The answer is no, all exhaust flange bolts are not the same. There are many different types of exhaust flange bolts available on the market, each designed for a specific application. When selecting the correct bolt for your application, it is important to consider the material, thread pitch, and length of the bolt.
Foil tape is not typically used on exhaust systems because it is not heat resistant. However, there are special foil tapes that are made for high temperature applications. If you need to use foil tape on an exhaust system, make sure to get the right type of tape.
If you're talking about an exhaust manifold gasket, then you'll want to put some sealant on the bolts to make sure it holds. Other than that, there's not really anything that you need to put on the exhaust manifold bolts.
Blue Loctite is a product that is used to secure bolts in place. It is a permanent adhesive that works by creating a strong bond between the bolt and the surface it is applied to. This bond is designed to withstand high temperatures and vibrations, making it ideal for use on exhaust manifold bolts. While Blue Loctite will work to keep the bolts in place, it is important to note that it is not designed to seal the joint between the bolt and the surface. This means that it is possible for exhaust gases to leak past the bolts if they are not properly tightened.

The exhaust pipe was fixed using two flanges that had a doughnut in the middle and clamped together. The flanges were almost completely stripped of rust. A 2 inch pipe was on one side, and a 2 1/4 inch pipe was on the other. The enlarged bolt hole is useful in this situation. I purchased a bolt spring kit and coupled the springs with some longer bolts. To retain the springs and nuts in their proper positions, I also used four strong duty washers.

This v band was a purchase I made for header collectors. For the price, this clamp is quite well crafted. Strong and robust flanges with precisely machined male and female connections are used. The sliding over pipe end is excellent for positioning the clamp correctly and securing it with welding. The band is really solid and seems to be a little thicker than other brands I've previously purchased. I've purchased a number of different v-band clamps from Amazon, and some of the less expensive models usually don't have the machined lips or are made of simply bad steel. These may cost a little more than others, but the quality is excellent. Absolutely will purchase again for upcoming exhaust builds.

EASY ON, EASY OFF - A V-band kit allows you to connect or disconnect sections of your exhaust by removing a single nut. Conventionally exhaust flanges involve multiple bolts, washers, nuts, and gaskets. Save time and have piece of mind that your exhaust sections will stay sealed and secured with a 3" V-band kit.
PERFECT FOR TURBO AND HIGH HORSEPOWER VEHICLES - If you're making a downpipe, catback exhaust, turbo back exhaust, mid pipe, or up pipe for your car, truck, or other vehicle this V-band kit is ideal for connecting different pipe sections. Conventional exhaust flanges multiple nuts, bolts, washers and a gasket. A V-band kit eliminates all of these and allows for a connection with a single nut.
COMPLETE 3 PIECE KIT - This complete 3inch Vband kit includes 1x 3" V-Band clamp (3.25" outer diameter) which is designed to accommodate the 2x stainless steel 3" Vband flanges; 1 male flange and 1 female flange. This allows for the flanges to properly align during installation to insure a leak free seal.
DESIGNED FOR 3" EXHAUST PIPES - This kit is specifically designed for 3" exhaust pipes. The flanges feature a recessed opening which allows for a 3" exhaust to easily slip inside the flange, providing a perfect overlap seam for welding. Once the flanges are welded in place the included V-band clamp slips over the connections and secures the flanges together, providing a leak-free seal.
3 INCH STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST CLAMP KIT - Complete V-band kit is ideal for performance exhaust systems, downpipes, catback exhausts, turbo back exhausts and more. High quality CNC stainless steel flanges provide a leak free exhaust seal with no gasket required. The V-band clamp allows you to quickly connect and disconnect exhaust pipes without having to fumble with nuts or bolts.

Great quality, easily butted or slid over my 3" exhaust, and thick enough to weld properly. I purchased six of these to complete both my "normal" and "smog time" exhaust setups. Even after being inserted with an impact, none of the hardware stripped. Although flanges tighten up nicely, warping should be avoided. I welded them, and to prevent the welded one from warping, I bolted the complementary flange onto them right away. I only had trouble fitting one of them after welding, but else they seemed to work properly.far superior to my $17 walker band clamps.

I'm not sure what some people are referring to, but Walker 31884 is a product I've used before; it comes complete with flange bolts and nuts, and the flange opens to hinged halves. However, the lack of instructions may be confusing to a first-time user because pulling open a flange by hand can be difficult. Look at the seller if you didn't get the flange, bolts, and nuts; the product number is for ALL the pieces.

These were purchased to swap out a few exhaust flange studs on my 2003 Thunderbird. A previous mechanic installed two improper studs (and bent them to obtain a "almost" fit) that led to exhaust leaks that triggered the DTC code indicating a malfunctioning catalytic converter. Gross! However, when you search for these studs, they do not come up as a replacement component for the Thunderbird, despite the fact that they are a standard replacement part for exhaust maintenance and are perfectly functional. Before installing these, I advise you to tap the holes with a chaser. Because removing the old studs can be difficult, I also applied some anti-seize compound to the threads in case I ever needed to replace them again. It's a stud, that's all I have to say. Too bad the mechanic lacked common sense.
JB Weld is a two-part epoxy that can be used to repair a variety of materials, including metal, plastic, and glass. It can be used to repair cracks, holes, and leaks in exhaust systems. While it is not a permanent fix, it can temporarily seal a leak and prevent further damage.
If your bolts are stuck and won't come loose no matter how much elbow grease you use, WD-40 may be the answer. The lubricating properties of WD-40 can loosen the grip of a stuck bolt. Just spray it on, wait a few minutes, and then try again.
If your car's exhaust has a hole in it, you can often fix it without welding. First, try using a sealant. If that doesn't work, you can use a patch. First, clean the area around the hole. Then, apply the patch and secure it with clamps.
If you have a leak in your exhaust flange, you will likely hear a loud exhaust leak when the engine is running. You may also see soot or smoke coming from the area where the leak is located. If you suspect that your exhaust flange is leaking, have it inspected by a qualified mechanic.
To measure the exhaust flange bolt pattern, you will need to use a tape measure. Place the end of the tape measure at the center of one of the bolt holes. Measure to the center of the bolt hole that is directly across from the first bolt hole. This will give you the diameter of the bolt pattern.
Exhaust flanges come in a variety of thicknesses, but most are between 1/8" and 1/4". The thickness of the flange will depend on the application. If you are welding the flange to thin wall tubing, you will want to use a thicker flange to avoid burning through the tubing. If you are welding the flange to thick wall tubing, you will want to use a thinner flange to avoid adding unnecessary weight.
