No definitive answer exists as to whether automatic feeders are good for cats. Some people believe that they are a convenient way to ensure that their cat is fed on a regular schedule, while others worry that the feeders may malfunction and cause their cat to become malnourished or obese. Ultimately, it is up to the individual cat owner to decide whether an automatic feeder is right for their pet.
No, you cannot leave your cat alone for 2 weeks. Cats are social creatures and need companionship. They will become depressed and anxious if left alone for extended periods of time. Additionally, they will not have anyone to care for them if they become ill or injured.

This is such a fascinating device, and until I had it, I had no idea how much I needed it. Our two dogs, a husky and a Shepard mix, both enjoy eating! In addition, we have a preteen who doesn't always provide them with food. Unfavorable combinations. The automatic pet feeder arrives...First off, I simply needed to attach the feeding dish because this feeder comes mostly complete. The little food dispenser, which is appropriately indicated in the product description as being for smaller pets, was the other attachment. The length of the power connection impressed me much since if our dogs had access to it, they might chew through it. I could place it outside of their line of sight with the 10 foot length. To ensure that you don't lose your settings, though, I advise adding the batteries. Setting the time came next; it's in military time, which is simple enough to look up if you don't know it. Even a manual feeding button is present. To obtain an idea of what one serving is for your pet, I advise tapping this at least once. After that, I had the opportunity to set up as many serving sizes as I required for up to 4 feedings within a 24-hour period (I believe it goes up to 39, which is a lot!). You might want to schedule one of your times to happen in front of you or click the manual button until you have the desired serving size if, like me, you don't measure your pet's food precisely (I eyeball the serving bowl and call it good). I'm done now! I spent a total of 10 minutes setting everything up.My dogs are currently debating whether or not to accept this "intruder" in their territory, but I have a feeling that they will come to accept it because it will keep them alive. We'll soon need to purchase a second one here!highly suggestable

This is the second automatic feeder we've tried for our 75-pound mongrel dog; the first was the "PetSafe Healthy Pet Simply Feed," which functioned reasonably well for about 18 months. We started to experience problems with the mechanism jamming and not consistently dispensing food. We never knew for sure if our dog received adequate food if we weren't present to see it being given out because the problem grew to be so significant. The fact that she would never reveal anything was problematic. This product has a considerably more affordable pricing, is simpler to set up and operate, and, in my opinion, has a better-designed mechanism. Additional information:* The hopper has a clear top, making it easy to check the food level, and I think it's a little bit smaller than the other unit we used in the past. Our outdated dispenser occasionally ran out of food, which resulted in (temporarily) missed meals. A wall plug is included with this unit, however it is available with the other unit but costs extra. Pricing for the other unit with an adapter as of this morning is little around $150. This dispenser still has a battery backup, so even if you lose electricity, your pet will still be fed. Unlike our previous dispenser, which required holding onto a two-sided reference page of commands for future use, this one is much simpler to program. Granted, the outdated device had extra functions like a slow feeding mode, more feeding intervals, and an early, manual food pouring that skipped the subsequent scheduled meal. With 4 feeding times each day (breakfast, lunch, supper, and "4th meal"), this dispenser is more simple but it worked perfectly for us. Feeding requirements for our dog are rather simple. If there was anything I would criticize, it would be the first "fine tuning" required to get the pet's section just right. It is based on grams, and 10 grams are delivered with each turn of the hopper. So we tried it by weighing 2/3 of a cup of dog food, rounding up (our dog would not like rounding down). The first meal was a touch on the large side, but the dog didn't seem to mind, so we eased up a little and got it very close the next time. If I had it to do over, I would keep pressing the manual dispense button (which cycles one food hopper at a time) until the designated feeding cup was full. You should be all set as long as you keep track of how many people it takes to do that task (six for us).Overall, my wife and I believe this dispenser to be a superior option than the one we previously bought for less than $90. It comes with a power adapter, seems to have a better feed/hopper mechanism, and has just the right number of features to avoid making programming and regular use too difficult. If this lasts as long as it has for us (which would be longer than the 18 months we received with the other product! ), we would highly suggest it.

