Once the polishing process is complete, the magic is clearly visible. I'm pleased because the lenses are quite clear. The final step is to apply the protectant liquid after removing the remaining chemical. This material flows readily and feels like glue on your hands after just a minute, so use caution when handling it. After 15 minutes, the liquid entirely solidifies into a clear coating, allowing you to remove the tape, wash the front of the car, and appreciate your job. Really seems brand-new once more, and I anticipate it will last for approximately a year before needing to be repaired.

Although I picked this up at a local store rather than purchasing it from Amazon, the effects are so incredible that I had to leave a review.A 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee is mine. I hardly wanted to drive at night because I could only see a tiny ball of light ahead of me that was no more than 20 feet away. And that was the only issue, my headlights were terrible. Unlike the 3M headlamp kit, which requires, this kit didn't require a drill, so that's why I liked it. Although I'm sure the 3m will require less work, I chose this one because it came with everything you required. You only needed to provide paper towels and water (for wet sanding) so that you could wipe the lights dry in between sanding.It reads 35 minutes on the box. I don't know who the hell can do this in 35 minutes, but it's definitely not me, maybe 35 minutes per lamp. I spent maybe an hour or an hour and a half on the entire process. It is relatively easy. The instructions are straightforward, and all of the box's contents include the labels "step 1," "step 2," and "step 3."However, the outcomes. They continue to astound me. When I first saw some images of the "results," I assumed they were all bogus. They are not, NO. That good. It doesn't matter to me if this product just lasts a few months because I am really happy with it. I'll repeat it. Purchase this package if you need your headlights cleaned! The 3M Headlight Repair System (PN 39008) and the Meguiar's Perfect Clarity Headlight Restoration Two Step Kit (hereinafter known as Meguiar's) are two different solutions for auto headlight restoration, so I thought I would do a head-to-head comparison.My car's headlights had begun to exhibit the typical opaqueness linked to oxidation and UV damage. I began by using the more complex 3M system. The procedure involves using a series of disks to first sand off the opaque layer, then imperfections in the surface left by the first disk to finer and finer scratches until you get to a frosted appearance, and finally polishing the headlight cover with polishing compound until you get a clear surface. In order to achieve the frosted effect with the Meguiar's product, you first rub with a compound before spraying on a clear protective coating.Effectiveness: Surprisingly, both Meguiar's and 3M products left clear, un-yelled headlight covers after application, making them both, in my opinion, equally good at restoring the headlights.Ease of use / Effort: The 3M product required between 60 and 90 minutes to strip and buff a single headlight; take notice that this was accomplished using a cordless drill (you may need a proper chuck as the kit attachment is smooth and round where my drill required a hex shank). Note that the instructions advise you to mask around the headlights to prevent damage to the paint; I would suggest multiple layers in the places where the paint is most likely to get damaged, depending on the car; I make this suggestion because I cut right through a single layer of tape in one area and scratched the paint.- the Meguiar's product took about 15-20 minutes to apply. This was done by vigorously rubbing the headlight side to side with the applicator pad, adding more buffing compound as the surface dried, and wiping down to check the progress before the final spray on step [note that you still need to mask here, but this time to protect against overspray from the protecting coat; also, be careful in your spray technique as it is possible to end up with drips due to excessive spray application].Overall, as you can see from the before and after pictures attached, both systems performed admirably, with the main difference being the amount of time needed to produce the desired result. Due to the shorter turnaround time, I prefer the Maguiar's goods more generally (though the manual effort was more intense). P-)

