Are bed wedges good for you?

A bed wedge is an angled piece of foam that you place under your sheets at the head of your bed. The idea is that the wedge keeps you elevated so you can sleep better. Some people find that bed wedges help them breathe more easily and reduce snoring. Others find that the wedge helps relieve GERD symptoms by keeping their head and shoulders elevated. And some people use a bed wedge to prop up their legs and reduce swelling. If you’re considering a bed wedge, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor first.

Can a wedge pillow cause back pain?

If you experience back pain when using a wedge pillow, it is probably due to the way you are sleeping on the pillow. The best way to use a wedge pillow is to sleep on your back with the pillow under your knees. This will take the pressure off your lower back. If you sleep on your side, the pillow can put pressure on your shoulders and cause pain.

Can Side sleepers use a wedge pillow?

Yes, side sleepers can use a wedge pillow. Wedge pillows can help side sleepers by providing support for the head, neck, and shoulders. This can help to reduce pain and prevent stiffness. Additionally, wedge pillows can help to keep the spine in alignment, which can also reduce pain.

Can you sleep on your side with a bed wedge?

If you're struggling to get a good night's sleep, you may be wondering if a bed wedge is right for you. A bed wedge is a type of pillow that can be used to elevate your head or legs while you sleep. This can help to relieve pain and improve your sleep quality. While you can sleep on your side with a bed wedge, it's important to choose the right size and type of pillow to ensure your comfort.

hiccapop Pregnancy Pillow Wedge for Maternity | Memory Foam Pillows Support Body, Belly, Back, Knees (Black) Review:

Exactly what I needed has come along. I didn't want to shell out more than $100 for a sizable full body cushion. My head is really content with the nice pillows I have! I merely required assistance for my 5-month-old twin pregnancy. I adore that it includes memory foam on both the softer and firmer sides. The softer side is ideal right now, but as I gain weight, I'll probably require the more substantial side. The fact that I can simply move the pillow about the house for further support and that the supporting information sheet suggests alternative applications for it (such as between your knees) are both appealing. I've even tucked it behind my back in my home office chair. It had so many uses for such a low price. I'm glad I gave it a try before making the commitment to a large body pillow, and I anticipate using it frequently in a variety of ways over the next three months.Last but not least, and this is not something I usually mention, but I appreciated the company's follow-up emails and additional correspondence. Although I don't always review or ignore these, the company's excellent product and message convinced me to do so. One very happy customer here!

Memory Foam Bed Wedge Pillow - 9&12 Inch Adjustable Sleeping Pillow With Removable Cover - Folding Breathable Incline Cushion for Anti Snoring, Heartburn, Reading, Lower and Upper Back Pain - Washable Review:

Despite the fact that I adore everything about this 5-in-1 wedge, the recipient wasn't the ideal fit. Even with accurate leg measurements, wedges can be difficult to use and may not be comfortable. I discovered that this firm really does believe in 100% satisfaction guaranteed and that they extended customer service and assistance beyond my wildest hopes just as I was starting to feel down about my unsatisfactory purchase. Even if this wedge wasn't correct, I'll make sure to always check with this company before making an online purchase. They provide outstanding customer service that goes above and above! Sincere gratitude.

Bed Wedge, FitPlus Premium Wedge Pillow 2 Inches Memory Foam 2 Year Warranty, Acid Reflux Pillow with Removable Cover Dr Recommended for Snoring and Gerds Review:

