Yes, you can put a portable basketball goal in the ground. There are a few things you need to consider before doing so, however. First, make sure the ground is level and firm. If it's not level, the goal will be unstable and could tip over. Second, make sure the ground is clear of any debris or rocks that could damage the goal. Finally, make sure you have the proper anchoring system to keep the goal in place.
Assuming you have a portable basketball hoop that can be taken apart: 1. Start by taking the hoop down and removing the net. 2. Wash the pole and backboard with soap and water to remove any dirt or grime. 3. Apply a layer of rust-resistant paint or primer to the hoop if necessary. 4. Wrap the pole in a layer of insulation such as bubble wrap or foam. 5. Reassemble the hoop and store it in a dry, sheltered area until spring.
Basketball hoops should be placed at least 10 feet away from the driveway. This will ensure that players have enough space to dribble and shoot without worrying about hitting the driveway.

Someone at Ikea had to write the instructions. Remember that practically every common size wrench needed for assembly requires TWO of them. Also required are two adults (and beer). The fact that the finished product is a really solid hoops that keeps my son outside and the adjustable height will be a pleasant feature as he grows is why I gave this product four stars.

For a few weeks now, I've had this basketball hoop put up in the backyard of my home. It took roughly 30 minutes to construct a box. After perusing a few hoops in the BX and Walmart, I made the decision to check out Amazon and discovered this one (I recommend a second person solely for when it's time to put the backboard/rim together and mounted onto the pole.) It's held up well for me and my five boys ever since it was erected (although I did pick up the bag of base gel from the BX — it's a must-buy for these sort of hoops as it lasts just about a month before more is needed in the base).I finally get to the "for the most part" in my review's headline at this point. The hoop collapsed during the weekend as a result of the base's gradual loss of gel from evaporation. When it was put back upright, I noticed the tilt in the backboard when I got home from work, which most likely resulted from the base tipping over due to a lack of gel. Despite how tiny the "tilt" is, it is still apparent. It advances somewhat from close to where the backboard's rim is up to the top of the backboard. Since the backboard is balanced by two wing bars that run from close to the rim on the back of the backboard up and outward towards the top corners, there is really no way to adjust the backboard to make it (and keep it) straight. Therefore, any attempts to reset those wing bars would simply further compromise their integrity and increase the likelihood of further harm. Conclusion: A decent basketball hoop, but be careful to regularly check the base gel (or water... or if you get sand obviously evaporation wouldn't be an issue... your option though). After being deployed to Iraq for a year, I found that I simply couldn't handle the mess of more sand on a daily basis.

I or I are overjoyed with this purchase! My almost 3-year-old grandson needed it because he was too large for his toddler hoop, so I bought one for him. It's been with us for a few months now, naturally outside, and it's in excellent shape. Net remains excellent. My grandson like it a lot! He is having the time of his life and can now actually "shot the ball."It was put together by my son-in-law, so I can't comment on that, but it went up without a hitch. It is NOT intended for dunking, as I had to remind my 10-year-old grandson after he did ;-) Instead, it is designed to teach young children the game.I heartily endorse it!

The simple directions made it easy to put the basketball hoop together, and it only took me about 30 minutes. The basketball hoop was strong, gorgeous, and adjustable so that it could be made smaller for younger children or larger for larger children. The cost was really reasonable, and Amazon had the best deal. If you are unable to put it together yourself, Amazon will even send someone out to do it for a fee. This service is not provided. My preferred online retailer is Amazon; get your hoop there right now.