Early in the morning, our cat scratches at the bedroom door until he is fed. We have to ration his meals because he does not graze and will continue to devour everything is in sight. The cat receives the correct amount of food early thanks to this feeder, and we get to sleep in!Setup is quite simple. All that was required was to plug it in, insert the metal feeding dish that was provided, and secure the food hopper to the feeder base. I was pleasantly delighted to learn that it can be powered by batteries because there aren't many outlets in the kitchen, so if I wanted to use electricity, I would have had to move the item to another part of the house. Programming for the four mealtimes and the meal portion of your choice was quite simple. It was simple to record the message, and our cat had a very curious response. The order was despatched straight away and delivered on schedule. Excellent experience overall with the item, the vendor, and the transaction.

incredibly simple and quick to put up. Its USB cord is very long (short would have been fine but some may need this). There is a boatload of food inside. It seems scarcely like any food is gone from the food reservoir after I filled it up exactly one week ago. I feed our cat once day on the 7 meal size option (which is roughly a half to 3/4 of a cup). The fact that this machine is powered by a wall socket and that my cat cannot stick her paw in the dispenser hole to fish for extra food are two reasons why I adore it. Both of these problems plagued my previous feeder, which I must add performs a hundred times better than it now. Another benefit is having confidence that your pet will constantly be fed at the same time every day. This feeder comes highly recommended. 10/10, would most definitely repurchase.

Despite the abundance of smart feeders available now, I was still content with the Superfeeder, a feeder I purchased back in 2010 and utilized a smart plug to activate. However, I made the decision to switch my dog's diet from conventional kibble to one based on air dried meat, thus I required a smart feeder that could accommodate a flat jerky-type dog food like ZiwiPeak or The Real Meat Company. My query was swiftly addressed by the PETKIT business, who informed me that food up to 25 mm will fit. They didn't address the "flat" problem, but I can now confirm that this feeder does function with flat food (all other feeder companies I contacted indicated flat kibble/food might jam their feeder). I'm using beef meal from the Real Meat Company, which is shaped and scaled differently, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. ZiwiPeak food should work with it without any issues, however some of The Real Meat Company's other tastes are sliced in enormous rectangles that might be too big for this feeder unless you break them in half. If a person is feeding their dog or cat a standard brand of kibble, this won't be a problem for most individuals. The feeder seems big for Beau, my 20-pound jack russell/rat terrier mix, but it's stylish and fits well in a corner (I turned it horizontally so the tray wouldn't protrude into the room). Since then, I have purchased a PETKIT water fountain, which complements it beautifully. There are some thoughtful additions, such as the ability to program the lights on the front of the feeder to turn off at specific times. I also appreciate that the feeding bin is secure and maintains the food's freshness with a dessicant bag that should be changed every 30 days (I searched on Amazon and see there are many for sale by third parties). When it is time to feed, there is a single beep, followed by the nearly silent opening of the feeder door and the food falling out of the chute as the feeder's wheel revolves. Since the food I'm using is more akin to jerky than kibble, it doesn't create much noise as it falls into the stainless steel tray, but if you use kibble, it will definitely sound more like a slot machine. That was the sound of my last feeder, which my dog came to like. The feeding tray is a sizable shallow square dish that can be taken apart for cleaning, however I do wish there was a way to purchase an extra bowl (to put one in the dishwasher). My dog just requires 1/4 cup twice daily of the high protein diet I'm feeding him. I use that setting because it's the closest (and the smallest quantity you can set) and the feeder app goes in increments of 1/5 cup. In essence, you're merely setting up one daily routine (i.e., breakfast and supper), which will be repeated on whichever days of the week you choose it to be active for. You can select different amounts to be administered at different times (i.e., Mon, Wed, Tues, Thurs...). As far as I know, you cannot program it to feed on various schedules on various days of the week (i.e., breakfast at 6am on your workdays, but 10am on days off). However, there is a "feed now" button on the app that enables you to select a portion and dispense it right away. The app also displays if the food was delivered, the set quantity, and the delivery time, along with an error message if something went wrong (like, "offline"). To use the manual button, you must know how many "turns of the wheel/dispensations of food" your dog's portion is because there is a small inset button on the side of the machine that you can hold down to immediately dispense food. However, it will only dispense for as long as you hold the button (I'm sure to account for pets (cats?) who might try triggering it manually). I'm not sure if using the manual button causes problems, but I've observed that occasionally when I use the app's "feed now" feature while standing next to the feeder, it will only dispense one turn of the wheel instead of the customary two turns for the 1/5 cup setting. One fewer turn won't likely be as visible to you or the creature if you're using greater pieces, but on the smallest setting, it's rather meager. It took me a day or two to realize that the app didn't change its internal time when my local time advanced by an hour for daylight savings time because it doesn't have a time indication in it. It wasn't until I checked the feeding history that I noticed it was tracking the times I gave them their "eat now" snacks an hour earlier (i.e., I hit "feed now" at 6pm, but it logged it as having been given at 5pm). And although it doesn't bother me much, the app contains grammatical errors like "Feeded 2/5 cup." The food bin sensor seems to be a little wrong is also not a major concern. It indicated it was only 60% full after I filled it to approximately two inches from the top. Finally, before you pour food into the 5 lb bin with this feeder, you might want to have some D batteries on available to install. You must empty the feeder bin before installing the batteries, which are only intended to serve as backup power in the event that your electricity is interrupted.Although I've only had the feeder for a short while, I'm generally pleased with it. It lacks a video camera, unlike the majority of other models in this price range, but it does have the rare capacity to process larger and oddly shaped foods without jamming, and so far, it appears to be dependable. We can only hope that the app's creator will fix the daylight saving time problem.

