Factory brake pads are designed specifically for the make and model of your vehicle. Aftermarket brake pads may not fit as well and could cause problems. Factory brake pads are also tested to make sure they work well with the rest of the braking system.
The rotors on your car should be replaced when they reach the end of their lifespan. This is typically when they have been used for too long and have become warped or damaged. You can usually tell when your rotors need to be replaced because your car will make a squealing noise when you brake. If you hear this noise, take your car to a mechanic to have the rotors checked.
You can bring your own brakes to Pepboys, but they may not be able to install them for you. It depends on the make and model of your car.
It's possible to replace brake pads yourself, but it's not recommended unless you have experience with car maintenance. The process is fairly straightforward - you'll need to remove the old pads and install the new ones in their place. However, if you're not confident in your abilities, it's best to leave this job to a professional.

For my 2016 Ram 1500 (drilled and slotted) and 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee (normal solid rotors in the pictures), I got rotors and pads, and I'm extremely delighted with both so far. Update if there are any problems. The 4 rotors and 8 pads I installed on the jeep are silent and smooth. I was able to call Ram because the front pads were missing from the Ram order (be sure to check for the number because I couldn't find it on Amazon straight). They discovered my Amazon order and swiftly provided the pads. I'm eager to install them because my current brakes, which were brand-new, screech so loudly. I've already changed the back ones, and I can hear no noise from those. Brakes from Callahan look excellent and operate quietly. I'll purchase them once more later

On my 2007 FJ, my GF installed them. My original equipment manufacturer rotors were worn out and useless. At speeds of 55 mph, the rotors were bent, and the vehicle was shaking harder than Hillary at an NRA meeting. I opted to purchase these PowerStop rotors and pads after doing some research and reading reviews, contacting the firm, and being satisfied with their professionalism and product expertise. Thanks to Prime, they were there in two days. I had to take a business flight to Amsterdam the day after they arrived. After I left for two weeks, my girlfriend claimed that she had installed the rotors and pads by herself after watching YouTube videos and reading forums. She claimed that removing and installing the 35" Nitto tires was the most difficult aspect, but she managed it. She said that the installation was fairly simple and that she had no issues with the annoying Toyota calipers, which are prone to locking up on the lower inner piston. In order to correctly seat and bed the pads to the rotors, she even followed the instructions printed on the box. We won't know for sure how long they'll survive, but so far they're holding up well with little brake dust. I have the most amazing girlfriend who can fix anything while still looking good. In appreciation for surprising me and caring for my FJ, I offered her a nice present.

When I opened the box, it appeared to have traveled through a conflict area. simply pulverized with holes all over it. Just a large wad of taped-together cardboard that is not even square. Therefore, I deduct one star for that. Obviously, some items were missing, but there were still enough for me to install these rotors and pads on my truck. White tail deer love to hang out in the road and dart in front of your cars, and there are what seems like a million of them where I live. My standard F150 brakes have 110,000 miles on them, so I decided it was time to replace them. I wanted brakes that were at least as nice as the ones from the factory. Although I dislike rotors with holes, slots, and other gimmicky features (I've seen numerous tests where there is virtually no difference despite all the sales pitching), I purchased these due of the positive ratings and the fact that they are a complete kit (well, provided they ship straight to you and not through the mean streets of Chicago or Baghdad). I took my time installing them, lubricating everything properly, and cleaned the hubs (I've rebuilt a lot of brakes in my time). The components all fit my truck wonderfully. They are precisely made and appear to be balanced because I experience no wobbles or vibrations. Only a few days after putting them on, I've already had to make a few frantic stops to escape deer. They operate just as well as the OEM brakes ever did, and I was able to avoid them. I'm not sure whether they are better because my truck already had the towing package and all of that, and the factory brakes were also decent. When I noticed that they were beginning to fade after a panic attack, I replaced them. Time will tell, but these brakes are currently performing wonderfully.

They'll put a halt to you! The day after I completed the setup, it rained. I have long been a motorcycle rider. I've always had drilled and slotted rotors on all of my rice burners and cruisers, but I never got around to doing it for any of my cars or trucks. Driving in severe rain made a noticeable change, which I immediately observed. They did not age or deteriorate. makes a significant difference, and knowing that this truck will be sophisticated when I want it gives me real peace of mind. The installation went well, and the fit was superb. And to seal them up, I used paint and engine primer. You won't be let down.

