Arteza Detail Paint Brush - Hand Made - Taklon Hair (Set of 15) Review:

I recently utilized these on a pet portrait commission for a woman at the humane society, which featured six foster dogs. In oils, it was a delight to work with them. Smooth and "goop-free" paint loading and absorption onto the brush. The spot and liner came in very handy for giving the fur and eyes more definition. Although I'm not sponsored by Arteza, I've generally been loyal to the company and pleased with their offerings. They manufacture high-quality products. The brushes required little to no paint residue and were easily cleaned. Compared to some of the other detail brushes I've purchased from Amazon, I'm quite impressed with these brushes.

Paint Brushes Set for Acrylic Oil Watercolor, Artist Face and Body Professional Painting Kits with Synthetic Nylon Tips 10 Pack (White) Review:

I've been creating paintings for around 8 or 9 years. I work mostly with oils, but on occasion, acrylic is used for particular tasks. I was startled to discover that each brush was cellophane-wrapped upon opening the box and that the smaller brushes had tubes covering the tips to preserve the shape. A card with a one-year guarantee that was included in the packing also very pleasantly surprised me (and a teeny bit nervous... Because I was expecting a bit of rubbish). I washed the brushes after opening them as instructed to remove all of the glue. It was simple, and I was pleasantly pleased by how soft the bristles of my brushes felt when they had dried! I made the decision to sit down with my oil paints the following evening and continue working on something I was producing for a buddy. Because of hair patterns and other factors, portraying wildlife can occasionally be more difficult, but I was quite satisfied with these brushes! They undoubtedly rival some of my more costly brushes! The handle is a fair length, sleek, and comfy. The bristles are incredibly plush and silky, making them ideal for body and face painters. I also didn't have any loose or crazy hairs, which I really HATE! The bristles are very smooth and springy and retained their shape. They hold the proper amount of paint (I detest hairs in paintings or stray hairs that paint erratically; my older, less expensive brushes do this and it drives me crazy). My husband asked me to custom paint his welding helmet later in the week. I would, of course, since... Who would want to refuse their spouse something so cool? The same type of outcome was achieved even on an acrylic-buffed and primed helmet. Beautiful brushwork; no stray or loose hairs. It has been simple for me to clean up these brushes each time. They spring SO beautifully, keep their shape, and clean up nicely! I'm quite happy with this set of brushes, as you can see. I even threw most of my used, inexpensive brushes away and just kept one or two for my children to use. I'll return to get another set, possibly even two for the price. I am VERY delighted with these and I received ten for less than the price of one extremely expensive brand's brush or less than the cost of a pack of three detail brushes from a craft store.

Speedball Art Products, 1542-8, Escoda Versatil Series Artist Watercolor and Acrylic Paint Brush, Short Handle, Bright, Size 8 Review:

I've now used the Versatil brushes in sizes 6 and 8. They effectively perform the majority of the well-known traits of synthetic brushes, in my opinion. I wasn't particularly impressed, nor do they feel noticeably "better" (as in being more similar to a natural hair brush) than comparable synthetic brushes (holds a decent fine point, has a good amount of spring, loses water fairly rapidly). As always, the only drawback of synthetic brushes is how quickly they consume water; after just one or two strokes, the brush is almost certainly streaking. When using these brushes, I would typically deliberately add a lot of water to the brush (and refrain from taking some water off the tip which I do habitually). Then, I'll be able to start several larger washes at once. It's quite simple to manage and obtain finer details because of the fine point and quantity of spring. No pun meant, but #8 seems to be more adaptable than #6. I believe that #8 can do everything that a #6 can do, and since they lose water so quickly anyhow, it also means that it will be able to carry a little bit more water for wider regions if necessary. For both 6 and 8, the barrels are the same size.A rather strange, almost disgusting scent emanates from the wooden portion surrounding the grip. The only way I can describe it is that it smells like an old, rotting bone (I bought the two versatils from different sellers, and they both have the scent).I could only smell it since it was so near to my nose, but it wasn't very nice. I'm hoping that after a few months, it will go. I find it difficult to envision the smell ever leaving because it seems to be almost permanently etched into it.The cap fastens firmly (at least for now, it is quite new). It does seem as though it will become looser with continued use.The brush is compatible with the standard 12-pan metal travel palettes (photo)if it had only been marketed as a portable synthetic brush, it would have received five stars.I'm not sure if the "synthetic Kolinsky" makes a difference.update (about one-half month) - The good news is that the distinctive fragrance of the grip region has greatly diminished after I left them uncapped for the past month or so.5/3/19 update The brush is still mine, and I occasionally use it. I believe that its overall weight distribution and my own preferences prevent me from using it as frequently as my other brushes. When posting from usage, the barrel and cap have started to become a little bit looser. I have a feeling I'll need to tape it up soon because the cap won't come off by itself when being held upside down.

da Vinci Watercolor Series 418 Petit Gris Pur Paint Brush, Wash/Mop Pure Russian Blue Squirrel, Size 2 (418-02) Review:

Painting with this brush is enjoyable! The brush is small, which helps it maintain its shape more than I'd anticipate from a squirrel brush. It feels wonderful in the hand. Has a good point, a full belly, and holds water nicely. For the price, this brush is fantastic! Grab it now while the price is this low. It's really worth the effort!I have a tiny travel squirrel brush by Isabey. I believed that because the brush was so little, quality had to somehow be lost. Not so! This brush is expertly constructed. Although it's not a portable brush, I now always use it when working on smaller works.I've added two pictures. One when it is naturally dried, and one when it is wet. These are three that I own. I received one of the brushes that was broken. It seemed unlikely to me that a paintbrush, especially one with sensitive hair, would be shipped unprotected. The hair on the brush had a L shape to it since it was forced up against the box.I believed it was destroyed, but fortunately I was able to fix it so that it once again functioned well for me.One benefit this brush has over other squirrel hair brushes I own is the perfectly aligned hairs with a round belly and a pointy tip.The brush maintains its shape better than my longer squirrel hair brushes because it is shorter in length. It works well and even better than I had anticipated. It seems to keep its shape halfway between the way a sable brush and a typical squirrel hair brush would.Never before has one worked this well for me as this one does. You won't be let down, in my opinion.

Princeton Artist Brush, Syn Bristle 6250Dg Dagger Striper, Grey, talla 4 Review:

I also bought a sable brush in addition to this synthetic one. I must admit that I now enjoy "dagger." Depending on the size, they work well for fine details, thin strokes, and even light blending. Because it's a little stiffer than the sable, I almost like the synthetic one. Although I'm going to get a set of bristle daggers, I'll use this one first. Excellent brush, reasonable price, and Princeton is usually an excellent item.