The feeder appears to be of high quality, and the cap does just barely latch down. The hole is much too large for the purpose for which I bought it, which is to use it with our cat when we go away for the weekend. These images show the feeder with three cups of cat food inside, and as you can see, there is still a sizable gap in the entrance, making all the food easily accessible. Before we depart for another weekend, I'm going to attempt pasting cardboard inside to close the opening. It would work better for larger kibble or if you kept it full as your primary feeding dish because you would have to fill it with pretty much the entire 3 lb bag of food for the gradual release notion to function. If you have a dog that would try to knock it over to eat all the food, that could be a problem because it's rather lightweight. Even at $5, I still think it's a fantastic product; I simply had no idea the opening would be so big.

I've just had it for a few days, but if anything changes, I'll update my review. I bought this for our gluttonous orange tabby. He needs to have his meals measured out and presented in parts; otherwise, he will consume the entire meal at once and continuously nag for more. He had already begun following me around the house while pleading for food, almost tripping me because he was usually underfoot. His showmanship was ridiculous. He was adopted by a rescue at 20 pounds and is now just 17 pounds, therefore he is on a diet. Due of his large physique, our goal weight is 15 pounds. (This is all in accordance with the veterinarian's instructions; she fostered him for three months prior to our adoption.) He receives wet food twice daily and dry food four times daily. He's fascinated with dry food, and it took a lot of trial and error to find wet food he would really eat, so I assume his former family exclusively gave him that. Ten years old is he.So far, this has worked out really well. He hears the motor and jogs into his room to get his food after recognizing the sound. I filled four of the reservoirs with 1/8 cup portions, and I set the timer for 6am, noon, 6pm, and 11:30pm.I don't have to reprogramme the feeder every day because it stores the programmed hours. Programming wasn't difficult for me; the instructions were clear. The dish spins in the direction of rotation. Even if he paws at the dish, it remains locked in place. The good news is that he has stopped pestering me for dry food. The finest part is this. Instead of me, he views the feeder as his food source. When I'm home, stop following me around. Don't wake me up in the morning anymore. pleasant relieveWhen I open it, I can see that he ate all of his food and that the device worked correctly and distributed it as it should have (some auto feeders have large hoppers and you put in 10 days worth of food, but there is still the question of whether the device was consistent with portions or not. He can't open it. It has no unnecessary bells and whistles. This was criticized by certain reviews. If you're not home to check, there's really no way to know if it distributes the right amount of food.)Cons: I can only fit enough food for one day in it, which is a problem solely for me. Other clients might run it once a day for 5 days, fully fill each reservoir, and do so. But given my situation, it needs to be filled every day. I could work for several days if I had a hopper-style feeder. The matter of portions' uniformity yet remains.-Just a battery? Size D? 4 required? Seriously? There are incredibly few timed feeders on the market that can even be powered by a cord. That seems insane to me. The real cost of this is something like $35 $12 or so for batteries over and over for however long they last because batteries are pricey. Rechargeable batteries are an option, but I don't currently have any, so purchasing those along with a charger will cost an additional $50 or so. At that point, I wouldn't have to worry about recharging batteries or what would happen if the batteries died while I was away if I purchased a $99 AC-powered feeder. It's meaningless. If it came with a power cable, I'd pay $60 to $70 for it.The lack of a power cord choice cost me one star. Other than that, this is a good fit for our purposes. I recorded a video, but there isn't a place to publish it with this review; only photographs are available.

