There is some evidence that alpha-lipoic acid may help to reverse nerve damage. This nutrient is thought to help protect nerves from damage and help to repair damaged nerves. It is also thought to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Alpha-lipoic acid is available in supplement form and is sometimes used as a natural treatment for diabetes and other conditions. More research is needed to determine whether or not alpha-lipoic acid is effective for treating nerve damage.
Yes, you can take alpha-lipoic acid every day. In fact, many people take it daily as a supplement to help improve their health. Alpha-lipoic acid is an antioxidant that can help protect your cells from damage. It also helps the body to use glucose more effectively, which can help to regulate blood sugar levels.
Yes, you can take omega-3 with alpha-lipoic acid. Both supplements are beneficial for health, and taking them together can increase the benefits. Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation and support heart health, while alpha-lipoic acid is an antioxidant that can help protect cells from damage.
Yes, you can take vitamin B12 and alpha-lipoic acid together. They both play important roles in the body and can help to improve overall health.

Please excuse the personal information, but I'm publishing it just in case someone else finds themselves in a similar situation with a possible miscarriage and is willing to do everything. I started using it at eight weeks pregnant because I had a subchorionic hemorrhage/hematoma (SCH). Due to the size of the internal bleed, I was informed at the time that I had a 50% risk of losing my baby, and I was placed on "modified" bed rest. I found two clinical studies that used alpha lipoic acid (in addition to the commonly prescribed progesterone) to improve outcomes for women with a SCH. Although my doctor had never heard of these studies, he carefully reviewed them and decided there was no reason not to try it. I was desperate to find anything that might increase my chances of keeping my baby healthy (I did this pill 1x a day orally while doing the progesterone vaginally). My body wouldn't be able to reabsorb all of the blood, doctors and ultrasound technicians had repeatedly warned me, and it would likely be expelled. However, weeks later, I haven't bled externally and the blood has only left my body internally, so all I can conclude is that this supplement did its job as a powerful antioxidant and assisted my body in reabsorbing the old blood. At 13 weeks, I started doing normal things again and stopped taking progesterone. The bleeding was less noticeable but remained there at that scan. I am now 22 weeks pregnant and was told at my 20 week ultrasound that there was no indication of ANY blood within. I'm not sure whether I simply got lucky or if these small tablets are as magical as they seem, but I was told this at my 20 week scan. Given the initial severity of the bleed, this is simply absurd. My doctor informed me he's contacted other doctors in the area about it and has urged two other patients to try it. I still intend to take this for the foreseeable future.

Although I have the stuff, I haven't yet begun the program. I'll provide a thorough assessment after using it as advised for a (hopefully fruitful) period of time. I feel compelled to comment, though, in order to assist any other unfortunate individuals who believe what they read. Yes, the facts were there, even with my 85-year-old eyes that were still 20/20. In hindsight, I was able to deduce that each capsule on this Amazon display contained 150 mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid because to the small print that I could read next to the exhibited bottle (ALA). The front labeling on the bottle, however, clearly stated "600 mg," was marked with one of the many *s (stars), and included a footnote addressing the disclaimer regarding the FDA evaluation, but did not include "per capsule" information. After my rheumatologist suggested ALA, I bought a bottle from a nearby pharmacy (different source) that stated 200 mg "PER CAPSULE" before ordering your product! I clearly remember reading comments regarding "truth in labeling" while researching and examining this product as well as others of a similar nature. Cost is not an issue even though your product is substantially more expensive per capsule if the positive reviews are true. It would be prudent for NUTURNA and Amazon to make the strength per capsule clearly visible on the product and in the Amazon listing. When the bottle is almost empty, I will update my review after utilizing your product (30 days).I'll compare my situation to others' just for comparison, most of whom have quite different symptoms. My peripheral neuropathy has caused me little to no discomfort. I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis five years ago at a mild (tolerable) stage, but since having a very successful quadruple laminectomy, I've lost a lot of feeling in my feet and halfway to my knees. I barely feel any pain at all! Concerning swelling has been present in my feet and lower legs for a while, which was made worse by a total left hip replacement two weeks ago. But aside from a minor balance issue that goes away when I dance, I expect to start teaching ballroom, swing, and country western dancing in about a month, which will help me maintain my health for at least another two decades!