I've literally saved hundreds of dollars because to this product. My husband might have informed them that I have sleep apnea and will "need" a CPAP machine after I recently underwent a sleep testing at a nearby clinic. I scheduled a meeting with the suggested DME provider after which I looked at all of their 1-star ratings on sites like Yelp, YP, ConsumerAffairs, etc. Nobody has any favorable things to say about them. I phoned back right away, canceled my appointment, read reviews for other DME suppliers in my region, and found that while they were better, they were still not excellent, so I started looking into my own options for treating sleep apnea. Lose weight, use a prescription nasal spray (like Flonase) every night directly before sleeping instead of "as-needed," and use a wedge pillow were the three tactics that constantly surfaced from the numerous reliable websites I looked at. Although losing weight requires patience, I immediately transferred my Flonase from my office to my bedside table and bought this wedge-shaped cushion. It came on Sunday. When I laid it on the bed and tried it out, I was a little unhappy that it wasn't "taller" on the thicker edge. I placed my two regular pillows on top, read a few chapters of my book, took one out, and then fell asleep. I have found that sleeping on my back and both sides is equally comfortable. I definitely felt more energized on Monday because I accomplished a lot and crossed many items off my to-do list. Repeat on Monday night: two pillows for reading, one pillow for sleeping. Tuesday saw an uptick in energy. similar on Tuesday night. The same applies to Wednesday morning. However, I had a doctor's appointment today to talk about getting a CPAP.Did I mention that I wear a Jawbone Up24 tracker, which tracks both steps and sleep? (No, I didn't mention it.) I checked the app on my phone, and it amply demonstrated what I had been feeling: better sleep. My sleep is much better now. There is hardly any orange (wakeful moments) on the graph, shorter light blue (restless sleep), and a rise in the length and regularity of dark blue (deep sleep).I described what I had done and how I felt to the doctor. She informed me that my sleep study had shown I require CPAP. I pulled out my phone and told her that my own independent, ad hoc research had revealed that I did not. Oh my goodness, she was taken aback. astonished and ecstatic! Which experiment is more successful? Three nights in my own bed as opposed to one in a strange and uncomfortable place. To the CPAP, no.I do, therefore, adore this pillow.

Xtra-Comfort Bed Wedge Pillow - Folding Memory Foam Incline Cushion System for Back and Legs - Triangle Shaped for Reading, Support - Washable Review:

Okay, I'll just say that this pillow is a complete blessing. I've always slept on my back or stomach and am currently seven months pregnant. It goes without saying that you cannot sleep while pregnant on your stomach because a pineapple-sized, cute little parasite (who I love! But still! Stealing all my nutrients and making me exhausted? Let's call a spade a spade here) occupies that space, and you also cannot sleep on your back because the pressure from the baby's belly can seriously disrupt your sleep. Thus, you are essentially forced to accept that you must sleep on your side, particularly your left side because it is better for circulation.I already have a preschooler and a snoring hubby, so sleep was pretty much nonexistent for Mama. Additionally, I've had pretty bad SPD/PGP during this pregnancy, a pregnancy "quirk" in which your pelvis separates a little bit more than usual and causes everything to be shaky. It like having a lead pipe inserted into your pelvic bone. There is too much physical contact without any sexual payoff.Anyway. Review.Since acquiring this pillow, I've been able to sleep on my back without worrying about putting pressure on my nerves because it tilts me up just enough. I can also lay on my stomach since the memory foam sags and creates a cozy niche for my growing tummy while remaining firm enough for the rest of me to stand on. I've been sleeping a ton, and I feel great. In addition, practically all of my PGP data has disappeared. I'm not sure what's straightened out after laying on it, but the ache is completely gone. I'm actually back to normal. My own particular fairy godmother is this cushion.

Memory Foam Knee Pillow – Leg Pillow Wedge for Side Sleepers, Pregnancy, Spine Alignment - Hip, Back, Leg, Knee Pain Relief – Breathable, Hypoallergenic and Comfortable – Washable Cover - with Bag Review:

I'd had awful lower back tightness and discomfort for 20 years. Orthopedists had determined that my issue stemmed from the way my hips were positioned—butt sticking out, back arched, glutes not engaged to naturally tuck pelvis under.I've performed numerous of the exercises they recommended for me to "strengthen my core," stretch my tight hip and glute muscles, and practice myofascial release each morning (e.g. foam roller). These initially feel fantastic, but I would get so tight during the day and into the night that I would have to regularly stretch, perform hip circles, or do something else to loosen out.Even though I had been using a conventional pillow between my knees while I slept, I went out and purchased a tempur-pedic mattress, pillow, and office chair. But I would still feel sluggish when I woke up.Then I finally understood that no amount of stretches or exercises would ever be able to help me since every time I sat or dozed off (2/3 of my life!) I was progressively making my hip issues worse by settling into my default posture. My hips had to be realigned while I sat and dozed if I wanted to get rid of my back issues. Therefore, after extensive study and a lot of trial and error, I discovered FOUR items that have totally changed my life.TWO KEY BED PRODUCTSThis product came first. Since it's so easy to KEEP the pillow between your knees during the entire night with this shape and material, you actually *wake* up with it in that position. Up until that point, I had never spent a night with my hips and back completely relaxed. On my first morning, I got up without even grunting! After just ONE night, my back was in like new condition. The Restorology Elevating Memory Foam Leg Rest Pillow was the second item. With the aid of this leg wedge, you can quite comfortably elevate your legs while on your back and unwind for an hour or two before bed (reading, watching tv, etc). The real kicker is that, with my legs elevated, I place THIS KNEE PILLOW *under* my upper hips and lower back, and the slight hip realignment fully expands my core. Nothing in my life has ever felt so reviving. I've even spent the entire night sleeping in that position and awoke feeling even BETTER than when I lay on my side with just the knee pillow.TWO ITEMS FOR THE OFFICE PRESIDENTNo matter how carefully I focused on my posture and adjusted the height of my desk and chair at work, I would still feel stiff after 30 minutes (getting worse throughout the day). My hips were naturally slightly cocked back, and trying to sit up straight required too much effort on the part of my unbalanced muscles (and tight ass), which made my back TIRED.Then I acquired these two additional items, which significantly altered my life:The Wedge – Effective Posture Correction Cushion for Office Chair was the first. You may tuck it directly under your lower back and upper hip when sitting; it resembles a hard, malleable beanbag pillow. It was like achieving Nirvana once I worked out how to position it optimally for my unique hip realignment needs. However, I still lacked one essential component: a good office footrest. (I paid $15 for the AmazonBasics Foot Rest.) I was able to get The Wedge to truly press my hips in the exact direction they needed to be softly pushed for realignment with the proper foot placement and slight leg elevation. In my body, it felt as though a funnel of energy opened up the instant I found the ideal position. I was ecstatically overtaken by it, seeing stars, and it literally rushed up from my hips through my spine to my head. I sobbed like a baby. A mature man sobbing after realizing that day was the beginning of the rest of my life and the moment when my back pain started to change into core strength. My impairment would change into the kind of "competitive advantage" that people with sturdy backs always seemed to have. We frequently overlook how important good posture is and how much it affects every area of our life. All those other exercises, stretches, and foam roller sessions will actually start producing real recovery progress if you can make your time sitting and sleeping a time when you are working to *positively realign* your hips (and not just "limit damage"), at which point you will become the master of your core energy.

Xtreme Comforts 7" Memory Foam Bed Wedge Pillow, Hypoallergenic Breathable, Washable Bamboo Cover, Elevated Support Cushion, Acid Reflux, Lower Back Pain, Heartburn, Snoring, Allergies Review:

Given that I have never used a single snoring treatment that actually worked, I was highly suspicious about this product. Along with incredibly awful allergies, I also have a really bad snoring problem and a small acid reflux problem. I want those who might be dubious to hear how well this pillow works.I'm a large guy myself, therefore throughout the past few months of nightly use, this pillow has held my upper body weight admirably. I no longer get any acid reflux, and I sleep much better at night. It was awkward at first, but I really enjoy the inclination; it's quite calming. Because I frequently sleep on my side, stomach, and arms, I haven't used them as pillows more frequently. I still have a propensity to slide my arm under the wedge, but that's okay because my hands are no longer sleepy when I wake up.My wife wakes me up once or twice a week to tell me to stop snoring because she claims I'm snoring much less. I occasionally slide down the cushion and don't keep raised, which is the main source of this. Consequently, it significantly reduces my snoring even though it doesn't fully stop it. I was being awakened by my snoring at least two to three times a night, and I felt exhausted the next day even though I had slept for eight hours. Not only did this substance benefit me medically, but it also benefited me mentally. To me, it's a significant deal to be able to get 7 or 8 hours of restful sleep. You'll understand what I mean if you've ever had your snoring disturbed and experienced how exhausted you feel the following day. Overall, this is a terrific product that does exactly what it claims to do, is very hypoallergenic, stops snoring, and is quite helpful for reflux. I adore it and now find it impossible to sleep without it. I heartily endorse this pillow!