WHOEVER BELIEVES IT IS MISSING SPRINGS:It doesn't lack springs. The hold-down springs for the brake shoes consist of one green spring and one yellow spring per side. The "missing" spring you believe you have is the adjustment lever spring, which comes with a different kit. My Silverado 1500 was purchased mostly for towing purposes. I added heavy duty suspension, an edge programmer for the added towing boost, modified the air intake, radiator fans, gearbox cooler, headers, cats, and exhaust (complete engine back exhaust). I therefore believed I was fully prepared to tow slightly more than the towing rating. I frequently transport 10,000–14,000 pounds without noticing any signs of anything overheating, with the exception of one part that many of us overlook: the brakes. I didn't discover that my rotors were deformed from all the towing until I was descending a very steep gradient without a trailer. The pads were a very tight fit to get into the caliper, and when placing over the rotor I had to use a clamp on the calipers due to the tight clearances. However, it wasn't anything that couldn't be easily over came with some perseverance. These were the highest rated towing brakes for the price and they are that way for a reason. followed the instructions, and broke them in. My nephew's smile was worth the small amount of tread I lost, even though I did goose the accelerations following the braking and left some black trails and smoke in the air. Never had a problem with them. It takes some getting used to the stronger braking force compared to stock, and driving in the snow requires a LIGHT foot or the ABS will engage. Overall, the pricing was really worthwhile.

Didn't want to give the vendor a perfect 5, but I also didn't want to give them only a 4 out of 5. Thus, I rate it 4.5. The adage "you get what you pay for" doesn't applicable in this particular instance. I've worn these for a while now. Great stopping power. Similar to installing any other pair of rotors and pads. The drilled and slotted rotors I've owned in the past have always squeaked, and these are no different. Although they don't always squeak, it is bothersome when they do. You only need to turn the radio up a few notches to be ready to go. Will most certainly repurchase when need.

EDIT: The rating was changed to 5. I'm now quite certain that the caliper sliding pins on one of my calipers were to blame for the pulsating issues I encountered earlier with this brake kit. Even though the other side still had a few months of life left, the inner pad on that side began to go metal to metal. The terrible pulsation I had has disappeared once I installed new pads and further lubricated the slide pins on these identical rotors. These brake systems are without a doubt recommended, especially given the cost. These have been on my car for more than two years. I deliver packages in the city while stuck in heavy traffic. I apply the brakes firmly as well. On a 2003 Accord, these brakes replaced previous brakes that were almost metal on metal (new car to me at the time). They were wonderful for the first few months, but at motorway speeds, they started to pulsate. Now that it's gotten so severe, if I have to brake at such speeds, the entire steering wheel rattles. When traveling at city speeds, it also pulses a little. I done a lot of research on this, and it appears that Hondas with rotors of this size frequently experience this issue. The rotor might be too small for the Accord because it is a hefty vehicle. I believe that it also developed this pulse as a result of my driving. I don't make a long, drawn-out stop when I hit the brakes; instead, I do them fairly late, which could cause them to overheat and leave pad material imprints at the stop. I had hoped that the drilling and slots would reduce the overheating caused by this type of driving, but they did not. Even though the brake pads still have a good amount of life left (I'm actually surprised they have survived this long), I now need new brakes. My next move with the brakes on this car is to either upgrade to a bigger rotor and brake size (from a different honda/acura), which may be my best option but will take a lot more time and money, or go with a premium heavier duty rotor (which I worry might still give me pulsing later). I've owned 15 to 20 different makes and types of cars throughout the years, and never before have my brakes pulsed this badly. I'm still giving it four stars, though, as I believe the Accord and possibly my delivery-driver driving habits are more to blame for the problem. For this braking set, this pricing looks reasonable.
No, Walmart does not offer brake jobs. You can take your car to a nearby Walmart Auto Care Center for a tire rotation or oil change, but you will need to go to a specialized mechanic or dealership for brake work.
If you notice your car vibrating when you brake, it could be a sign that your rotors are bad. Other signs include squealing or grinding noises when you brake. If you suspect your rotors are bad, take your car to a mechanic to have them checked.
OEM brake pads typically last around 20,000 miles, but this can vary depending on driving habits and conditions.
How long does a brake job take? The average brake job will take about two hours. This includes the time it takes to remove the old brakes, install the new brakes, and bleed the brakes.
The answer to how long new brakes should last really depends on the make of the vehicle, the driving habits of the driver, and the quality of the brakes. However, on average, most new brakes should last between 25,000 and 50,000 miles.
If you need to replace your brake kit, it will cost anywhere from $100 to $300. The price will depend on the make and model of your car, as well as the type of brake kit you need. You can get a basic brake kit with just new pads and shoes, or you can get a more expensive kit that includes new rotors and calipers. If you have a high-performance car, you may need to spend more on a brake kit to get the best performance.