This evaluation will be divided into three sections: ordering and delivery, creation of the "Beast," and performance of the "Beast."Ordering: On Prime Day, I ordered the Beast. For $799, which was a great deal for this system, Amazon was offering a lightning sale. Nevertheless, I was cursed with the "failure to add to basket" issue that many customers encountered on Prime Day, so despite my best efforts, I was unable to add it to my cart. When the promotion ran out, I chose to order a "like new" model from Amazon Warehouse Deals for $989. Prime members also received 20% off Warehouse deals, making the cost significantly cheaper than the new model's $799 price. When examining Warehouse discounts, it appeared that the majority just had minor packaging flaws and were otherwise brand new.I should have known there would be issues when I received a UPS tracking number because this hoop weighs more than 300 pounds when delivered properly. Only one box was given to me when they arrived. On a pallet, all three are expected to be delivered together. I simply received the plastic base of the box. Naturally, I called Amazon, and they told me I could return it and get a refund. Wow! Excellent! Although they would give me $100 off, all they could say when I tried to explain how I acquired it on sale was to advise me to reorder it new and pay full price.About two days of back and forth with them later, I finally sent an email to jeff@amazon.com to ask for assistance from an executive account person. I was pleased when they promised to send me a new one as a result of the error. But on the day it was meant to arrive, this new one was marked as "damaged" and dispatched via USPS (again incorrectly). Great.Amazon promised to send another. Even though I repeatedly tried to convey that this needed to be transported with a freight business, it was nonetheless sent by USPS. The third was despatched once more with USPS numbers (wrong again). Two of the three shipments mysteriously arrived by UPS. Weird. However, I still lacked the third box of steel poles and bolts, so I lacked a hoop. I had to call Amazon once again. After speaking with both Amazon and Spalding, the third shipment containing the poles eventually showed up approximately a week later and over a month after I initially placed my order. Spalding provided excellent customer service and was very helpful (more on this later). The word "scheduled delivery" has been added to Amazon's listing for this product, which is accurate. When ordering the Beast, be extremely cautious if you receive any USPS or UPS tracking numbers because you DO NOT want to experience what I experienced. I really appreciate Amazon and the executive account representative for finally making things right. In this aspect, I truly valued their client service. Despite the challenging delivery, I will continue to be a devoted Amazon client because they were so helpful.Installation: After reading that putting the poles together was terrible, I was quite concerned. Without a doubt, you'll need two powerful individuals. I've tried it once on my own, and all I have to show for it is a bruise on my leg. I nearly broke a patio table. I did file down the inside of the larger, top pole before assembling the poles. There was some welding "residue" in the corners, and I wanted to remove anything that would be problematic. As numerous others had mentioned, I also used WD40.My neighbor and I had to drop the pole into place about five times before it was exactly four and a half inches apart, which was ideal. The pre-fabricated metal base where the pole was mounted had an extra nut added to it. I put the pole on without noticing this and only later realized it wasn't straight. In order for the pole to fit properly, I ultimately had to pull it off and then remove the nut. Spalding has a problem with quality control there.I had no trouble attaching the lower bracing to the pole. No significant issues getting them lined up.The backboard was a major problem, but mainly because I believe my elevator arms were damaged. There are 22 inches on the backboard between the two places where the elevator arms are located. I only found that the elevator arms were between 19 and 21 inches wide. That was illogical. Even after I bent them out to fit properly, it was still extremely tight. Spalding promised to send new elevator arms when I called them after it was finished (it was built over the weekend, so I had to wait until Monday to call).I made an effort to add as much sand as I could after the backboard was installed. Sand can be added so much more easily when it is DRY. Find a way to dry it somehow. When put in the bags, the moisture congeals because they hold too much of it. When you have enough sand, it is rather simple to push the entire system back to its upright position. I wish the sand could be introduced into the system in a more efficient manner. The backboard was about half an inch off level when it was finished. To address this problem, Spalding is delivering a bracket. They indicated they would send new elevator arms if that didn't work. This is most likely brought on by the problem I mentioned previously.I might go try to replace the rim nuts with ones from a hardware shop because they do tend to loosen up quite a bit.One thing to remember after speaking with Spalding: the handbook advises against tightening the nuts on the elevator arm bolts any farther than flush, but the man indicated you can if it doesn't make raising and lowering the arms more challenging. The backboard began to tremble more as they drew flush. Further tightening seemed to increase stability.Installation was by no means "simple," but now that I know what to expect, I could complete it much more quickly in the future.Overall, I'm satisfied with the performance. My neighbor uses an in-ground Silverback system with a four-inch pole. After normal shot contact, I mentally kept track of how long the backboard and rim shook and found that it took between 10 and 14 seconds. I normally counted 3-5 seconds for the beast. Therefore, the system is unquestionably superior to the four-inch pole. A buddy of mine uses a goalrilla in-ground system, and that one seldom shakes at all. The Beast isn't perfect in this regard, but for the price I paid, I'm still satisfied. If I can post a video, I'll try to put it in this review. It looks fantastic and far superior to any other portable hoop I've ever seen in terms of appearance.I received new elevator arms from Spalding, and they fit as they should. Spalding will take care of the issue if your elevator arms aren't wide enough for some reason.