DMI Ortho Bed Wedge Elevated Leg Pillow, Supportive Foam Wedge Pillow for Elevating Legs, Improved Circulation, Reducing Back Pain and More, Blue Review:

PERFECT! Just everything I needed and wanted, PLUS A BONUS! Arrived Early!Did you know that using a bed wedge while you sleep might help reduce the symptoms of some ailments, such varicose veins and heartburn, as well as avoid pressure ulcers? Bed wedges add an added layer of comfort, enabling people who experience pain or other symptoms to sleep soundly so that their bodies may heal. The symptoms you want to cure will dictate the size and shape of your bed wedge. I utilize mine for a variety of purposes. similar to reading in bed Take the pillows off the head of your bed and replace them with the bed wedge. I position the bed wedge so that the narrowest section is at the top, the flat side is against the headboard, and I sit as upright as I can. It is so much more comfy to lean on than a pile of pillows! In order to reduce lower back pain, I also place the bed wedge beneath my knees. For people with varicose veins, swelling feet, or achy legs, this position is also beneficial. A blanket may cause the bed wedge to slide during the night, so be sure it is sitting on the bottom sheet.Take note of how it resembles the position of the raised feet. (Not to mention the back pillow with an angle so you may sleep in your bed rather than on the floor!)Additional Advantages of Wedge PillowsSome people utilize these elevating techniques to treat their varicose veins, stop acid reflux, and treat snoring issues. More often than you might imagine, a wedge pillow can be really useful.Additionally, they offer excellent support during those "sexy" moments when a cushion could slide around.

Brentwood Therapeutic Foam Bed Wedge Sleep Pillow - 100% Made in USA - CertiPUR-US - Washable Natural Bamboo Cover, 7" x 24" x 24" Review:

First of all, I want to state that the person who wrote the negative comment about the wedge not inflating must be a rival who is spewing c-r-a-p. My package immediately inflated as I opened it. Not even a second, I mean. An exterior wrap and an interior wrap are present. It is virtually entirely developed after it is exposed to air. As with all foam products, it takes some time for it to "completely" harden to the desired stiffness. This is my second Brentwood product, hence. Due to lumbar problems, I sleep on a brentwood foam mattress. A few years ago, I herniated two discs, which made it impossible for me to sleep on my back. My back ache eventually spread to my hips as a result of only being able to sleep on my sides. My hip pain was so severe that it was difficult for me to walk, stand, or even merely to breathe. Note: Although my 13-inch Brentwood foam mattress, which was a terrific investment and helped lessen hip pain than a standard mattress did, I still needed something additional.Due to two ruptured discs in my L-spine, I've had trouble sleeping for the past three years without experiencing sciatica and quite significant discomfort. Because of how highly ranked they are on Amazon, I previously purchased the intevision wedges, but they were either too soft for me or too high for what I needed. I would sink it so far that it would pain my upper back. Believe me when I say that the brentwood wedges are 10 times better in quality than the intevision ones. There is NO odor, the foam is really hard and dense, and the quality is clearly higher. I'm astonished that this foam is less expensive than the subpar intevision equivalent!Even though this wedge is rather firm, I would still classify it as medium- to medium-firm. I actually wish it was more firm because I sink in quite a bit. I've only had it for two days, so it might take some time for it to totally harden. I did get somewhat sucked into it, and it does pain my upper back, but I weigh 190 pounds, so it might not be an issue for lighter people. (Dear God, I have to trim down...)I find the wedge just a tiny bit too high for lumbar pain. The item should be the same length but less steep, please (lower height.) Since I don't suffer from acid reflux, I'll probably eventually work up the courage to personally reduce the height to make it less steep. I believe that by doing this, my upper back will be in a better position. In the mornings, I do notice that my neck is a little sore. My neck isn't used to supporting me at that angle, therefore the muscles in my neck need some time to get used to it, according to me, rather than any pain in my spine. I'm not very good at cutting foam, so if Brentwood has one that's like 4-5in instead of 7in, please let me know. Results? Yes! For the first time in three years, I didn't have lumbar pain when I got up this morning. That is incredible. Can you picture living in constant misery and believing that it will never end? That's who I am. Hope is in this wedge. I can sleep on my back, the discomfort is reduced enough that I feel like I can function normally, and it really spurs me on to keep up with physical therapy and exercise so that I can lose weight. These were challenges for me in the past because it hurt no matter what I did. (When everything hurts, stretching and exercising are really challenging.)If anything changes, I'll keep updating this. The short story is that this cushion revolutionized my life and that I no longer significantly get L-spine pain.I appreciate you reading and I hope this was helpful. If it did, kindly mark it as "useful" so that those searching for information about sciatica and back pain may find it.

