I have nothing but praise for the Hawk LTS pads. On Ford Excursion power slot rotors, the first set lasted roughly 70k miles. I drive really aggressively and am very hard on the brakes. Once fully burned in (it's important to follow the directions and do it correctly), they stop amazingly smoothly and get faster and faster on high-speed/rapid stops. There is no fade at all; only progressive biting. Unloaded, which costs roughly $8k, or towed, which costs roughly $16,000. On hard stops, I discover that I need to let up on the pedal pressure as the brakes work to bring the car to a halt.The front rotors are new only because I damaged one of them; otherwise, I would have simply changed the pads and continued driving for another 60–70k miles. I'm on the second set. The rear rotors are the same.You might hear one or two squeaks under certain weather conditions; this is typical. These brake pads are made of a combination of materials that balances the need for strong stopping (for heavy trucks, which can squeal a lot) with the need for lighter vehicles, which utilize compounds to lessen or completely eliminate squeaking. Running anything else is unimaginable to me.

My Ford Excursion had 88k miles on it when I applied the brakes. However, they weren't quite as awful as certain Ford Super Duty vehicles. They were far from ideal. Mine were typical; they would pulse terribly under specific circumstances, fade easily under severe braking, and even under normal circumstances, they would frequently give me a good wobble. However, they functioned for more than 7 years while being driven around town and pulling a 7500-pound boat, sometimes without the trailer brakes engaged.I bit the bullet and took the risk that Hawk Pads would actually be that amazing and worth the money after years of hearing recommendations for them, both with OEM rotors and with after market rotors. Unless you believe in smooth, solid brakes that not only don't fade but actually improve smooth, steady braking in the hard core circumstances where you'd expect fade, they aren't!!!After years of suggestions for heavy duty trucks like mine, which are used for all kinds of conditions from grocer getting to long distance hauling in all kinds of conditions, I changed my brakes with Power Slot rotors (normal, not cyro'd) and Hawk LTS pads.I never anticipated the outcomes. Even while applying significant pressure to the brakes, I frequently find myself easing off the pedal as the brakes increase grip on their own and smoothly as butter. I occasionally hear a small squeak, which is normal and doesn't last, because the pads are designed to strike a balance between smooth and quiet passenger car pads (which aren't great for HD braking) and loud, squeaky commercial pads (which are meant to stop heavy loads frequently without being affected by heat, but are typically very noisy).Because you won't want to be doing it in traffic, I meticulously followed the bedding procedure. As I complete the final "braking" stage, before cooling them down, you will smell the brakes burning, see smoke, and, in my instance, have a car drop way back behind you and stop way short of an intersection. Before I stopped and saw and smelled the huge cloud of brake smoke surround me from the shadows, I had no idea what was happening!The brakes, on the other hand, are wonderful, and I never in a million years thought an 8000 truck would stop so effortlessly, and as smoothly as butter, from any speed and any load, including with a 7500# trailer with the trailer brakes disengaged!I carefully followed the instructions for bedding them because I was dubious (some call braking or burning them in). Every instance of Hawk LTS pad issues I've heard about involved cases where the bedding process was either completely skipped, only partially completed due to trying to do it at a time and on a road where traffic wouldn't permit it, or postponed until after the brakes had been applied (which did, in fact, bed the pads incorrectly)! The procedure is necessary for a reason—the material needs to achieve those high temperatures to condition the pad to function properly as well as to mate to the rotor. To get the maximum performance and life out of them, even conventional passenger car brakes should be beded; it's just an easier procedure.For the purpose for which they are intended, brakes are not something to skimp on, and these are definitely worth the price!

I was really happy with these brake pads, which fit the AP1 Honda S2000 (AP2s will fit! ), as well as some Civic Si years. They don't need to be broken in, but if you don't have new rotors, you should bed them onto your old ones. They have been my everyday drivers, and all I can say is that I adore them.When compared to OEM pads, the StopTech 309 pads have more'and less initial bite, which makes daily driving more pleasant. Contrary to the frightening Brembo "on/off only" brake pads, the StopTech 309's modulation gives you a lot of confidence in hard corners.These StopTech 309 brake pads will be rinsed off at the car wash and have less brake dust than Brembo's semi-metallic brake pads. Additionally, they scarcely create any noise and are generally enjoyable to have.These pads are obviously solely intended for use on public streets; no intelligent guy would use them on a racetrack, an autocross, or a touge. If your car is heavy, has a high horsepower output, has average brake cooling, or the track is particularly hard on brakes, that will be pushing them close to their limit, and may even go beyond it. Never run them at temperatures above 1300°F (700°C).
