There are a few potential side effects to taking calcium supplements. These include constipation, stomach upset, and kidney stones. However, these side effects are relatively rare and most people tolerate calcium supplements well. Be sure to talk to your doctor before starting any supplement, especially if you have a history of kidney stones.
There is no evidence that calcium pills cause weight gain. In fact, calcium may help with weight loss by helping to break down fat cells.
There are many ways to increase calcium intake naturally. Increasing calcium-rich foods in the diet is one way to do this, such as by consuming more dark leafy greens, almonds, and sesame seeds. Another way to increase calcium absorption is to take a vitamin D supplement, as vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium. Finally, spending time in the sun also helps the body produce vitamin D.
If you're not sure whether you need calcium, talk to your doctor. They can help you determine if you're at risk for calcium deficiency and whether calcium supplements are right for you.

I had awful symptoms for years, including face flushing, anxiety, restlessness, exhaustion, and dizziness. My doctor tested me on a variety of psychiatric medications, but I never felt completely better and occasionally significantly worse. I read up on magnesium shortage and contacted the doctor about it after doing some research. He asserted that if I were taking a multivitamin, that ought to be all I needed, and that if vitamins were truly effective, "everyone would be taking them." I then made the decision to act independently and looked up this vitamin online. I started to feel better after a few weeks of using it, and after about a month I was feeling considerably better. I used to get three to five colds each year, but the zinc also helps avoid them. I may now experience one cold each winter. This supplement, in my opinion, has been quite helpful. I haven't taken any of those awful medications for the past three years, and I feel terrific. Thank goodness for online research and self-diagnosis!

The products from Garden of Life (GOL) are my preferred vitamin brand. All of the items I've bought from them have been made from whole food sources rather than synthetic chemicals. A few years ago, I received an osteoporosis diagnosis. I personally wanted to treat the osteoporosis naturally (and I'm NOT recommending that anyone would follow my example). (Since I am not a doctor, I think you should follow your doctor's advice; nonetheless, this is just my opinion.) GOL's Raw Calcium is a whole-food plant-based product that doesn't contain animal bones, broken rocks, limestone, or chalk. The Raw Calcium formulation also has Vitamins D3 and K2 to aid in absorption. In order to strengthen bones, calcium and other vitamins and minerals are also present. Finally, Raw probiotics and enzymes are included in GOL Raw Calcium. Prior to discovering this product, I was combining a number of various supplements—including magnesium, boron, and strontium—some of which required separate daily doses. It was expensive and confusing. I heartily endorse this item.

According to them, this calcium is the one that is most likely to be absorbed. The pink color and tiny size of the pills appeal to me. They are not at all rough and are covered. I like the addition of vitamin D, which might increase its efficacy. Does it operate? I suppose I lack proof, but based on my doctor's advice and my examination of online calcium supplement material, this looks to be an excellent supplement.

I have been a great believer that calcium is one of the most vital minerals to have in your body, especially as you get older. This was proved when I had gastric bypass surgery approximately 10 years ago and was given a supplement regime. I was previously taking vitamin's and mineral supplements, but had to change what I was taking owing to my altered digestive track. Calcium was one of the major changes.Recently I started looking into the supplements I was taking and decided I wanted to go more natural with my supplements and spent a month in research and found Naturelo. With favorable reviews and research I went with them, especially for their plant based calcium supplement. They had an excellent blend of Vitamin D and Magnesium, which is essential to breakdown calcium and some extra vitamins and minerals that make it a fantastic supplement all around. I take this together with their Whole Food Multivitamin for Men and it replaces all of the artificial supplements I was taking before. So, now I get all of the same or more of the vitamins and minerals that my physicians suggested, however, it's a far higher quality of nutrition that makes me feel amazing.

Due to a persistent side effect from thyroid surgery, I've been taking 2 of these twice daily for over a year. Together with a few prescription medications, they prevent me from experiencing all the unpleasant symptoms of low calcium. I'm confident that until my next dose, I'll be alright thanks to the longer release and additional D3 for absorption. To the ordinary person, these may appear to be horse pills, but if taking them is the only thing preventing me from visiting the emergency room, I'll gladly accept them. It helps to have something in your stomach for them to land on since they go down very smoothly. I take them no less than two hours after dinner and within an hour of eating breakfast. I cannot emphasize how important these are if you struggle with low calcium levels. If I could, I'd order them in pallets.

