Since I don't own the competing brand, I can't compare, but these scissors work well, so I can't see why you'd spend more for them.It's simple to handle (if you have huge hands, that can be a problem), and the rounded sides make it simple to move. It effectively trims her nails without displacing her in the slightest. In addition to being silent, you hardly even notice it—I tested it on myself first. The only negative is that it can be a bit challenging to file down the outer corners of her nails, but it is doable with perseverance, and it really helps to be able to reverse the direction the file rotates. The light is helpful as well, although because of its slightly off angle, it works better for a preliminary examination of the nail than for giving light when filing. We tried the clippers, but I wish someone had told us about this device first. It will undoubtedly be the first gift we get for any future baby showers our friends throw!

These nail files are the best and are a need for children! My incredibly active child's finger and toe nails are all done at once for the first time in almost 13 months. She sleeps so light, trying to do them in her sleep is a joke. I've tried other files, clippers, and scissors. I've attempted to pull them off. It reached to the point where I was simply letting them break off because I couldn't complete them since nothing was working. These are essential! One drawback is that they are quite fragile and I accidentally dropped the first one I took out of the package, breaking it.
