Aluminum fuel tanks are often thought to be superior to steel fuel tanks for a number of reasons. One reason is that aluminum is not as susceptible to corrosion as steel. Additionally, aluminum is much lighter than steel, so an aluminum fuel tank can save weight and improve fuel economy.
Plastic fuel tanks are safe, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First, make sure the tank is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which is a durable material that can withstand high temperatures and is resistant to most chemicals. Second, avoid using plastic tanks that have been damaged or are cracked, as they could leak. Finally, always double-check that the tank is properly sealed before filling it with fuel.
Stainless steel is an excellent material for fuel tanks. It is strong and durable, and it won't rust or corrode like other materials can. Plus, it's easy to clean and looks great.
No, you cannot put gasoline in an aluminum tank. Gasoline is a corrosive substance and will eat away at the aluminum, causing holes and leaks. Additionally, the fumes from gasoline are highly combustible and could cause an explosion if they came into contact with an ignition source.

I was hesitant to purchase my Bachtold mower in 1990 because of the plastic gasoline tank. The shut-off valve's spigot shattered after 27 years, creating leakage that did not appear to be fixable ( as I do use the shut off valve after every mowing). When I realised there was a perfect replacement, I was overjoyed. Hopefully, I can use this tank for another 27 years. (If I'm still cutting grass at 94!)

In terms of value, this equipment is unbeatable. I took out one point because I had to splice the wiring pigtail because it did not match the OEM for my 1995 Ford F-150. The pre-stripped new pigtail was comparatively simple to install, and the splice instructions (included) were 75% accurate, so I'd give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. It is fantastic to get a kit that includes a new sender, pump, lock ring, and gasket, and the new tank straps were a welcome extra. In conclusion, this kit is a smart investment for our vintage Fords. I spent the extra $100 to get a new tank as well after the fuel pump in the tank failed, and I'm glad I did. Don't play around; if you've ever gone to the trouble of hauling this tank out, you know that you don't want to see it again for at least another 20 years. The cherry on top was prime shipping. Highly suggested.

Good gas tank, however the idiot EPA cap doesn't vent. When in run mode, the top button only let air in, not out. Due to these two serious problems: 1) It inflate like a balloon, and if you don't manually vent it, I can see how it would easily burst at the seams, as others have described in their comments. 2) It fills the carburetors on my outboard and increases pressure in the fuel lines. I was shocked to see gas leaking from my motor on the first hot day. The moment I pressed the button to manually vent it, the gas leak from the carburetors ceased. Given that the new caps are worse for the environment than the previous generation of self-venting tanks, I'm not sure what the EPA was thinking. I tried to remedy the problem by removing the rubber O-ring under the cap as suggested in one comment, but it was unsuccessful. Then, after removing the cap, I drilled a little hole (about 1/16") between the lowest thread, high enough to prevent rainwater from entering but low enough to allow the cap to actually vent even when it is completely tight and making clicking noises. Given that this product required re-engineering to function properly, I'm giving it 4 stars.

Short bed, 4 door, 2WD, 2003 Dodge Ram, 26 gallon fuel tankEasy to install and a perfect fit. Looks to be a good product. You'll need a 15mm socket that is EXTRA deep. The stud was still protruding from the square drive end after I tried a conventional 15mm deep hole. Thank goodness I could find one at my local auto parts store. You won't need to stop working and dash to the store, as I did, if you purchase one in advance.

The original had a rubber coating to guard against the plastic tank, so I applied many coatings of rubberized spray before installing, and everything was good.

On my 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 4X4, I used these. They are an exact fit in terms of size and shape. They do not have the stock ones' plastic coating. Otherwise, they appear sturdy and well-made.I finished the task in under one hour. Setting up for the job and cleaning up afterwards were included.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you get the "Dorman 55157 HELP! Fuel Tank Strap Hardware," which is also available on Amazon.Since the bolt in this kit is significantly longer, attaching and tightening the tank strap will be lot simpler. Who would use the outdated, rusted stock bolt and nut, anyway? Instead of being a tremendous hassle, trying to get the old bolt to start in the threads, the longer bolt makes the job much easier. If a bolt needs to be broken free due to rust, use PB Blaster or another similar substance.Prepare a breaker bar and a 15mm socket for the tank strap bolts.Additionally, a floor or bottle jack is required to lift the tank into position; otherwise, it will appear that the straps are too short ( they are exact same size as stock ones if you compare them to each other). To prevent the plastic tank from warping and perhaps shattering, place a board below it before jacking it up.Additionally, I advise anti-seizing new bolts so you can remove them with ease if you ever need to remove the tank in the future to install a new fuel pump, sensor, or other component. This task is made significantly simpler by using the right tools and common sense.

Exceptionally fantastic thing. I must admit that this material sets up really quickly. Make sure you are prepared to do the patch in LESS THAN 5 minutes. When I attempted to apply the top coat over the fibreglass patch after laying down the epoxy, the package had hardened into the shape of a brick. That happened about 4-5 minutes after the package was opened and the mix was added. To complete the task, a second kit was required. I used it to patch a 3–4 mm hole in a steel tank, and it has held up well for a few months. Paint covered it up nicely as well. Also take note that after mixing, it gets quite warm.
If you have a hole in your fuel tank, you will need to replace the tank. You cannot repair a hole in a fuel tank.
If you have a rusted fuel tank, you may be able to repair it yourself. First, clean the tank with a wire brush and soapy water. Next, apply a rust converter to the tank. Finally, paint the tank with a rust-resistant paint.
You can replace a fuel tank yourself with a few simple tools. First, you'll need to disconnect the old fuel tank and remove it from the vehicle. Next, you'll need to install the new fuel tank in the vehicle and connect the fuel lines. Finally, you'll need to fill the new fuel tank with gasoline.
If your gas tank is already rusting, you'll need to remove the rust before it spreads. You can do this by sanding it down with fine-grit sandpaper until the rust is gone. If the rust is extensive, you may need to use a chemical rust remover. Once the rust is gone, you'll need to protect the tank from future rusting. The best way to do this is to coat it with a rust-resistant paint or sealant.
If your gas tank has sludge in it, the best way to clean it out is to remove the tank and take it to a professional. They will have the proper equipment to clean the tank and get rid of the sludge.
When a fuel tank gets damaged, it can cause a lot of problems. The fuel can leak out and catch fire, or the tank could explode. This can happen if the tank is hit by a bullet, or if it's hit by a piece of shrapnel. Sometimes, the tank can be damaged by corrosion.