InteVision Foam Bed Wedge Pillow (25" x 24" x 12") & Headrest Pillow in ONE Package - 2" Memory Foam Top - Helps Relief for Acid Reflux, Post Surgery, Snoring, and Back Pain Review:

Because I knew I wouldn't be able to lay down for a while—ESPECIALLY with the expander in... OUCH!—I bought this as my mastectomy date drew near. I had to be at an angle because those darn things ached. A wedge pillow is incredibly helpful, so I started looking around after reading about it.With its memory foam top and extra-cushiony feel, this one fit the description I was looking for, and the reviews seemed to back up the seller's claims. For me, it has actually worked great! It was quite comfy when I used it downstairs on the chaise lounge portion of our sectional couch (I removed the sofa's own back cushion and pressed my wedge pillow right up against the back of the couch and sat down immediately). I was able to watch TV as I rested and recovered. My spouse would also take it upstairs for me every night, and when it was time for bed, I would place it against the headboard of our bed.In my weakened state, it has made sitting down and standing up SO much simpler. And I can vouch for the pillow's excellent comfort. It's incredibly cushiony and soft, so I don't feel like I'm sleeping on a hard surface, but it's just firm enough to support you when you lay back (so your back isn't sinking into it and giving you back discomfort).I don't sleep on my back, therefore this setup has only one drawback for me: I wake up in the middle of the night in such agonizing discomfort that insomnia has become a severe problem. However, that isn't at all the pillow's fault; rather, it is the fault of the awful predicament I find myself in, which has compelled me to sleep in a position that is not healthy for me. Even though I detest lying on my back and in an upright position all night, the pillow itself has saved my life, which is why I even bothered to add that portion. Since I must currently sleep in that posture whether I like it or not, at least I have a nice comfortable pillow to utilize. One more thing to mention: I noticed that numerous people commented that you don't quite stay all the way up on the pillow through the night when I was reading reviews for this product. And I'll add to what others have said: Sliding through the night is a challenging, irritating situation. I had to move around and push myself up *multiple* times throughout the night. BUT... Do I believe the cushion is to blame for that? No. That seems like a rather sensible gravity problem. In physics. *shrug*Overall, I found this pillow to be really useful. If you need or want to lie more uprightly for any reason, I advise doing so.

Drive Medical Folding Bed Wedge, 12" Review:

Because of my back issues and frequent use of a recliner at home, motel beds that require me to sleep flat are ineffective for me. The collapsible wedge sitting atop the hotel bed is really effective. Although it is extremely firm—some people have complained that it is too firm—my back prefers it that way. Simply place a hotel blanket, a few of the huge bath towels from the hotel, or, for the maximum softness, a few of the pillows from the hotel on top of it if you want a softer surface. I particularly appreciate how it folds up and fits into the travel bag with a handle. There is no getting around the fact that it is very huge and, unless you check it as luggage, is too big to go by flight. I'm not aware of a method around that because it wouldn't offer very good support if it could fold up and inflate. So, perfect for home use. Excellent for automobile travel. Not at all for plane travel.