I laughed at those who owned automatic feeders. I believed they were sluggish. Dumb. If someone would purchase such a device to fill their pet's dish with food, they must have excessive money burning a hole in their pocket. Then my boyfriend and his pet and I moved in together. It turned out that she had serious issues with eating anxiety. At 16 pounds, she is a fat cat. She does not get along with the other cat in the house, and the dog snatches any and all food that she can. So it was not an option to simply leave a dish full of food. For her weight and health, as well as to prevent theft by other animals. She did, however, reside for a brief period at a home where it went unnoticed that the other cats in the residence would deny her food, leaving her to go without for extended periods of time. Her food anxiety started at that point. My boyfriend had been giving her a tiny amount or nibble everytime she cried out for it before I moved in. But since it wasn't working, we changed to two feedings each day. One each at 6 am and 6 pm. It made a small difference, but she continued to nag all day long for food. Therefore, we changed to three feedings per day. 6 am, 12 pm, and 6 pm. ongoing begging It felt like a nightmare. Almost never did the meowing cease. When we did fed her, she would almost savor every bite. She would constantly wake us up at 4 a.m. by yelling for food. EVERY. MORNING. Nothing was ever sufficient. So, I conducted the research. And to my dismay, an absurd $130 was the real winner for an automatic feeder (this one). It was a difficult concept to accept. We chose not to. We kept up our awful feeding routine for a another four months. I finally gave up when the cat started howling at 4 in the morning. That night, I ordered this feeder. I couldn't believe we had just spent $130 on a cat feeder. The heavens opened up on the day it arrived in the mail, shedding light on our sleep-deprived, frazzled, cat-wailing lives.I configured the device. I poured the food in, set the timer, and plugged in the five 1/8-cup feedings at the exact times I wanted them to be administered. It took the cat 1 food dispenser some time to realize that this machine is her dependable source of food. Her level of anxiousness decreased by 80% right away. Her anxiety was 90% down after a week or two. She now completely leaves us alone when it comes to her food, so I believe I have managed to feed her exactly how she like. Additionally, she no longer inhales her food; instead, she will graze on it for the next four hours until her next feeding. She has faith in the device to feed her every four hours. It does, too. four hours every day. This feeder is indeed a blessing in disguise and a lifesaver. My favorite $130 purchase to date. For me. for my partner. And most importantly, for the cat, who is no longer consumed with anxiety over when her next meal will arrive. She never has to worry about whether she'll be able to eat today. She is lot more composed.Regarding the device:When you first get it, it will take around 6 scheduled feedings for food to really come out if you just pour food into the food holding tray. A conveyor belt moves the food in 1/8 cup increments. Pull the food holder tray out, load the conveyor belt with food first (you can see exactly this in my images! ), then put the food tray back in and add additional food if you want food to start dispensing right away. It's SO simple! When it is dispensing the food, there is a slight noise. There is a small motor there that you can hear operating. The food falling into the METAL bowl is by far the loudest part! Because it's at the foot of our bed, it terrifies me to death every morning. We initially used Blue Buffalo cat food, which comes in extremely tiny pebble-like pieces. The equipment handled the food flawlessly. handled it with ease. If my memory serves me correctly, many auto feeders struggle for unknown reasons with little food pellets, but not this one. However, as soon as the vet put our chubby lady on an old lady diet, we instantly moved to a much larger meal. The larger pellets seem to cause the feeder a little bit more difficulty, but it consistently delivers 1/8 cup.I won't ever again make fun of those who have automatic pet feeders.