Detoxification. Why should I detox?(Since this is a lengthy review, you might want to skip down to the section on alpha lipoic acid, which is discussed in the second half.)There were many hints, but the one that caught my attention was the odd shade of greyish-green that was under my skin. I refer to them as "liver spots," but they aren't.The clue that I wish I had followed appeared almost five years ago. I could no longer effectively detox from alcohol. I would consume half a glass, remain intoxicated for two hours, then pass out and awaken with a hangover. Everyone celebrated when I stopped drinking. Big issue resolved, huh? Nobody asks what happened to all that alcohol dehydrogenase in the liver, not even the doctors. Fire your doctor if they do nothing when you exhibit symptoms of liver dysfunction!more hints For the first time in 20 years, my allergy medication Claritin started to work really, really well and lasted for 24 hours as promised on the label. Claritin is metabolized by the liver enzyme Cyp3A4. I also have a quick metabolism. Fast-acting and powerful, Claritin also wears off quickly. So that 24 hour pill wears off after about 16-18 hours for me. Something is slowing down my production of another liver enzyme.Side note: Cyp3A4 and Cyp2D6 both metabolize Claritin but I don't have any Cyp 2D6 because I don't metabolize narcotic medications.Luckily for me, the liver regenerates. How do you track progress as you detox? It helps if one of your toxic (?) compounds has a gray-green tint and collects under your skin. How do I know it's not a normal pigment ? Well if I rub my skin for about 5 minutes, I can get the pigment to move away leaving a pink spot on my skin.I'm pretty sure I had a Candida infection. One of the products to eradicate the Candida - a bunch of enzymes that attack it, left a growing gray-green tint under my skin. I've had this stuff under my skin for most of my life but faintly. It was most pronounced as a "moustache" on my upper lip. But now, the stain was growing until I only had two pinkish patches on my cheeks.... right above my lymph nodes.Aside from the visual are there other symptoms? Listless/low energy, burning sensation under the skin and in the muscle, patches of skin tender to the touch, irritability, shortness of breath without causeWell, the stain could be something from the Candida or it could be a by product of the enzymes. But I'm betting on the Candida because...Every time, I read about Candida, people recommend a detox program especially for the liver. Candida by-products and wastes are particularly rough on the liver. Additionally, my gut was down. Constant diarrhea means your body isn't eliminating waste products efficiently. Or at all. But the gut recovered recently. I'm certified Candida-free. Now is the time to support the liver. And milk thistle is almost universally recommended. The silymarin in milk thistle helps 1) protect the liver (antioxidants protect the liver from free radical damage), 2) assists in liver function (stabilizes liver membranes, increases ability to filter toxins from blood), and 3) may regenerate the liver helping with recovery from cirrhosis and other types of liver disease/damage. The therapeutic dose varies - but 100 - 200 mg of silymarin is pretty standardDoes the milk thistle/silymarin work? Based on the color changes in my skin: the more silymarin I take, the cleaner my skin looks. I've tried anything from 500 to 1500 mg of this powder. I've tried to cook up a tincture (too much work, didn't like the alcohol). If I stop taking the milk thistle for a week, the stain just starts piling up again. Whatever this stuff is, it's been accumulating for months. I suspect a steady, rational approach with milk thistle would have this cleaned up in about six months. But let's be systematic. It's not just the liver. It's all of the detoxification mechanisms in the body that are overwhelmed: Liver, lymph, skin

I have been walking on the outside of my feet (when not wearing shoes) for almost 8 years instead of flat on my feet like normal people do because statin use for a while caused peripheral neuropathy damage to all of my toes. My toes have never stopped experiencing pins and needles and electric shocks.I made the decision to go online two weeks ago to see if there were any reliable fixes for this. I discovered that taking alpha lipoic acid frequently provided some alleviation from diabetes and peripheral neuropathy. I ultimately chose to give it a shot. After taking it (600 mg/day with food) for a few weeks, I honestly didn't expect to see much of a difference. I became aware that I was instinctively walking with flat feet like I used to on day two. My husband and I have both spent the last week in complete awe. He saw quite comparable results when taking statins, so he has made the decision to try this now. I'm looking forward to seeing how it impacts his feet.