Within a few days of placing the order, the item showed up, and the packaging was in flawless shape. I spent effort making the target go faster, and it took me a total of 1 hour to put it together. Likewise, I completed the installation without the aid of additional individuals. The directions are clear, but you must carefully read them to ensure that you are following them. Everything is in fantastic working order and every part is in the box. Within a few days, the structure had been constructed in the garage and relocated to the driveway. After reviewing the target, I'll try to update the post; there is still time to play. I am now content with the purchase. (Note that even though the base has two wheels, it needs to be filled with water. Moving is highly practical)

This was purchased as a birthday present for our 10-year-old, who is possibly 55" tall (we are unsure). He's always expanding). He adores it. I don't believe I have it set to the highest level. At his request, I raised it to the second setting. It was not possible for me to raise it any higher by myself because I am quite weak and rather short. Having saying that, I did put the majority of it together on my own. You will unquestionably need two persons to install the background and fill it with sand (unless you have 3 arms, then it would be ok :p). So when it came to those, I enlisted my spouse. Since the Northeast can experience some harsh winters, we decided to use sand instead of water since I didn't want the water to freeze and expand, possibly harming the plastic. Water also simply smells bad. We used two (2) 60lb bags of all-purpose sand from a home improvement store because I went bonkers trying to figure out HOW MUCH SAND we utilized. Play sand would have flowed more easily in hindsight. Although we did lose some of the sand, you can always know when enough is enough. Therefore, ASSUME 120lbs of sand! It was said here. Additionally, I believe the instructions mention it somewhere, but I was unable to locate it. Due to my lack of trust for the neighbors, we play it on the grass in our backyard (sad I know). So it's wonderful for what we need it for. The following level can be desired by someone who is rougher, larger, etc. Even if the basket is oddly short, it doesn't affect the ball, and we do have a regular ball. If I didn't cover everything in my review, please feel free to post a comment. Additionally, there is a YouTube video of a man assembling it that was useful.

This basketball hoop was mine. It was because my 7-year-old kid, who enjoys playing basketball, should be outside getting some exercise. In light of this, I conduct extensive comparative research before selecting this basketball hook. This fall, hopefully, he will spend a bit more time outside. and away from video games and the iPad. This hoops is extremely great. I put this together by myself with no problems because the instructions are simple to understand. And the completion time was about 35 minutes. I put water in it instead of sand. It is sturdy and steady. It is a lot of fun for my son, who uses it frequently throughout the day. The height of this hoops may be changed from 5.5 feet to 7 feet. He can practice shooting on the simplest setting. It also includes two wheels on one end of the base, which makes it easier for me to move it from the backyard to the garage. Without a doubt, I'd suggest this item.

purchased as a present for my hubby. He adores it. Compared to the tiny 7' plastic backboard he had been using, this is a huge improvement. It is a legitimate 10' tall when measured from the rim at its full height. Don't intend to move it about other than to position it where it will be and leave it there because it looks extremely great and REALLY heavy when it is fully constructed and filled with water. The height is simply adjustable. Everything we needed, excluding the tools, was included, and nothing arrived broken. You should probably be at home to receive it because our delivery man needs assistance unloading the vehicle. It was transported via UPS Ground on a regular basis. As long as we read the instructions and tackled each task one at a time, building it together really wasn't that difficult. Unless you want to make it difficult for yourself, this job requires at least two people. Although the labeling of the bolts could have been improved, you can figure it out with a little trial-and-error and counting. The instruction book is not quite as awful as it could be. To put it together, you'll need a few tools. We ultimately needed pliers, a ratchet, a wrench, and a phillips head. You don't necessary need a "sawhorse," but once the pole is joined to the base, you'll need something to hold up the middle to serve as a fulcrum and keep the backboard off the floor so you can install it and the rim. This something may be an unfortunate third party or an inanimate object. Up until the moment comes to attach the rim and the pole arms, you can get away with resting the backboard flat on the ground. We took our time during the build, which took us around 4 hours in total. We don't have any issues about this system overall; it's great!
A portable basketball hoop can last anywhere from a few years to 10 years or more. It all depends on how often it is used and how well it is taken care of. If you live in an area with harsh winters, you'll need to take extra care of your hoop to prevent rust and other damage.
You will need to purchase approximately 1 bag of sand per month to keep your portable basketball hoop in optimal playing condition.
How much should I spend on a basketball hoop? This is a difficult question to answer because it depends on a number of factors. If you are just looking for a hoop to practice shooting in your driveway, then you can probably find a cheaper option. However, if you are looking for a hoop to play competitively with friends or family, then you might want to consider spending a bit more money. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide how much you are willing to spend on a basketball hoop.
There are a few things to consider when choosing between an acrylic and polycarbonate basketball hoop. Acrylic is a clear plastic that is shatter-resistant, making it a good choice for safety. Polycarbonate is a durable plastic that is heat-resistant, making it a good choice for outdoor use. Both materials are lightweight and easy to clean.
Base gel is a type of artificial turf that is infilled with a gel material instead of sand. This makes it more comfortable and safer to play on, and also helps to reduce the amount of maintenance required.
It really depends on your needs and preferences. If you plan on playing basketball often, then an in-ground hoop would be the best option. It is sturdier and will give you a better playing experience. However, if you don't plan on playing often or you have limited space, then a portable hoop would be a better choice.