I’m a senior ladies and have Osteoporosis, and have been taking Jarrow Bone-up for a few years.I would NOT take the Meds a couple of Drs. asked me to take, and that was 10 yrs ago. Btw they warned me, I wouldsbreak a bone with in two years if I did not take Boniva or a Reclast infusion!! (Know Two persons who died of Reclast)I had a serious accident in Hawaii 3 1/2 yrs ago, and I did not break anything, which the Drs. there where startled about!3 weeks ago, another accident, was carried to the hospital by ambulance, following X-rays, did not break anything..Thank goodness.Although Drs. told me I would be on crutches for two weeks! No, only for 3 days.. Although my leg was still swollen. From my investigating, I believe the best Calcium to consume is Hydroxyapatite, which is in this Jarrow..It advises to take 6 aday, I maybe take 3 aday, and not everyday. I’m tiny, with small bones, and for me 6 is too much.I feel one of the reasons I have Not shattered any bones is due of Jarrow..I do take additional supplements , and make sure I take 5000 mg of D3 a day and I usually eat organic, No smoking, try to keep away from sugar,

I've always taken extra calcium supplements along with my meals. It was either calcium carbonate, calcium citrate, or both at the time. I nearly wrecked my right side when I fell off a ladder when I was 65 years old, and I have since undergone 5 surgeries. After the fall, a few years later, I received an osteoporosis diagnosis. I started learning a lot about calcium, and one thing I learned was that it's not only about calcium—vitamins D3, K1, K2, magnesium, and other nutrients are also important. As I continued to research the different forms of calcium that were on the market, I was surprised to find New Chapter Bone Strength because it had everything I needed in one pill, which was a blessing because I don't like taking pills in the first place because I have to remember to take them in a specific order. I particularly enjoy that red algae, rather than limestone, is used as the source material. So, New Chapter and I embarked on a mission together, and I'm happy to say that after just two years on this program, my osteoporosis is GONE. It isn't over as New Chapter Bone Strength calcium and I have created a permanent friendship as this 70-year old continues on with the certainty that I will never have to take fosamax and never did even though doctors were throwing the stuff at me. Thank you, New Chapter, for coming to my rescue at a rather desperate time after my fall. Now my wife and oldest daughter are taking it as well.

The best nutrient balance for a stronger and healthier you is now advocated in a new nutrition book titled It's Not the Cans.ADVANCE -Your arteries won't become hardened by calcium if you take vitamin K2 in the form of MK7. Additionally, it aids in binding calcium to your skeletal tissue (bones). Here are a few suggestions:100 Mcg, 50 Count Solgar Natural Vitamin K2 (MK-7) Vegetable CapsulesVitamin K-2 (MK7) Veg Capsules, 100 mcg, 60 Count by Now FoodsPlease try to disregard individuals who advocate mega-dosing on vitamin K2 (or any other nutrient), as these are the same people who advocated calcium and vitamin D mega-dosing, which contributed to a sharp rise in cardiovascular disease rates, particularly in women. The same folks are now advocating massive K2 dosages in an effort to rectify the harm that their earlier "advice" has inflicted. You will benefit more from consistency and balance than from overfeeding your body with nutrients. Do not let the bloggers' claims and the isolated study intimidate you or a loved one into taking excessive vitamin or mineral dosages.UPDATE END -This is a top-notch item! It is calcium citrate in this product. Here is what I currently know.Calcium carbonate must be taken with food because it needs stomach acid to be absorbed. Citracal can be taken with or without food because it includes Calcium Citrate, which is more easily absorbed (very convenient)Comparatively, calcium citrate contains about 20% and calcium carbonate about 40% of the elemental calcium. Therefore, when the product simply lists the "total" mg amount, you are actually only getting 40% (for carbonate) or 20% (for citrate) of the real calcium you need each dose. Citrical shows the "elemental" (real) calcium dosage so you can see how much calcium you are actually getting per dose rather than having to do the calculations (very convenient).Citrus contains vitamin D3 (most recommended form of D is D3). Your cells need vitamin D as a way to absorb calcium (very beneficial). These are square tablets that are somewhat small and have rounded corners (very convenient).NOTICE: You DO NOT need to take four each day! Each of us is different, and we each have different needs. A concentrated dose of four pills per day, or 80% of the RDA for calcium, is provided. Even that is a rather vague assertion.Important: Research indicates that prolonged exposure to high calcium levels hardens the arteries. They believe it is because some of the excess is absorbed into the common plaque that all of us have in our arteries, which causes it to become stiff over time (calcification). As a result, the artery walls become less elastic and narrower, which may lead to a blockage that would not have occurred except for the internal plaque that has hardened. Therefore, try to keep the number of calcium supplements you take each day to no more than two, spaced several hours apart (half daily dosage). then look for additional calcium through other channels, like milk, brocolli, or whatever. Try to take them one at a time during the day if you take four of these per day (full dose) to avoid producing as much "extra" in your bloodstream each time. I'm aware that this might be a lot to remember. However, this might mitigate the problem with the hardening artery plaque (not certain).GOOD NEWS: Elevated magnesium levels boost calcium absorption. Because magnesium oxide does not absorb well, think about taking 200 to 400 mg of magnesium per day. Additionally, think about taking 1000 iu more of vitamin D3. In essence, you need to take less the more you actually absorb. Is that clear? Since vitamin D is "fat soluble," it can be stored in our liver for a few days. Your liver will release its reserves if you skip a few days, covering you like a camel's hump in the desert. A megadose of any "fat soluble" vitamin is not necessary. This might get toxic. I try to keep my daily intake under 3000iu and would not go beyond a total of 4000iu per day. Please be aware that Citracal contains some D. Simply sum up all of your sources of D3, then add more D3 to reach a total of about 2000 iu, which is higher than the RDA but significantly below than the top toxic limit. According to studies, 10,000iu of D taken everyday for three months can be harmful for some people. Please keep the following in mind:Your particular body may need MORE than the RDA.2) Your particular body might need LESS than the RDA.3) You get SOME calcium from the ordinary things you eat (or ALL the calcium you need)4) Excessive concentrated calcium can cause various issues (quote from Dr. Ox Calcium Fact Sheet)"According to a recently released study, your heart may suffer if you consume too much calcium. In one extensive study, scientists tracked a group of over 60,000 women for almost two decades. They discovered that those who consumed a lot of calcium through their food and/or supplements had a higher risk of heart disease or cardiovascular disease. In individuals who consumed too much calcium or took a supplement, the risk was more obvious."5) Always spread out your supplements throughout the day (if taking 3 total, try to take them several hours apart). There is no need to take four of these pills per day (80% RDA) if you currently consume a diet high in calcium. You might just want to take 1 or 2 (20% or 40% RDA) each day. Your particular body may need less calcium if you are tiny than someone twice your size. You may only require 2 pills per day (40%) if you engage in vigorous activity four days per week and maintain a moderately healthy diet. I've increased my daily intake of Horizon Organic 1% milk. Excellent flavor. Each glass not only contains calcium but also 400 mg of potassium, 15% protein, and many other minerals. I was able to reduce my Citrical dosage as a result. I'm not advising you to consume the milk I enjoy. I'm only using the decision I made as an example.CONCLUSION - For the price, this is a great product! There are very few higher end goods, but they are more for those with serious, medical calcium issues than typical people and cost twice as much.To find how much calcium is too much, GOOGLE "too much calcium" or "calcium side effects."Never take the medication at the manufacturer's suggested daily dosage (not that you would). Consider other factors when establishing the ideal daily dosage for you, including your individual size, exercise level, food, and medical history.REMEMBER to ALWAYS consider this and all other supplements to be just that—supplements. This means that you should avoid obtaining all of your daily needs from medications.