Dr. Berkson is the CDC and FDA's foremost authority on lipoic acid, and I had previously seen him for my Hep C. He put me on Metabolic Maintainence ALA, a fantastic yet pricey medicine.Based on the lab results of some of her other patients, my own integrative doctor insisted that I try the Jarrow Alpha Lipoic Sustain. Despite my best efforts to stop her, I agreed to use the Jarrow product for six months. My AFP (liver tumor marker) score decreased by 3 points on my subsequent lab tests, and all of my other liver function tests improved better than they had in years while being on the MM ALA.And although though I don't myself suffer neuropathy, everyone I know who does saw a significant improvement after using the Jarrow ALA. I implore anyone who suffers from neuropathy or liver problems to try this medicine. In addition, I was only taking one 300 mg tablet per day rather than two, along with the other ALA, due to cost concerns. The Nola Hepper Blog

This is the ONLY thing I have found to be helpful thus far. My neuropathy had driven me insane. Numbness, burning pain, and stabbing sensations on occasion. What a blast, huh? I can assure you that it isn't. It's awful. But because all of the prescription medications have such high costs and serious side effect dangers, I have simply learned to deal with the throbbing and pain. Since I've started taking it for a few weeks, a noticeable difference has occurred. My neuropathy is still present. It won't ever vanish. But it has been improved. I rarely get the stabbing pain any more, and the general degree of burning and suffering has been reduced by 50%. It has improved enough for me to continue using this. I combine this with a cream containing capsaicin that I also purchased from Amazon, and as a result, I no longer feel like hacking off my ankles.

This is what I bought to treat my peripheral neuropathy. My feet are now practically pain-free, so it clearly worked for that, but there were also some additional advantages I had not anticipated. I've been taking this for the past four months.1. Control of blood sugar. My everyday fasting blood sugar reduced by at least 10-15 mg/dl, and I'm now averaging 90 instead of 110-115.2. My body! I didn't anticipate this! I didn't even consider this when I bought it because I was preoccupied with the pain in my feet, but after taking it for approximately two months, I saw that the red sun damage on my arms, neck, and legs had vanished. My brown ones have also significantly faded. My skin is clearly ten years younger. Just hue; no impact on wrinkle formation.I'll probably take this for the rest of my life if I can afford it. I will also add that as an RN, I tend to be dubious of herbal or vitamin goods. When I momentarily ran out of this, I purchased some ordinary (non-R) at CVS, but it had no effect at all. I'll update this evaluation in around six months.

Don't know if its a single item or the combo that's helping so will give them the same review. A lot of research into my persistent constipation, concentration troubles, difficulty to reduce weight, extreme bloating, unexpected startling food reactions, overwhelming hunger for sweets, beginnings of skin diseases and a general weary blah feeling lead me to candidiasis. "Dr. Wally" said it could be candidiasis but probably wasn't and spent 20 minutes lecturing on my need for the South Beach Diet, trying to get me to buy these wrist monitor things he wears and of course how everyone needs to walk at least 15,000 steps daily to have any effect at all on one's blood sugar and weight. He rejected my attempts to guide him toward concerns other than weight (such eating 1 egg and half a piece of pumpernickel and being unable to return dish to kitchen because I could not draw a breath for hours) (like eating 1 egg and half a piece of pumpernickel and being unable to return plate to kitchen because I could barely draw a breath for hours). Refused to test me for allergies, fungal overgrowth or a cbc which I haven't had for over a decade. Finally broke out of his 15,000 step monologue to ask why I had a cane. (How do these fools make it through med school?)There is a site that offers a very simple spit test for candida overgrowth. I decided to believe it because the author wasn't SELLING ANYTHING. They gave some recommendations without brand names that include oregano oil, grapefruit seed extract, probiotics, and caprylic acid. Felt amazing, nearly crazy the first few days (psychosomatic?) and terrible achy the next few then nothing. Until I noticed my hair had stopped falling out, and it had been coming out in handfuls. Not what I'd been expecting or hoping for but a really pleasant reaction anyway.Months later I've started to drop some weight. Not a much but considering I've been stuck at 194 (I'm 5'4") for 2 years this is a HUGE success. I'm on the toilet 5 or 6 times everyday instead of 8-10 and get up feeling some relief instead of the frustration of the prior two years. (Yes I take fiber) No more food reactions, far less intense sweet cravings and the thick muddy-purple, pimply, maddeningly itchy patch that had grown over a third of my forearm has faded to a shadow that only darkens or starts to itch if I overeat (meaning an amount of food bigger than my fist) or get stupid with my glycemic intake. I feel pretty dang fantastic actually. My journey to the doctor was in hopes of a rapid treatment. I suppose I'm in this for the long run but these items have brought me from desperate to comfortably, confidently hopeful and I hope they'll assist you as well.