On both of my autos, I used this. Since this isn't designed for that, the headlights weren't completely fogged yet. In 30 minutes, both automobiles were finished. Simply moving in a light, circular motion will do; no need to destroy yourself. It's not necessary to use a drill with a buffer wheel, but you can. The outcomes were astonishing. It's so dramatic that my wife believed I put new headlights. Mine is a 2006, hers is a 2007. I sent photos via text to all of my relatives and friends. Naturally, they are also ordering this right now. You will need their other kit for that if your headlights are severely scratched. This only applies to lenses with light fog. They advised me to follow this up with their synthetic wax (Part # 3M 39030). To keep the coating in place, you must reapply that every three months. It doesn't take long to apply the wax to each lens, so you won't be working long hours on this small task. Simply be sure you keep plenty of fresh rags and towels on hand. I also apply the rejuvenation compound to the plastic windshield and headlight of my motorcycle. It also works on your brake lite lenses if they are becoming dull. anything made of plastic. I solely use 3M goods on my automobiles, bikes, boats, and jet skis, and I have never been dissatisfied with them or had anything they made break. I have many different brands of this type of cleaning in my cupboard, but none are as good.

Please be advised that this page includes the ratings for all of the aforementioned products. I used the G2970 two-step product to a Honda Odyssey that was ten years old. The headlight lenses were noticeably foggy and rough.The entire operation required some elbow grease and took perhaps an hour or two. Observe all instructions precisely. Wide refinishing tape is a need. I covered the lenses with tape and applied two layers of the cleaning solution. I applied two coats after preparing them for the coating spray. The coating is a little runny, so I had to use a moist rag to wipe some of it off the paint finish. Work should ideally be done in a garage. The entire curing process takes 24 hours.The finished lenses are astonishingly clear and appear to be almost brand new! Although the product claims to keep clear for a year, I'm not sure how well it will hold up. We'll see. I truly hope I don't have to go through this again in a year. The coating spray in this product, which some other products lack, is why I liked it. Although I hope I won't need to repeat the process anytime soon, I still have around half of the kit's materials left. A noticeable significant improvement at this time.

Using a variable speed drill is essential for success since without one, you won't be able to regulate it and you'll end up sanding your hood. For the first two sanding discs, you must be able to operate at an incredibly low speed. People frequently complain that it gouges or damages their lights, but if done correctly, it actually works quite well. Each side takes roughly 15 minutes to complete. Because these items truly do work, my high school-aged son has launched a headlight restoration business with them. The results are wonderful, but it takes some time and is not always simple. Ensure that you adhere to the instructions. I suggest locating some 1500 grit sandpaper if you intend to restore several headlights because it makes the process a little bit simpler. Going from 800 grit to 3000 grit is a significant increase.This procedure will sand off the oxidation and the scratches and produce lenses that appear 90% new, so long as the headlights are not damaged on the interior of the lens. However, the UV protection is lost during the sanding process. Without this protection, the headlights will fog up once more considerably more quickly. We have found a simple procedure that will prolong the interval before the headlights fog up. Follow these steps once you have completed sanding and cleaning the lenses and they look fantastic.A Blue Shop Towel is folded into a tiny square. Squeeze extra Mineral Spirits from it after dipping it. Apply a thin layer of Mineral Spirits in horizontal strokes to the headlights.Next, mix equal parts of Hellsman Indoor/Outdoor Clear Gloss Spar Urethane and Mineral Spirits in a second blue shop towel. Squeeze excess out. Apply several coatings of sealant in overlapping horizontal strokes on the lens. For 30 minutes, avoid driving. This offers excellent UV defense.Here are all the procedures for recovering headlights that we have successfully used:STEPS FOR RESTORING HEADLIGHTS1. raise the hood2. Put on a mask and safety glasses3. Apply two or three layers of paint tape to the area around the headlights.4. Use Windex to wash the headlights5. Use a drill and 500-grit brown sandpaper to sand headlights. Avoid remaining stationary for too long.6. Eliminate leftovers.7. Verify that the tape is still functional.8. Use a drill and white 800 grit sandpaper to smooth up the headlights.9. Remove leftovers.10. Water the headlights.11. Drill with wet sand and 1500-grit sandpaper (this is the one you need to buy separately because it does not come with the kit)12. Sand drill headlamps with gray 3000 grit sandpaper.13. Eliminate leftovers.14. Apply Meguire's Compound in the size of a dime to the drill's polishing pad. Before starting the drill, smooth the compound around the headlight. Keep the tape in place, but clean the area surrounding the headlights to eliminate any smudges.17. Wear latex gloves.18. Squeeze extra Mineral Spirits off the Blue towel. Wow! Despite reading several favorable reviews about this technique and product, I remained rather dubious. The main drawback is the amount of time needed; the marketing language claims it takes less than 30 minutes, but in my experience, it took roughly 60 minutes each bulb, or two hours overall rather than 30. The restoration process entails a number of steps, so I found myself regularly reading the directions again to be sure I wasn't doing anything incorrectly. The next time will undoubtedly go more quickly, though I hope it won't be necessary for a while!You should begin with the coarser paper in the package and work your way down to the finest paper. The kit comprises various grades of sandpaper. The lens protecting your headlight becomes increasingly scratched throughout that process, eventually looking far worse than it did when it first began. You'll be thinking to yourself along the road "What have I done, oh my God? Perhaps this kit is incompatible with the headlamp I have!" Don't lose up though; when everything comes together in the last phase, your headlights should look "like new." I heartily endorse this item.

