The Verbatim DataLifePlus DVDs are, in my opinion, among the greatest DVDs now on the market. Even though I sometimes see what appears to be a small nick or defect in the media (which I have discovered to be prevalent among all brands for DVDs and CDs near the top or bottom of the stack), I still hardly ever experience a defective burn, and I verify every disc that I burn. These DVDs are not the cheapest ones you can buy, but they are still worthwhile. The fact that this media is produced in Taiwan rather than China is one factor contributing to its higher-than-average quality. I myself steer clear of Chinese-made goods whenever I can, and I'll keep doing so until they figure out how to put quality control first.I tried using cheaper media, such as RiDATA, but I frequently experienced poor burns (more than 20% of the time), even when I burned at the maximum rate recommended by the media maker. Who still uses DVDs? Who? Old men attempting to remove content from their vintage MiniDV cameras. For the multi-step transfer to our NASes, we require discs. First, a disc can be burned using an equally dated machine and a MiniDV camera connected through IEEE1394-Firewire-iLink cables. Then, using an external USB DVD drive, transfer the burned DVD to a NUC. The QNap server is then reached from the NUC. Wow. plenty of labor.I was able to find these writable DVDs for the lowest price. They performed flawlessly.

These serve as a backup for my video library. I've consumed about half of the pack and have no issues with the caliber or transfer rate. So far, every disc has been excellent. With Sony products, I've always had success, and this one is no different. In order to record for my personal library, I recently bought a second spindle. I have only encountered one problematic disc so far. The replay allows me to watch on my own devices and is acceptable—though obviously not the best. I'm not sure what the critics were anticipating, but as a veteran radio technician, I have to acknowledge that technology has advanced significantly in quality.

I don't like Dual-Layer DVDs. Although having more capacity is wonderful, finding trustworthy ones is difficult. You pay at least twice as much for a product that performs subparly compared to the standard offering.However, there are good reasons to use them.These look fine.There isn't a manufacturer indicated when I look at the disc information in Nero Disc Speed v12.5.How well do they function?My main concern is dependability. I created 16 burnt discs for this review. Nero Disc Speed then performed a Disc Quality check on each one. The Quality scores are as follows. 70, 77, 38, 84, 64, 64, 70, 57, 57, 50, 40, 70, 28, 84, 84, 84. Additionally, there were two unsuccessful burning. The first occurred during validation, and the second occurred just before the layer changeover.At the beginning of the burn, I occasionally saw a delay. Occasionally, it would require 4 minutes to complete the "writing leadin phase." Still, those discs burned well. That might be because I'm using an external USB DVD burner.Dual layer discs just perform worse than single layer, despite the fact that this may not sound good. In comparison to the Kodak discs I tried a few years back, its performance is far superior. About 30 to 50 percent of those failed.Worth a shot. Use multiple layer CDs sparingly if your data is crucial! Or at least try vintage M-Discs.
