception. As someone who frequently listens to AM, I can say that the signal seems the same or might even be significantly better over the factory whip. I commute to the city from my home in Pennsylvania's north of Pittsburgh for employment. The AM signal was weak where I live; with this, it appears to be slightly improved. My signal gets better as I go closer to the city. My FM and XM signals remain the same. Due to the fact that I no longer have to worry about the antenna colliding, this high-quality product makes it simpler for me to fit my Raptor into smaller garages.

A sturdy antenna was bought to attach a portable XM radio to the dash of a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ). This proved to be precisely the right length to extend from the centre of the dashboard along the drivers-side floor trim to the roof just above the third brake light. The magnet has kept the antenna in the same position since installation, and reception is good. I would buy this antenna once more if I ever had to install another XM radio similar to this one.

This kit functions perfectly. However, it comes with NO INSTRUCTIONS AT ALL, and there is an additional blue wire linked to the connector that has no information about what it does or how to connect it.This blue cable MUST be attached to the Remote Out line from your head unit on my 2012 Honda Ridgeline (the wire that remotely turns on external amplifiers or controls power antennas). My Honda Ridgeline has an antenna pre-amplifier that requires power from the head unit in order to function; otherwise, reception will be terrible, despite the fact that the lack of instructions makes absolutely no sense.Check to discover whether your Honda has an antenna pre-amp that needs to be powered by this wire if you didn't connect this line and your radio reception is poor or worse than with the original factory unit.

Since I don't use AM/FM, I won't discuss that in my evaluation other than to note the following numerous points: I tried two channels at first, but both were static. This is in California's east bay region. Before, those two channels were unbroken. In terms of daily usability, it makes little difference to me, but let's be honest, I'm quite sure Ford's engineers would have chosen that option if it had been able to draw that kind of band from an unpowered stick of aluminum that was less than 1/4 the OEM height. There's a reason the OEM is three feet long.So there is no doubt that your reception will degrade due to the inherent principles of radio frequency capture. outside of, example, downtown Los Angeles or Atlanta. With the same design and some clever machining, they could significantly extend their range by wrapping a copper coil around an epoxy with a carbon texture.Anyone who works in the antenna industry should be aware that aluminum isn't the ideal material. All in all, I merely desired the removal of my idiotic whip antenna. This dealt with that. Excellent construction quality and slick appearance. Sirius and Bluetooth functionality remain unchanged. It accomplishes my goals and looks amazing. 5/5. But if you're going to Land 101 in god's country, stick with stock if you're going to listen to the Wayne Newton hour.

Great Looking Antenna for your Toyota Tundra No More Hitting Garage Door with your Antenna!

For my 2014 Toyota Tundra, I purchased this. Easy truck modification The new antenna has a screw to replace the old one. For comparison, I reside in the NW Houston suburbs. This antenna has roughly 99% reception, compared to 100% with my stock antenna. I continue to receive all of my HD and low-power FM stations. I don't employ AM. I deducted 1% since I occasionally experienced a "not as clear" moment, but it would pass quickly. Although the sound quality isn't as clear as it could be, you can still hear the stations just fine. It only occurs occasionally and on specific stations. That was never a problem with my stock antenna. Not at all a big deal.

I made the decision to test Rydonair after reading reviews on "The Stubby" and its several counterfeit versions, which are widely available on Amazon and have serious reception and fitting issues. I am quite pleased with the way the product was received, how it fit, and how sturdy it was.The product fits more flush to the body than my OEM antenna did, it keeps 90% of its reception quality and distance in both city and backcountry usage, and it does not whistle at high speeds like some of its comparable-length competitors. Last but not least, I adore the 2x2 carbon fiber wrap they placed around the antenna's base because it perfectly complements the interior carbon fiber package of my Raptor. Sometimes, the little things reveal how much an organization cares. Most importantly, I can now drive into my garage without catching my antenna on the garage door! Thank you, Rydonair! In the near future, I'll be looking for additional things from you people.

Update! I've had this little antenna for more than two months now. The first photo was taken the day I first installed it, and the second was taken today. It has not changed. In Texas, I reside in a pretty remote region. I've never had a problem with reception. I've heard a lot of complaints about the reception on this site; if the supplied cupholder won't fit, there won't be any reception. You won't experience any problems if you try the fix below. Hope this is helpful. It's a fantastic product, and it's wonderful not to have to worry about the whip problem! This antenna is awesome! I just got it today and I'm overjoyed. I own a JKU from 2015. It didn't fit the first time I tried to screw it in. I read the evaluations and discovered these instructions from Steve on 4/23/16; they were perfect. In spite of living in a remote part of Texas, I was able to tune in FM, AM, and my XM after installation, and it sounds wonderful! Here is Steve's Review's solution to the fitting problems with JK
If you're looking to boost your car's radio reception, you might be wondering if an aftermarket antenna will do the trick. In most cases, the answer is yes! Aftermarket antennas are designed to improve radio reception by providing a clear signal path to the radio receiver. In some cases, they can even outperform the factory-installed antenna.
A longer car antenna does not necessarily mean better reception. It all depends on the type of antenna you have. A longer antenna may give you a better range, but a shorter antenna may give you better reception quality.
If you have an aluminum foil, you can easily boost your antenna signal. Just place the foil on the top of your antenna and it will help to amplify the signal.
When it comes to car antennas, size definitely matters. A bigger antenna will give you better reception, while a smaller one will give you poorer reception. If you're looking for the best possible reception, go for the biggest antenna you can find.
There is no scientific evidence to support the claim that touching a radio antenna improves reception. In fact, most experts agree that it is more likely to cause interference than improve the signal.
If your car antenna isn't giving you the best possible reception, there are a few things you can do to try to boost the signal. First, check to see if the antenna is securely fastened to the car. If it's not, try tightening it or re-attaching it. If that doesn't help, you can try moving the antenna to a different location on the car. Sometimes, simply moving the antenna a few inches can make a big difference in the quality of the signal. You can also try using a signal amplifier, which can be installed inline between the antenna and