These pills, in my opinion, are the greatest. The calcium pills have always been too huge and difficult for me to swallow. They were all horse medications, so they would all get stuck in my throat. I tried the chewable calcium pills with caramel flavor, but they made my teeth hurt. I thought they were so much simpler to take when I first discovered this medication in my local pharmacy. I didn't have any difficulty swallowing this enormous tablet because they had a lovely fruity flavor and were chewable. The chewable versions of the product weren't available in the stores when I went back to purchase it a second time. I then looked on Amazon at that time. I naturally located it. It cost less and included free shipping in a bottle that was twice as big. I was impressed by how beautifully it was packaged and how promptly it arrived after placing my order. I have no issues about the product; it's excellent. I've encouraged several of my friends to take my calcium supplements, and many of them have started taking them for the same reasons I do. They also enjoy ordering them from Amazon.
It's generally safe to take calcium supplements daily, but be sure to check with your doctor first. Taking too much calcium can cause kidney stones and other health problems.
There is no definitive answer to this question as everyone is different. However, calcium absorption generally starts to decline after the age of 30. This is due to a number of factors, including a decrease in stomach acid, a decrease in vitamin D levels, and a decrease in physical activity.
The most common symptom of calcium deficiency is weak bones, which can lead to osteoporosis. Other symptoms include muscle cramps, tooth decay, and irregular heartbeat.
If you consume too much calcium, you may experience constipation, gas, and bloating. You may also have kidney stones or calcium deposits in your soft tissue. These symptoms are usually the result of consuming more than 2,000 mg of calcium per day. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should speak with your doctor.
There are many potential causes of low calcium levels in the body. Some common causes include: -A diet lacking in calcium-rich foods -Certain medical conditions that interfere with calcium absorption -Certain medications that can promote calcium loss -A sedentary lifestyle -Poor gut health -Excessive alcohol intake -Chronic stress If you suspect you may be lacking in calcium, it's important to speak to your doctor to rule out any underlying medical causes. They may also be able to recommend dietary and lifestyle changes to help
There are a few different diseases that can cause low calcium levels. One is called hypoparathyroidism, which is when the parathyroid gland doesn't produce enough of the hormone that helps regulate calcium in the body. This can be caused by damage to the gland from surgery or other conditions. Another disease that can cause low calcium is called renal failure, which is when the kidneys are not able to remove enough calcium from the blood. This can be caused by a variety of things, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and certain medications.