I bought this, as many others do, to "restore" my car's headlights.According to the kit, "oxidation, fading, and sun damage" can be prevented.It's not oxidation, fading, or sun damage that's to blame if your headlights are hazy or dim. Keep an eye on your taillights. They don't appear milky or dim, do they? No! They are subjected to the same climate and sunlight as the headlights. Therefore, why are the headlights dim and milky? The reason is because every particle of grit and dust in the air effectively sandblasts your headlights as you drive. Each particle of dirt or dust creates a micro-scratch that is just a thousandth of an inch thick, maybe. Finally, dust penetrates those scratches. Your headlights are hazy and dim because of these scratches and the dirt inside of them, not because of oxidation or UV damage.None of the wipe-on chemicals contain the remedy. No. The remedy is a polishing pad with a 2000-grit surface that is part of this kit, as well as plenty of elbow grease that is NOT part of the kit.With micro-scratches from 12 years and 156,000 kilometers, my headlights were foggy and dim. I was able to remove the scratches and dirt buried in my headlights by polishing off roughly a thousandth of an inch of the surface of each light with around 30 minutes of labor, or 15 minutes per light. As I polished, I could actually feel the surface become smoother. My arms and the polishing pad were exhausted after 30 minutes of polishing, yet my headlights still looked beautiful.Apply the "Miracle" Wipe New remedy as the next step. Here is where the kit as I received it diverges from the illustrations and summary. According to the description, the miraculous Wipe New solution comes on a permeable wipe. Evidently, something has changed. Currently, the solution is contained in a tiny bottle that is just approximately halfway full. The kit comes with a tiny terry cotton towel that can be used to apply the solution. Although it wasn't necessary, I wrapped masking tape around my headlights as a precaution because the instructions warn that the solution might harm automobile paint finishes. The instructions also warn about getting the solution on your skin, so I took a prudent precaution by donning some safety glasses and the provided gloves. I wiped my freshly polished headlights with about a teaspoon of the solution on a cloth. Wow! It gave my headlights the perfect final glitter. (Even if the bottle is only halfway full, there is still enough solution in it to make at least eight or ten pairs of headlights. Additionally, 2000-grit polishing pads are available everywhere auto finishing products are offered, including at the majority of big-box auto parts retailers.)My headlights appear to have been restored by 85 %, I believe. It's remarkable how much better my car appears overall as a result of how wonderful they actually look. The automobile looks fantastic with those gleaming headlights.For the repair of foggy, dim headlights, I suggest this kit. It truly does work. Why then do I not rate five stars? Simply wipe the miraculous solution on, and in a matter of seconds, all but effortlessly, your headlights will glitter like new, as the description suggests. That's not exactly the case, and the folks who produced the advertisement would have known this if they had just read the product's instructions. Although the product produces the desired outcome, the procedure and effort required are grossly overstated in the promotion.As I previously mentioned, I do recommend this kit because it gave me decent results.