She is lot more composed.Regarding the device:The food moves up a conveyor belt at 1/8cup increments, and when you first get it, if you just pour food into the food holding tray, IT IS GOING TO TAKE ABOUT 6 SCHEDULED FEEDINGS TO ACTUALLY DROP FOOD OUT.

Simply resting on top of the brown bowl, the jug. There is a very little amount of friction, but nothing too significant. We have four cats, and they all use it carelessly. When the water level drops low enough to allow for air to enter the jug, it will emit glug sounds (and water into the bowl). It's entertaining to watch the cats when that happens since they always stop and stare at it for a while. With four cats, it will last a few weeks if we fill it completely. However, we often only fill it a third of the way and replace it once a week or less because it just feels sort of disgusting to let water sit around for that long. Between fill-ups, it's a good idea to clean it down to remove any dirt that may have accumulated. Particularly, there will be a small amount of oil residue around if one of the cats spills some food into the water dish.Edit: This waterer has been in our possession for about two years, and it has performed admirably. All of the plastic is still malleable and hasn't gotten brittle yet. The cap functions exactly as it did when it was brand-new. The four cats have never displayed any signs of disliking the feeders. Surprisingly, one of our cats continues to be fixated on the glugging noises. She will sit in front of it to watch it glug as soon as we fill it up and set it down, and she will stay there for some time after it is finished hoping it will keep going. If it glugged while other cats were drinking, they would initially stop and stare at it, but now they all seem to be pretty unconcerned and just carry on. Although I can't imagine us ever needing to buy another one, if we did, we would just buy this one once more. We wouldn't think twice about urging a buddy to purchase one of them either. They're excellent!
While there are no definitive studies on the matter, it is generally not recommended to leave wet cat food out overnight. The food may spoil and cause gastrointestinal upset in your cat. It is best to feed your cat several small meals throughout the day rather than one large meal.
Yes, two cats can share an automatic feeder, as long as the feeder is large enough to accommodate both cats' food needs and the cats get along well enough to share the same space. If the feeder is too small or the cats don't get along, they may fight over the food, so it's best to keep them separate.
Do cats miss their owners? Yes, cats do miss their owners. They form strong bonds with their owners and can become very attached. When their owner is gone, they may become depressed or anxious. They may also become more clingy and needy.
Cats are often thought of as independent creatures, but some research suggests they might actually prefer to live in pairs. A study published in the journal Applied Animal Behaviour Science found that when cats were placed in a room with a toy they could interact with, they spent more time near the toy when another cat was present. While more research is needed to confirm whether cats prefer companionship, it's possible that your feline friend might enjoy the company of another cat. If you're considering getting a second cat, be sure to introduce them slowly and provide plenty of hiding places and per
If you'll be away from home and unable to feed your cat wet food, there are a few options to consider. One is to ask a friend or neighbor to come over to feed your cat while you're gone. If that's not possible, you can buy wet food in single-serve containers or cans. Another option is to make your own wet food ahead of time and freeze it in individual portions.
If you're going on vacation and can't take your cat with you, there are a few things you can do to make sure they're taken care of. First, you'll need to find someone to check in on them and feed them while you're gone. This could be a friend, neighbor, or professional pet sitter. Once you've found someone, give them a key and show them where everything is. Make sure they know your cat's routine and any special needs they have. Next, prepare your home for your cat's stay.