adore this My hips, thighs, and buttocks are affected by excruciating nerve pain and cramps that radiate down my legs and into my feet. Sometimes the aches and pains are in reverse. In either case, it is excruciatingly painful, forcing me to visit the emergency department one afternoon and receive a highly potent injection of a painkiller. That's how much pain I felt—I was in tears. I visited my rheumatologist, who was managing my fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, and osteoarthritis. She gave me a prescription that helped, albeit not completely, but left me feeling high the next day. I decided not to take the prescription going forward. For my husband's peripheral pain, our previous rheumatologist had given alpha lipoic acid; regrettably, he has since retired. I looked into taking it after my husband suggested I do so, so I did. There is so much to be said about using non-prescription options, I must admit. This supplement was effective. After a few weeks, there were no uncomfortable night cramps, and the peripheral pain disappeared (but not totally). I seldom ever have cramps anymore, and when I do, they don't make me have to stand and put weight on the affected leg as they used to. I assure you that I DO NOT miss that kind of suffering. I would feel sick to my stomach and worn out. I used to use another brand, but it was expensive (retired and watching expenses). discovered this Now brand when searching Amazon. works equally well and is far less expensive. I would strongly suggest this. I also take Omega 3's, D3 owing to a major deficiency, CoQ10, a multivitamin, Biotin, magnesium, and three recommended medications for fibromyalgia and hypertension. And yes, my rheumatologist is impressed with the benefits I've had with this supplement.

After taking Rhada Beauty Vit C Serum morning and night for six days, Doctors Alpha Lipoic Acid 600 once daily, and Rhada Beauty Retinal Moisturizer...WOW. My skin has a lovely glow and is soft and smooth. Even now, it defies belief. I have acne-prone skin, therefore I'm overjoyed that the areas of it that aren't inflamed are as smooth as baby skin. I'm eager to finally have good skin as an adult and am awaiting a dermaroller/microneedling kit and Alpa Lipoic Serum to add to my routine. I've tried just about everything, so I wish I'd found these items sooner.
Thyroid hormone is responsible for regulating metabolism, so when levels are too low, symptoms like weight gain, fatigue, and depression can occur. Although alpha-lipoic acid is sometimes touted as a natural treatment for hypothyroidism, there's no evidence to support this claim. In fact, taking large doses of alpha-lipoic acid may actually cause hypothyroidism. If you're considering using alpha-lipoic acid to treat your hypothyroidism, talk to your doctor first.
No, alpha-lipoic acid does not cause weight gain. In fact, it may even help promote weight loss. One study showed that alpha-lipoic acid supplementation led to a reduction in body fat mass in obese individuals (1). Another study found that alpha-lipoic acid supplementation improved insulin sensitivity and helped to reduce body fat in people with type 2 diabetes (2). So, if you’re looking for a supplement to help you lose weight, alpha-lipoic acid may be worth a try.
No, alpha-lipoic acid does not deplete vitamin B. In fact, alpha-lipoic acid may actually help increase levels of vitamin B in the body. Vitamin B is essential for many bodily functions, including energy production, cell growth, and red blood cell formation.
Yes, alpha-lipoic acid does repair nerve damage. This is because alpha-lipoic acid is an antioxidant, and it helps to protect cells from damage. It also helps to improve blood sugar levels, which can help to prevent nerve damage.
There is no definitive answer to this question as there is limited scientific evidence to support its use for this purpose. Some people believe that alpha-lipoic acid can help to tighten skin, but there is no concrete evidence to back up these claims. If you are considering using alpha-lipoic acid for this purpose, it is important to speak to a healthcare professional first to ensure that it is safe for you to do so.
It is unclear how long it takes for alpha-lipoic acid to work for neuropathy. Some studies suggest that it may improve symptoms within a few weeks, while other research suggests that it may take up to three months of treatment before any benefits are seen. Ultimately, it may vary depending on the individual.
