IThe radiator removal and replacement process took a total of roughly 6 hours.You must: to perform this jobIt's not difficult at all to remove the front bumper. Includes 8 push-type nylon retainers and 4 screws.Take the battery out. The coolant recovery bottle and hose clamps can now be removed with less difficulty.Swing the top of the condenser forward after removing the A/C condenser brackets. Right in front of the radiator and having a similar appearance to the radiator is the A/C condenser.Take away both fans. Two bolts hold in each fan. Towards the engine, the passenger-side fan is removed. The driver's side fan presents certain challenges. Swing the radiator's top forward, then slide the fan out in front of the radiator frame's upper crossmember to remove it.To remove the radiator, it is also slid up and swung forward at the top.The electrical plugs for the fans can be quite difficult to disconnect since they tend to fuse together with time. You must pull while wriggling the plug side to side while squeezing the release mechanism on the plug. Try not to pull on the wires since they can come out of the plug when you pull on the plug.

How did this "adventure" begin, then? Well, the owner's manual for my truck specifically states "Do not use extended life orange coolant." In addition to this error, I believe I may have once blended coolants. In other words, my radiator/coolant system was completely clogged, and I was driving to work at four in the morning while FRIZZING TO DEATH. Because the entire system was so nasty, I first reverse flushed my heater core, which only provided me with VERY little relief.Well, the heat is back and I'm glad now that the system has been thoroughly cleaned and the radiator has been completely replaced.For a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 4x4 with a "D" code, I purchased this. 1997-2009 Transmission 5R55E D 4.0L Rangers (4.0L Explorers from 1997 to 2001) 5-Speed 2.47 / 1.87 / 1.47 / 1.00 / 0.75Similar to the OEM radiator, this radiator was very tightly seated. Everything was in order. The radiator had good threads. However, one of the little plastic thread guards was missing. came in good packaging. The box had damage.There was a small twist in the radiator. You might see this by facing the front of the radiator toward your legs and peering down it. I was also inspecting my OEM radiator, which I already had out (Too late to panic). Had the same very little twist, so I suppose it was just manufactured or made in this way to fit? It functions perfectly well.Upon installation, there were no issues at all.However, if you plan to install this radiator, you should probably prepare to remove some parts of your previous radiator. like the wind dampener made of plastic that your coolant overflow pipe runs neatly under. Since you're already on Amazon, you might as well get some lengthy zip ties or little plastic plugs.I tried to be careful when removing the "plastic wind dampener" from my old radiator, but the little plastic plugs were just past their prime and snapped on me. This radiator has my complete satisfaction. I bought this to replace the old, leaking one in my Gen 1 Toyota Matrix with a manual transmission. I'm pleased to report that every bolt hole and radiator hose port lined up just as they did on the factory model. Although the build quality is acceptable overall, there is something crucial to note. I've included a picture of the lower radiator transmission oil cooler tube from the original radiator that came from the factory. The tube's end features a chamfer that is smooth and rounded. As shown in the product photo above, the comparable tube on the CU1193 is square cut and deburred only. If left in place, there is a significant risk that when the oil cooler line is attempted to be reinstalled, the internal o-rings—there are two of them, separated by a plastic ring—of the bell-shaped fitting will be pushed out of place or harmed. Of course, there are no replacements for those little but essential components, so you will have to replace the complete oil cooler line (ask how I know). Fortunately, a flare fitting that can be easily disassembled holds the tube on the CU1193 to the radiator (before you install the radiator). This is a step above from the factory radiator tube, which cannot be removed. Create a rounded chamfer using sandpaper or a file on the new tube, clean it, and then reattach it to the new radiator. Before attempting to rejoin the oil cooler line, grease the tube. Straighten out before entering and spin a little if necessary; do not wiggle back and forth. Find a suitable size open end wrench or adjustable wrench, and use it to loosely hold the narrow section of the bell fitting and rest it on the shoulder of the wider bell if it is very obstinate. To move the bell in the direction of the tube, tap the wrench with a mallet. Don't go overboard here because the tube is screwed into a plastic tank. The 4 prongs of the spring retainer will ride over the rib on the tube and snap into place when the tube is properly placed in the bell fitting, letting you know. If it takes many tries to get the bell to slide off the tube, check the bell's interior with a flashlight to make sure the o-rings are still in place (from innermost to outermost - o-ring, plastic ring, o-ring, plastic bushing sleeve, spring retainer) before inserting it again. Things would be much simpler if the lower oil cooler connection had the same kind as the higher.
